Abstract

This research investigates the potential role of quantum phenomena, specifically quantum entanglement and quantum superposition, in biological information transmission. Traditional biological models often rely on classical explanations for processes such as phototransduction and neuronal communication. This work proposes a framework for developing quantum biological models to explore whether quantum effects contribute to these phenomena. The core claim is that quantum entanglement or superposition could be involved in facilitating information transfer within biological systems. The research will focus on establishing models and investigating the mechanisms by which these quantum effects might influence biological processes, ultimately challenging existing assumptions about information transfer in living organisms. Mathematical formalism is presented to illustrate key concepts and proposed models.

Quantum Entanglement: Biological Implications

Jincheng Zhang

This paper investigates the potential biological significance of quantum entanglement, a phenomenon predicted by quantum mechanics where two or more particles become linked in such a way that they share the same fate, no matter how far apart they are. Traditionally, biological processes have been explained through classical physics. However, recent research suggests that quantum phenomena, including entanglement, might play a role in various biological systems. This work explores the core claim that entanglement may be crucial for information transfer, energy transmission, or the regulation of biological processes within living organisms. We examine potential mechanisms by which entanglement could arise and persist within biological environments, focusing on the interactions between biological molecules. The research challenges conventional biological explanations and proposes a framework for investigating the potential impact of quantum mechanics on life itself. The fundamental question addressed is whether entanglement is a fundamental component of biological function, rather than an anomaly.

Quantum Entanglement-Based Simulation of Information Encoding and Decoding in Biological Systems

Jincheng Zhang

This research investigates the potential of utilizing quantum entanglement to simulate information encoding and decoding mechanisms within biological neural networks. The core premise is that quantum phenomena, specifically entanglement, may play a more significant role in biological neuronal processing than previously acknowledged. This work proposes a novel approach employing quantum bits (qubits) to represent individual neurons, with connections between neurons established through quantum entanglement. The simulation aims to mimic the processes of synaptic transmission and signal propagation observed in biological neural networks. Mathematical formulations describe the evolution of the entangled qubit states under influence of simulated neuronal inputs, and the measurement processes are modeled to represent the observed output signals. This research offers a theoretical framework for exploring the interplay between quantum mechanics and biological neural systems, potentially leading to a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles governing brain function. The study utilizes a discrete-time simulation approach, allowing for a detailed analysis of the dynamics of the entangled neural network. Key performance indicators, such as the fidelity of information transfer and the robustness of the simulated network, are explored. The results suggest that quantum entanglement can provide a viable model for simulating complex neural processes, warranting further investigation into the potential for quantum computing to revolutionize our understanding of the brain.
