A Discrete Information-Theoretic Model of Physics on a Space-Cell Substrate: Local Update Dynamics, Event-Based Time, Continuum Limits, and Candidate Geometric Realizations
This paper develops a discrete, information-theoretic framework in which physical reality is modeled as a lattice or relational graph of interacting “space cells,” each evolving by local update rules. The framework treats space as an active information-processing substrate rather than as a passive background. Time is modeled as an ordering of state transitions rather than as a fundamental substance. Energy is provisionally associated with event density, update rate, action flow, or structured information-processing intensity, with Planck’s constant interpreted as a conversion scale between discrete transitions, phase, and action. The paper combines formal mathematical development with a summary of toy-model probes used to test whether the framework can support the kinds of structures required of a physical theory. Mathematically, it distinguishes theorem-level consequences of local/unitary dynamics from continuum-limit derivations and from simulation-supported but still speculative model-selection branches. Finite-radius local updates imply causal cones; unitary updates preserve norm; local trace-preserving operations preserve no-signaling at the reduced-state level; split-step quantum-walk updates support Dirac-like low-momentum continuum behavior; and Schrödinger-like dynamics arise as a nonrelativistic positive-energy envelope approximation rather than as the most immediate continuum limit. The space-cell framework is organized around two candidate geometric realizations. A distortable-cell model assigns deformation, strain, connection, or topology-bearing degrees of freedom to cells and links. An alternative extrinsic χ-compression model assigns an additional internal scalar coordinate , interpreted as compression, event-density elevation, hidden displacement, or update-rate modulation. The χ option is not initially treated as a literal fourth spatial dimension; it is a parsimonious internal state variable to be compared against deformation-based models under causal, weak-field, Lorentz-like, source-specific, and false-source controls. The toy-model program summarized here tests whether local update rules can generate stable, bounded, identity-preserving informational structures that survive perturbation, scattering, false-carrier pressure, and geometry-like coupling. These simulations do not prove that nature uses space cells, but they have produced mechanism-level evidence for relational identity preservation, local reconstruction, false-carrier rejection, conservation-ledger requirements, photon-like interaction bookkeeping, and χ/deformation model-selection criteria. This paper does not claim to have derived the Standard Model, full quantum field theory, or the Einstein field equations. It presents a staged mathematical and computational research framework. The strongest current claim is that local information-processing rules can be formalized in ways that recover several necessary structural features—locality, conservation-like invariants, causal propagation, no-signaling compatibility, Dirac/Schrödinger continuum regimes, and candidate weak-field geometry equations—while toy-model branches provide constrained tests of whether those structures can support physically relevant informational excitations.

Abstract This paper develops a discrete information-theoretic framework in which physical systems are modeled on a graph or lattice of locally interacting space cells. Its principal contribution is an integrated architecture separating exact consequences of locality and unitarity, continuum-limit derivations, model-family results, toy-model mechanisms, and unresolved physical mappings. Matter-like identity is treated as propagated relational information rather than persistence of the same occupied cells, and candidate mechanisms are audited for causal locality, conservation or ledger closure, and false reconstruction. The quantum branch assumes finite-dimensional local Hilbert spaces and local unitary or completely positive trace-preserving (CPTP) updates. Under those assumptions, norm preservation, finite causal cones, and reduced-state no-signaling follow directly; spinor quantum walks admit a Dirac-like long-wavelength limit and a secondary nonrelativistic Schrödinger envelope. A representative reciprocal q–χ lattice action shows how compact local dynamics can support continuity, spectral response, action-derived scattering, and internal symmetry/charge, while later extensions supply a provisional local gauge/Gauss/holonomy structure. Two geometric realizations remain deliberately distinct: distortable cells and scalar extrinsic-χ compression. Toy models provide mechanism and failure-boundary evidence for relational identity, reconstruction, scattering, photon-like bookkeeping, and topology/charge-current response. The framework does not derive the Standard Model, quantum field theory, or general relativity; it defines a falsifiable program for testing whether compact local information-processing laws can recover required low-energy structures without hidden nonlocal repair or post-hoc tuning.
This report develops the mathematical spine of a discrete information-theoretic space-cell framework. A finite region of the substrate is represented by a tensor product of local Hilbert spaces over a graph or cell complex. Closed dynamics are modeled by finite-depth circuits of bounded-range unitary gates; open-system, measurement-inclusive, or coarse-grained dynamics are represented by local completely positive trace-preserving maps. Under these assumptions, norm or trace preservation is exact, local observables acquire support only inside finite update cones, and unconditional local statistics are invariant under distant trace-preserving operations. A one-dimensional symmetric split-step quantum walk is used as an explicit baseline. Selecting a quasienergy branch of its finite-step update operator defines an effective Hamiltonian. In the long-wavelength, small-step regime, the leading generator has Dirac form, with the cell spacing and update interval fixing an effective propagation speed and the local component-mixing angle fixing a mass scale. The Schrödinger equation is then obtained as a secondary positive-energy, low-momentum envelope approximation after factoring out the rest-energy phase. This hierarchy prevents the discrete update, Dirac continuum regime, and nonrelativistic Schrödinger regime from being treated as equivalent claims. The report also proves reduced-state no-signaling for local trace-preserving operations, states the corresponding probability-level result for local POVMs, and shows how Bell/CHSH correlations can coexist with no controllable superluminal communication. Entanglement is interpreted as distributed nonfactorization generated by local interaction history, not as measurement-time signaling. The report closes with explicit proof obligations: Born-rule and measurement derivation, interacting relativistic fields, spin-statistics, gauge structure, curved geometry, exact or experimentally bounded Lorentz recovery, local conservation beyond global norm, and the causal safety of χ or deformation variables.
Abstract This report summarizes a Quantum Memory Matrix (QMM) focused branch of the broader space-cell framework toy-model program. The space-cell framework treats objects not as persistent pieces of matter occupying fixed cells, but as propagating informational excitations: structured patterns that are reconstructed, handed off, and stabilized through local update rules. Within that setting, QMM—used here as a quasi-metric / quantum-memory-like modeling layer—was explored as a candidate mechanism for improving identity preservation, causal handoff, false-carrier suppression, and interaction diagnostics in discrete space-cell simulations. QMM is relevant because it offers a way to describe identity not merely as local amplitude or density, but as a relational, metric-sensitive, phase/gauge-aware structure that may survive perturbation, scattering, and carrier replacement. The branch tested whether QMM-inspired mechanisms could help produce stable, bounded, orbit-like or particle-like informational structures under local dynamics. Early and mid-branch results showed meaningful progress: covariant two-factor identity, gauge/holonomy relations, conservative ledger constraints, weak chi perturbations, and causal-bridge diagnostics improved the ability to distinguish intended identity transfer from false proximity artifacts. These findings strengthened the interpretation that identity in the toy model should be measured by preserved information-bearing structure rather than by same-cell persistence. However, later multidimensional extensions exposed a major unresolved obstacle. Attempts to instantiate QMM identity as explicit 2D or 3D volume, shell, radial-shell, tangential-shell, loop/link, phase-bin, or sector-source carriers did not produce a deployable connected multidimensional carrier. The simulations could often preserve diagnostic traces, ledger balances, or phase-sector memory, while also controlling false capture and causal leakage, but those traces did not reliably physicalize into bounded, continuous carrier mass. This distinction—between an identity ledger and an actual propagated carrier—is the central checkpoint finding of the branch. The report therefore concludes that QMM remains valuable for the space-cell program, especially as a diagnostic and organizing framework for causal bridge correction, covariant identity, gauge-like relational structure, conservation-like accounting, and weak perturbation analysis. But QMM does not yet supply a complete multidimensional carrier mechanism under the tested local rules. The recommended next step is to apply the successful QMM diagnostics back to stronger scattering, conservation, gauge, and lower-dimensional scaling branches before attempting another 3D carrier family. Future multidimensional work should be derived from those interaction laws rather than by further strengthening the already-tested volume, shell, or loop templates.
This framework preserves the empirical success of existing physical theories while proposing an alternative set of foundational assumptions from which their standard formulations emerge as effective limits. Abstract — Key Innovative Points Discrete Updating FabricThe theory postulates a fundamental discrete fabric whose elementary constituents evolve through local update processes, replacing continuous fields and background spacetime as primary entities. Irreversible Local Dynamics as FundamentalUnlike standard approaches based on unitary or reversible evolution, irreversibility is taken as ontological. Physical law emerges from irreversible local updates rather than from imposed symmetries or variational principles. Emergent Time and SpacetimeTime is not assumed as a fundamental parameter but arises from the counting of update events. Spacetime geometry emerges as a coarse-grained description of update activity across the fabric. Quantum Probability from Microstate CountingQuantum probabilities, including the Born rule, emerge from combinatorial counting of compatible microstates of the fabric, rather than being postulated axiomatically. Gravity as Update-Rate ModulationGravitational phenomena are interpreted as variations in local update rates, leading to effective curvature, time dilation, and relativistic behavior at macroscopic scales. Mass as Resistance to UpdateMass and inertia arise from stable topological structures within the fabric that resist updates, providing a dynamical origin of mass without introducing fundamental mass parameters. Fundamental Dissipation and IrreversibilityDissipation is intrinsic to the fabric dynamics and not an emergent statistical effect. The arrow of time follows directly from the irreversible nature of local updates. Extension Beyond Fundamental PhysicsThe same discrete framework accounts for macroscopic dissipative phenomena—such as friction, stick–slip dynamics, superlubricity, growth, and self-organization—linking fundamental physics and material behavior within a single process-based model. iversality Without Fundamental SymmetryLarge-scale physical laws emerge as dynamical attractors of the updating fabric, arising through elimination of unstable configurations rather than enforcement of fundamental symmetries. Emergent Rules Beyond the Born Rule in the Unified Fabric Framework The same discrete-fabric + local-update + coarse-graining structure generates multiple quantum rules without postulation. 1. Schrödinger Dynamics as an Emergent Long-Wavelength Limit Local deterministic updates on a discrete fabric admit spectral modes. In the long-wavelength limit, their evolution converges to a Schrödinger-type equation. No quantum dynamics is postulated.Only update rules and spectral structure are assumed. 2. Superposition from Coarse-Grained Microstate Counting Macroscopic amplitudes arise as sums over compatible microstates.Linearity follows from additive contributions at the amplitude level. Superposition is therefore emergent. It reflects coarse-graining, not a fundamental axiom. 3. Interference as Cross-Terms in Microstate Combinatorics Probabilities are quadratic because amplitudes sum before squaring.Cross-terms correspond exactly to interference effects. Interference is not assumed. It is a combinatorial consequence of microstate superposition. 4. Tensor Product Structure and the Origin of Entanglement Composite systems correspond to composite regions of the fabric.Global microstates factorize only if compatibility constraints separate. Entanglement arises when constraints couple subsystems. It is structural, not mysterious. 5. Decoherence from Phase Inaccessibility Observers access only coarse-grained variables.Rapidly varying microstate phases average out. Off-diagonal terms are dynamically suppressed.Decoherence emerges without postulation. 6. Measurement Collapse as Constraint Reduction Measurement is an interaction that reduces compatible microstates. The effective state updates accordingly. Collapse is not a new law.It is constraint updating under coarse-graining. 7. The Arrow of Time from Asymmetric State Counting Entropy is defined as the logarithm of compatible microstates.Local updates generically move toward larger compatible sets. Irreversibility is structural. It does not rely on subjective ignorance. 8. Coulomb Friction from Discrete Event Statistics Friction equals dissipated update energy per unit distance. The Coulomb law emerges from counting active interfacial events. The friction coefficient is not fundamental. It decomposes into microscopic event parameters. 9. Superlubricity as the Event-Free Limit Superlubricity occurs when locking events are suppressed.Dissipation is rare, not forbidden. This is a limit regime, not an exception. It confirms friction as emergent. 11. Conservation Laws from Update Invariance If the update rule is invariant under local transformations, conserved quantities emerge automatically. Noether’s theorem becomes emergent.Symmetry is a property of the update, not an axiom. 12. Classical Determinism from Phase Averaging At large scales, phase information becomes inaccessible.Only expectation values survive. Classical trajectories emerge statistically.Determinism is an effective limit. 13. Locality from Finite Update Propagation Updates propagate only through neighboring fabric nodes.Information speed is bounded. Causality is structural.Nonlocality is only apparent at coarse scales. 14. Emergent Speed Limit (c) The maximum update rate defines a universal speed. No signal can exceed it. The speed of light is not fundamental. It is a fabric update bound. 15. Metric Geometry from Update Delays Spatial curvature corresponds to spatially varying update rates.Time dilation is an update slowdown. Geometry is dynamical. The metric is emergent. 16. Gravity from Update Resistance Mass corresponds to structures resisting updates.Nearby updates slow down in response. Gravitational attraction emerges. No force field is postulated. 17. Equivalence Principle as a Structural Identity All stable update-resisting structures slow updates identically.Their response is universal. Inertial and gravitational mass coincide.Equivalence is automatic. 18. Quantization from Discrete Spectrum A finite update lattice admits discrete eigenmodes.Energy levels are quantized. Quantization is not imposed.Continuum is an approximation. 19. Noise Spectra (1/f) from Avalanche Dynamics Update cascades produce scale-free event statistics.Long-range correlations appear. 1/f noise is generic. It signals discrete underlying dynamics. 20. Criticality without Tuning The fabric naturally operates near instability thresholds.Small perturbations trigger cascades. Self-organized criticality emerges. No parameter tuning is required. 21. Thermodynamic Laws as Counting Theorems Temperature measures update activity density.Heat is disordered update flow. Thermodynamics is not independent. It is bookkeeping of updates. 22. Growth and Morphogenesis from Update Bias Directional update biases produce structured growth.Forms emerge without templates. Morphogenesis is dynamical.Shape follows update flow. 23. Fine-structure value and other unknow meaning The fine-structure value (~137) corresponds to the effective degeneracyof coherently contributing update configurations in an elementary coupling process.Proton–electron mass ratio the number of internal update cycles required to stabilize a topological vortex (proton), and a simple oscillatory update mode (electron). Mass measures cumulative resistance to updates. Lepton mass hierarchy Different stability thresholds of the same update pattern. Each mass corresponds to a different coherence regime.→ Families are metastable realizations of one structure. Reduced Planck constant Energy × time associated with one elementary update event. → ħ is the discrete unit of updating. Speed of light Maximum update propagation speed across the fabric. → c is the causal limit of the fabric. Bekenstein–Hawking entropy Number of blocked or saturated update configurations at the horizon. → An event horizon is an informational saturation boundary. Universal critical exponents They arise from the topology of update avalanches, independent of microscopic details. → Criticality is a natural fabric regime. Explanations Rarely Given in Existing Theories 1. Why probabilities are quadratic and not cubic or linear Most theories postulate P=∣ψ∣2P=|\psi|^2P=∣ψ∣2.Here it follows from coherent counting plus phase cancellation. The square is not a choice. It is the minimal stable coarse-graining. 2. Why quantum phases are physically unobservable but indispensable Phases affect interference but not outcomes directly. They label micro-configurations, not macrostates. Phase is structural memory.Measurement erases access to it. 3. Why constants are dimensionless and few Only ratios of update counts survive coarse-graining.Dimensional parameters wash out. Dimensionless constants are structural. They encode geometry, not dynamics. 4. Why “free parameters” cluster around simple numbers Many constants are order-one ratios or small inverses. They reflect combinatorial suppression. Fine tuning is apparent. It is state counting in disguise. 5. Why quantum randomness is stable and reproducible Randomness is not noise. It is deterministic micro-dynamics seen through coarse-graining. Statistics are invariant.Details are inaccessible. 6. Why identical particles are truly identical Microstates differ, macrostates do not.Labels are erased by update symmetry. Indistinguishability is enforced. It is not a postulate. 7. Why spin is quantized and half-integer values exist Spin counts topological winding in update cycles.Only discrete windings are stable. Half-integer spin reflects double-cover topology. No mystery remains. 8. Why gauge free
The space-cell theory toy-model program treats a particle-like object as a propagating informational excitation rather than fixed matter retained by the same substrate cells. The PH-EX1 branch tested whether a locally propagated, phase- and frequency-labeled photon-like packet can interact with a localized discrete bound system through absorption, temporary excitation, dwell, stimulated or dwell-gated release, partial scattering, and target-specific routing while preserving explicit energy-like and momentum-like ledgers. The branch was designed as a mechanism probe rather than a derivation of quantum electrodynamics. The final mechanism family combines local spatial evidence, frequency and mode matching, phase and provenance/authenticity gates, target-local ambiguity evaluation, a priming accumulator with reset, graded opponent suppression, delayed commit, finite bound-state dwell, partial reflection or scattering of unresolved packets, directional memory, recoil bookkeeping, and explicit pending/active/bound/emitted/scattered/escaped channels. The formalization in this paper separates three stages: evidence accumulation before commitment, a local absorption transaction, and a local release transaction. The branch progressed from PH1, where absorption and dwell worked but emission drain remained incomplete, through multimode and recoil tests, a PH4 midpoint-ambiguity failure, and successive PH5–PH7 ambiguity repairs. PH9 generalized the mechanism to randomized multitarget settings after ambiguity evidence was made target-local. PH11 used 960 Monte Carlo cases plus 144 deterministic stress corners sampled from an estimated 108,864-case factorial. The full scaled-local protocol passed all 172 retained full-protocol cases, with zero mean ambiguous and wrong-target absorption and maximum energy- and momentum-ledger residuals at numerical roundoff. Ablations identified partial reflection, target locality, graded opponent suppression, and especially directional memory as load-bearing. The strongest defensible conclusion is compatibility: in finite toy simulations, local absorption, bound excitation, dwell, emission, stimulated release, near-degenerate ambiguity rejection, false-channel rejection, target-specific routing, and explicit local ledgers can coexist in one mechanism family. The branch does not derive atomic spectra, field quantization, spontaneous emission from vacuum modes, the Born rule, dipole matrix elements, cross sections, or real photon momentum. Those remain formal and empirical obligations.
This work derives a Schrödinger-type evolution equation from first principles, starting exclusively from a discrete structural framework composed of JS-cells and SH-hub couplings. No quantum-mechanical postulates, complex wavefunctions, canonical quantization rules, or predefined physical constants are assumed at any stage. Each JS-cell carries a minimal two-channel real internal state, and neighboring cells interact locally through SH-hubs.Imposing a single universal requirement — strict conservation of a global quadratic structural norm — uniquely constrains the admissible dynamics. We show that: Norm preservation enforces an internal SO(2) symmetry, The unique generator of this symmetry is a real antisymmetric matrix J, Complex numbers and phase emerge only as a notation, not as assumptions, Local SH-hub connectivity forces a discrete Laplacian structure, The ordered continuum limit uniquely selects a first-order conservative time evolution. Only at the final stage is the resulting continuum equation identified as belonging to the Schrödinger universality class.Planck’s constant, mass, and potential appear as emergent structural parameters, fixed by discrete spatial and temporal scales. The derivation is non-circular, fully constructive, and independent of standard quantum axioms. An optional numerical sanity check confirms exact norm preservation and Schrödinger-class dispersion from the discrete update rule. This work provides a structural explanation for why Schrödinger dynamics exists, rather than assuming it.
