Abstract

The cybersecurity is confronted with new challenges due to the increase in cyberattacks in terms of their cleverness, speed, and lack of detection. The traditional security systems tend to be slow in countering the sophisticated attacks. Simultaneously, quantum computing is establishing opportunities and risks in regards to security. The paper reviews the literature on quantum computing and machine learning as approaches to enhancing cybersecurity and also explores the difficulties arising with quantum technologies. The paper is conducted based on the PRISMA framework to conduct the search, filtering, the assessment, and synthesis of recent studies on key scientific databases. According to the results hybrid quantum-classical computing and Quantum Neural Networks can enhance intelligent threat detection, predictive analytics, cyber risk assessment, security automation and autonomous security systems. The analysis also shows some key weaknesses, such as the lack of quantum hardware, quantum error correction issues, high computations, the absence of standard security frameworks, privacy issues, and the paucity of practical deployed research. The paper emphasizes that machine learning and quantum computing used together would make cyber resilience, aiding secure computing, enhancing digital forensic, and speeding up further cybersecurity innovation. It is; the review concludes that future studies in Energy in Quantum Security, Quantum-Resistant Security, Zero Trust Security and intelligent cyber defense systems will be important in creating safe, all-scale, and responsive cybersecurity infrastructures in the digitalized environment of the future.

Quantum Computing and AI: The Future of Cybersecurity Defense Mechanisms

Jayasudha Yedalla

Quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI) converge as a phenomenon that is changing cybersecurity defense mechanisms, providing both unprecedented opportunities and emergent challenges. With classical encryption becoming more susceptible to quantum-driven attacks, resilient quantum-safe protocols and AI-driven threat detection systems have become highly demanded. Recent studies point to the disruptive nature of quantum technologies in compromising traditional cryptography systems and, at the same time, provide novel countermeasures to disruptive technologies in the form of quantum cryptography, blockchain, and adaptive machine learning systems. The rising AI improves the active threat-hunting, zero-trust, and predictive analytics to detect advanced persistent threats in real-time across cloud, hybrid, and cyber-physical ecosystems. In the meantime, moral issues, institutional preparedness, and technological asymmetry pose obstacles to extensive adoption. The potential for a future-proof digital infrastructure with strategic integration of AI and quantum computing, advancing national security, and collaborating with partners around the world across the rapidly changing cyber threat could be a path forward. This article aims to critically assess the state of cybersecurity in the future by reviewing different academic and professional perceptions and experiences.

Quantum Machine Learning in Cybersecurity: A Review of Quantum-Safe and Quantum-Enhanced Approaches

Behnaz Rahgozar, Shirin Shoghli, Mehdi Yadollahi +1 more

Quantum computing is progressing rapidly, which brings both new opportunities and significant cybersecurity risks. This matter is particularly crucial since traditional cryptographic systems will be vulnerable to attacks in the quantum era. At the same time, quantum machine learning (QML) is becoming a promising way to improve threat detection, anomaly analysis, and secure communication using quantum-inspired and hybrid learning methods. This paper aims to review essential QML algorithms, including Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVM), Variational Quantum Circuits (VQC), Quantum Neural Networks (QNN), and Quantum Reinforcement Learning (QRL), while evaluating their prospective contributions to enhancing cybersecurity frameworks. We summarize recent simulation-based and early-stage experimental work, highlight their reported performance on benchmark datasets, and analyze major limitations related to hardware noise, data encoding bottlenecks, and scalability. The review also discusses unresolved issues and potential avenues for future research that could integrate quantum-safe and quantum-enhanced methods. The results indicate that, although the technology is still in its exploratory stage, QML has significant potential to enhance the creation of intelligent, resilient, and quantum-safe cybersecurity ecosystems.

Quantum Machine Learning for Enhanced Cybersecurity: Proposing a Hypothetical Framework for Next-Generation Security Solutions

Md. Forhad Hossain, Kamrul Hasan, Al Amin +1 more

The rapid evolution of cyber threats has rendered conventional security approaches inadequate for managing increasingly sophisticated risks. This study introduces a Quantum Machine Learning Cybersecurity Framework that leverages quantum computing and machine learning to enhance cybersecurity across multiple dimensions. The research employs a structured methodology, beginning with the integration of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) for secure key exchange and progressing through the deployment of Quantum Neural Networks (QNN) and Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVM) for anomaly detection and adversarial threat management. The framework also incorporates Quantum Reinforcement Learning (QRL) for autonomous incident response, a Quantum Authentication module for securing identity verification using biometric and behavioral data, and a Policy Compliance Interface powered by Quantum Compliance Analyzers for regulatory adherence. Experimental results demonstrated substantial improvements in cybersecurity metrics, including a 96% accuracy in threat detection, a 28% reduction in incident response time, and a 96% success rate in compliance simulations. These findings underscore the framework's capacity to offer adaptive, scalable, and efficient cybersecurity solutions tailored to modern challenges. This study provides a significant step toward integrating quantum technologies into practical cybersecurity applications, paving the way for future innovations in intelligent, secure, and adaptable defense systems.
