Ergotropy and Work Extraction in Quantum Heat Engines via Quantum Channels

Indrajith VS, Disha Verma

This paper explores quantum heat engines based on qubit and qutrit working media interacting with thermal environments through generalized amplitude damping (GAD) channels. We investigate how quantum channels can be employed to model heat absorption, dissipation, and work extraction in open quantum thermal machines, and derive the conditions required for positive work extraction. The effects of quantum correlations, emission probability, population redistribution, and system--environment interactions on the thermodynamic performance of the engine are systematically analyzed across different operational regimes. In addition, we examine the ergotropy of qubit and qutrit systems under dissipative dynamics to understand how environmental effects influence the maximum extractable work. Our results demonstrate that multilevel quantum systems exhibit enhanced work extraction capability and improved robustness against decoherence compared to two-level systems, providing further insight into the role of dissipative dynamics and quantum resources in realistic quantum thermodynamic devices.

Enhancement of quantum correlations between two particles under decoherence in finite-temperature environment

Nasibollah Doustimotlagh, Shuhao Wang, Chenglong You +1 more

Enhancing the quantum correlations in realistic quantum systems interacting with the environment of finite temperature is an important subject in quantum information processing. In this paper, we use weak measurement and measurement reversal to enhance the quantum correlations in a quantum system consisting of two particles. The transitions of the quantum correlations measured by the local quantum uncertainty of qubit-qubit and qutrit-qutrit quantum systems under generalized amplitude damping channels are investigated. We show that, after the weak measurement and measurement reversal, the joint system shows more robustness against decoherence.

Enhancing robustness of noisy qutrit teleportation with Markovian memory

Ruiqing Xu, Ri‐Gui Zhou, Yaochong Li +2 more

Abstract Quantum teleportation is the fundamental communication unit in quantum communication. Here, a three-level system is selected for storing and transmitting quantum information, due to its unique advantages, such as lower cost than a higher-level system and higher capacity and security than a two-level system. It is known that the key procedure for perfect teleportation is the distribution of entanglement through quantum channel. However, amounts of noise existing in the quantum channel may interfere the entangled state, causing the degradation of quantum entanglement. In the physical implementations of quantum communication schemes, noise acting on the carriers of successive transmissions often exhibits some correlations, which is the so called quantum memory channel. In this paper, a memory channel model during the entanglement distribution phase is constructed and the uniform expression of the evolution of a two-qutrit entangled state under different kinds of correlated noise is derived. Finally, Pauli noise and amplitude damping noise as the typical noise source are considered to analyze the influence of memory effects of noise on qutrit teleportation. It is expected to show that three-level teleportation under these two types of channels can generally enhance the robustness to noise if the Markovian correlations of quantum channel are taken into consideration.
