Abstract

This paper proposes a novel approach to symbolic reasoning utilizing quantum neural networks (QNNs). Traditional symbolic reasoning systems face limitations due to the computational bottlenecks inherent in classical logic processing. This work introduces a framework where logical operations are translated into quantum operations, leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics to perform reasoning. The core mechanism involves utilizing a QNN to process symbolic data, exploiting quantum entanglement to facilitate knowledge representation and propagation. We demonstrate the potential for significantly enhanced efficiency in symbolic inference compared to conventional methods. This research contributes to the burgeoning field of quantum computing by exploring a practical application of QNNs in a domain with well-defined logical structures – symbolic reasoning. The proposed system offers a pathway towards scalable and potentially faster solutions for complex reasoning tasks.

Quantum-Inspired Neural Network Architectures for Symbolic Computation

Jincheng Zhang

This paper explores the potential of quantum-inspired neural network architectures for enhancing symbolic computation. Traditional neural networks often struggle with the inherent structure and logical reasoning required in symbolic tasks. We propose a novel framework leveraging principles from quantum mechanics—specifically non-locality and entanglement—to design neural networks that can more effectively perform symbolic manipulation and reasoning. The core idea involves introducing non-local connections and mimicking entanglement-like interactions within the network architecture. This approach aims to overcome limitations of conventional neural networks by incorporating probabilistic and interconnected representations reminiscent of quantum systems. The resulting architectures, termed Quantum-Inspired Neural Networks (QINNs), are hypothesized to offer improved efficiency and accuracy in symbolic computation, potentially bridging the gap between classical computation and quantum processing paradigms. We outline the key architectural components and theoretical underpinnings of QINNs, focusing on how they translate quantum concepts into a neural network setting. The goal is to demonstrate a viable pathway for harnessing quantum-inspired ideas to tackle complex symbolic problems.

Neuro-Symbolic Reasoning with Quantum-Enhanced Associative Memory

Jincheng Zhang

This paper proposes a novel approach to neuro-symbolic reasoning by integrating quantum associative memory (QAM). Traditional neuro-symbolic systems struggle with the scalability and efficiency of knowledge representation and retrieval, particularly when dealing with complex, partially known information. Our approach utilizes quantum states to represent symbolic concepts, allowing for exponentially larger and more nuanced knowledge representations compared to classical associative memory. Quantum interference is then leveraged to rapidly and efficiently retrieve relevant knowledge based on partial or noisy inputs. The core mechanism relies on the superposition and entanglement properties of quantum states, enabling the system to explore multiple potential interpretations simultaneously. We demonstrate how this QAM-enhanced neuro-symbolic framework can significantly improve reasoning performance, particularly in scenarios requiring robust inference with incomplete or uncertain data. We introduce a theoretical framework outlining the key components and operational principles, and explore the potential advantages and challenges of this hybrid approach. The core claim is that combining neural networks with symbolic reasoning systems can be significantly enhanced by leveraging quantum associative memory to represent and retrieve complex knowledge structures. The core mechanism utilizes quantum states to represent symbolic concepts and utilizing quantum interference to quickly and efficiently retrieve relevant knowledge based on partial or noisy inputs. This research represents a significant step towards unlocking new levels of reasoning capabilities within artificial intelligence.
