This note studies how gravitational time dilation can create and protect physical records in a closed timeless quantum universe. Building on the Page–Wootters and Feynman–Kitaev framework, the work introduces an energy-dependent witness clock whose ticking rate changes with the system energy, providing a discrete model of time dilation. The study verifies four exact mechanisms: 1. Time writes energy: different energy histories generate exactly distinguishable witness-clock distributions at every sampled time, producing records without any measurement interaction. 2. Positivity protects the record: under all tested positive energy-conditioned deformations, the dilation record cannot be erased. The only exact eraser requires anti-dilation, corresponding to a negative-energy deformation outside the positive class. 3. Discrete time-dilation decoherence: energy superpositions lose coherence according to an exact lattice analogue of gravitational time-dilation decoherence, with exact revival at the witness period. 4. Universality redundancy: multiple witness clocks independently acquire the same energy record, showing how time dilation can naturally proliferate information without an explicit copying interaction. The result provides an exactly solvable information-theoretic mechanism connecting energy positivity, gravitational time dilation, and record stability. It is a discrete model of the underlying structure rather than a calculation of full dynamical gravity. Reproducibility scripts and audit variants are included.

This note identifies a common mathematical structure underlying thermal decoherence, quantum records, and time-dilation-induced information loss. Within a Page–Wootters/Feynman–Kitaev constrained universe with a thermal oscillator witness clock, the work shows that the formulas governing time-dilation decoherence and record distinguishability are members of the same Gaussian record family. The study verifies four exact identities: 1. Thermal time-dilation decoherence follows the same characteristic-function visibility law previously obtained for Gaussian thermal records, with machine-precision agreement. 2. The curvature of the decoherence curve is determined by the thermal geometric variance, showing that variance quantifies the cost of record stability. 3. The distinguishability of records written by the clock equals the thermal oscillator fidelity formula, demonstrating that the record created by time and the information stored in a thermal oscillator share the same mathematical measure. 4. Temperature weakens deterministic records by the exact thermal factor 1/(2n̄+1), showing how heat progressively blurs accessible information while preserving the underlying unitary structure. This work provides an exact solvable connection between Gaussian quantum information theory and relational time-dilation records. It does not compute full dynamical gravity; rather, it isolates the information-theoretic structure of thermal clocks and records. Reproducibility calculations and verification data are included.
This work studies the fate of historical records in a closed timeless quantum universe. Combining the theory of quantum records with the Page–Wootters framework of relational time, we investigate whether history possesses a fundamentally protected record class in a constrained universe. Using an exactly solvable Feynman–Kitaev constraint Hamiltonian, whose zero-energy states are history states, we verify three mechanisms: 1. No protected history class: every individual record can be erased by a later allowed deformation of the dynamics. Unlike positivity-protected records, a closed constrained universe contains no analogous unscreenable charge protecting history. 2. The erasure curve of history: the distinguishability of past records follows an exact interpolation as the erasure interaction is increased, while the global quantum state remains perfectly unitary. The past becomes unreadable, not physically undone. 3. Redundancy protects history: when events are copied into multiple independent records, partial erasure leaves the remaining copies intact, while only complete destruction of all redundant records removes practical access to the past. The results provide a minimal exact model showing that the apparent permanence of history is not necessarily a fundamental conservation law, but can emerge from information redundancy and proliferation. The model is not a cosmological simulation; it isolates the information-theoretic structure of history records in a closed constrained quantum system. Reproducibility scripts and audit variants are included.
No physical clock is free: every clock is a quantum system that interacts with what it measures. This note studies the exact relationship between clock precision and the decoherence induced by universal time-dilation coupling in solvable constrained quantum systems. Using a clock-system interaction determined by energy coupling, the work derives the exact coherent-overlap decay law associated with time-dilation decoherence and shows how relational quantum dynamics emerges from constrained systems. The global time translation remains a gauge symmetry, while the time evolution recovered by conditioning on the clock exhibits the corresponding deformed relational dynamics. The main result is an exact resolution-decoherence tradeoff: the product of the clock's time resolution and the induced decoherence rate is independent of the clock state and depends only on the coupling strength and the system energy difference. This shows that improving the precision of a quantum clock necessarily increases the disturbance it causes when universally coupled to the system it measures. The result provides an exact model-level realization of a fundamental limitation of physical reference frames: a reference system that allows more precise access to information must pay an unavoidable quantum cost. The work is formulated within finite constrained quantum models with declared assumptions: idealized clocks, a specified universal dilation coupling, and no dynamical gravitational field. The results are accompanied by verification and reproducibility materials.
Gravity can both generate quantum entanglement and cause decoherence through time-dilation effects. This note studies the competition between these two effects by treating them as consequences of the same Newtonian mass–energy interaction. Using a solvable two-body model with a coupling between energy and geometry, the work shows that the position-dependent part of the interaction produces the entangling phases associated with gravitationally induced entanglement, while the energy-dependent part produces proper-time decoherence. The paper computes this race exactly and derives several results. First, the outcome is independent of the strength of gravity itself: the dynamics depends only on the combination of coupling strength and interaction time, meaning that gravity sets the timescale but does not determine the final verdict. The result is controlled by the structure of the interaction and the geometry of the quantum state. Second, a registered prediction that internal energy spread would eventually destroy gravitational entanglement is disproved by the exact calculation. Instead, the entanglement decreases but approaches a nonzero geometry-dependent floor. The mechanism is traced to the energy-product coupling, which produces a non-Gaussian characteristic function and prevents complete suppression of the entangling effect. Third, the work derives an exact separability boundary: two sources with spatial coherences v1 and v2 become entangled at the optimal phase precisely when (1 + v1)(1 + v2) > 2. Fully decohered sources cannot generate entanglement, while partial coherence can be sufficient. Finally, the paper verifies that the record–decoherence relation holds inside the same gravitational interaction: coherence lost by a system equals the information recorded by the rest of the universe, combining entanglement and proper-time decoherence into a single information budget. The results are obtained within finite exactly solvable models with declared limitations: static branches, Newtonian-form coupling, no graviton exchange, and no dynamical quantum gravity. The work provides a controlled theoretical framework for understanding the competition between gravitationally induced entanglement and gravitational decoherence.
This project explores a fully timeless formulation of quantum theory motivated by the Page–Wootters mechanism and canonical quantum gravity. The central assumption is that the universe is described by a single global quantum state ∣Ψ⟩ satisfying a Wheeler–DeWitt–type Hamiltonian constraint, with time appearing only as an internal, relational variable defined by “clock” subsystems. I formulate a simple multi–clock framework, introduce a clock neutrality conjecture, and test it in an explicit finite-dimensional toy model. The model consists of two three-tick internal clocks and a qubit system, with joint step relations that encode a static global state over a 3×3 grid of clock readings. Imposing multi-clock consistency selects a constrained family of states in which the two clock evolutions commute on the support of ∣Ψ⟩. Within the decoherent histories framework, I then show that for histories expressible with either clock, the probabilities for relational events agree whenever the two clocks implement the same underlying physical evolution. In this sense the toy model realises a discrete version of clock neutrality: decoherent-histories probabilities are independent of which internal clock is used as the parameter. The construction does not yet yield new empirical predictions, but it isolates a precise structural condition that any timeless, deterministic description of the universe would need to satisfy in order to be compatible with clock-independent low-energy physics.
This note studies the emergence of time in a timeless quantum universe using a Wheeler–DeWitt-style constrained model with quantum geometry, clocks, and matter records. The model contains no external time parameter. The total state satisfies a timeless constraint while the geometry register, clock, and matter systems remain fully quantum and entangled. Despite the absence of fundamental time, conditioning on the clock and geometry recovers branch-dependent Schrödinger evolution with the correct redshifted proper-time rates. The work shows that quantum geometry can act as a reference frame for time. An observer without access to the geometry register carries a geometric information deficit, while conditioning on the geometry restores the individual geometric branches exactly. Superposed geometries generate proper-time interference, with matter records determining the transition between quantum time-history interference and classical branch evolution. The central result is an exact emergence-of-time identity: the observable coherence between different geometry branches is equal to the product of geometry coherence and matter-record overlap. When geometry information is fully recorded by matter, the interference between different time histories disappears, and each branch exhibits its own classical Schrödinger evolution. The note also derives a continuous crossover law: the emergence of classical time depends quantitatively on how strongly matter measures the quantum geometry. This connects the relational-time mechanism of Page–Wootters with the semiclassical time program of Kiefer and Zeh in an exactly solvable setting. The results are obtained in finite Wheeler–DeWitt-style toy models with declared assumptions: quantum geometry registers, simplified redshift structure, and no claim of a complete theory of dynamical quantum gravity. Verification and reproducibility materials are included.
