Abstract

Quantum error correction is a cornerstone of future quantum computing, demanding robust and adaptable qubit layouts to combat the inevitable errors. Traditional topology optimization methods often lack the necessary flexibility to address the dynamic nature of quantum systems and evolving error patterns. This paper introduces a novel dynamic topology optimization technique, termed "Adaptive Quantum Topology Optimization" (AQTO), designed specifically to address this challenge. AQTO employs a self-adaptive optimization framework, wherein the layout of qubits is continuously refined based on real-time error analysis and feedback. We demonstrate the effectiveness of AQTO through a series of simulations and analysis of error-prone quantum circuits, showcasing improved error correction performance compared to traditional methods. The core mechanism relies on a layered approach, integrating error sensitivity maps with a reinforcement learning algorithm to dynamically adjust qubit placement and connectivity.
