Trung Q. Duong, James Adu Ansere, Bhaskara Narottama +3 more

Quantum computing is envisaged as an evolving paradigm for solving computationally complex optimization problems with a large-number factorization and exhaustive search. Recently, there has been a proliferation growth of the size of multi-dimensional datasets, the input-output space dimensionality, and data structures. Hence, the conventional machine learning approaches in data training and processing face a huge limited computing capabilities to support the sixth-generation (6G) networks with highly dynamic applications and services. Under this regard, the fast developing quantum computing with machine learning (QML) for 6G networks is investigated. QML algorithms can significantly enhanced the processing efficiency and exponentially computational speed-up for effective quantum data representation and superposition framework, highly capable of guaranteeing high data storage and secured communications. We present the state-of-the-art in quantum computing and provide comprehensive overviews through machine learning approaches for their applications in the 6G networks. Furthermore, we introduce quantum-inspired machine learning applications for 6G networks, considering their enabling technologies and potential challenges. Finally, some dominating research issues and future research directions for the quantum-inspired machine learning in 6G networks are elaborated.

Integrating Quantum Feature Encoding and Classical Post-Processing to Enhance IoT Edge Intelligence using Quantum Machine Learning Models

B Leelaram Prakash, G. Indira Priyadarshini, M. Arun +3 more

The blistering development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has brought an urgent necessity to an efficient data processing at the end of the network, where devices are characterized by few computational capabilities, and little to no energy availability. Conventional machine learning (ML) solutions can offer high-performance on a centralized system, but do not provide the edge environments with the required latency and the corresponding performance. This paper gives a quantum machine learning (QML)-backed architecture that is used to optimize IoT edge processing, inspiring quantum feature encoding along with quantum neural networks with classical post-processing resource allocation. Different simulated IoT datasets were tested on the framework and they all represent applications to smart home, industrial IoT, and environment monitoring. According to experimental findings, processing latency (improved by 39 percent), energy consumption (improved by 40 percent), memory reorganization (improved by 40 percent), and prediction accuracy (improved by 6 per cent.) were significantly less than conventional ML models. The results demonstrate that QML models are able to make real-time decisions significant and scalable as well as sustainable in edge computing. Quantum-enhanced edge intelligence can significantly improve IoT data processing speed, efficiency, and smart decision-making.

Sukanya Pondavakam, Sushil Kumar Singh, Vinay Rishiwal +1 more

ABSTRACT Quantum Computing (QC) has emerged as a promising paradigm capable of solving complex computational problems more efficiently than classical approaches. Quantum‐inspired algorithms provide highly efficient, optimized solutions that can revolutionize various industries by enabling faster data processing, secure communications, and innovative advancements. In cloud security, Machine Learning (ML) techniques play an essential role in detecting and mitigating cyber threats. The integration of QC with ML, known as Quantum Machine Learning (QML), introduces novel security solutions that enhance the resilience of cloud infrastructures against cyberattacks. Moreover, incorporating Generative AI into QML frameworks can further bolster cloud security through advanced anomaly detection, automated response generation, and the synthesis of secure synthetic data for training models. Additionally, in IoT‐enabled sustainable smart cities, information fusion techniques (including multi‐sensor and multi‐process fusion) are essential for ensuring robust cloud security, which is paramount to protecting interconnected systems, data privacy, and critical infrastructure. This review article provides a comprehensive survey of QML‐based approaches, augmented by generative AI and information fusion, for enhancing cloud security in these environments. We review over 150 research articles, examining the key principles of QML, its advantages over classical ML techniques, and its applications in securing cloud environments. Furthermore, the paper discusses the challenges and opportunities in implementing QML, generative AI, and information fusion for cloud security within smart city ecosystems. By offering a detailed analysis, this study aims to contribute to the advancement of quantum‐driven security frameworks for next‐generation smart cities.
