The quantum measurement problem and the arrow of time problem are two of the most fundamental unsolved problems in physics. This paper proves that they share the same geometric origin: the transition of the total information dissipation coefficient Υ from 0 to >0. Quantum collapse is a saddle-point bifurcation of Υ on a single quantum system — when the information dissipation channel opens, only a single classical saddle-point path survives among the quantum superposition states. Collapse and decoherence are not two independent processes but different stages of the same saddle-point bifurcation: decoherence is the early stage, and collapse is the late stage. The arrow of time is the macroscopic manifestation of Υ in statistical ensembles — irreversibility has two independent channels: Υ_E (energy dissipation, thermodynamic arrow) and Υ_φ (phase dissipation, information arrow). The two can be asynchronous: a pure dephasing system has Υ_φ>0 while Υ_E=0; collapse precedes thermalization. This independence yields testable predictions on cosmological scales: if the information arrow is activated before or after the thermodynamic arrow in the very early Universe, the primordial density fluctuations will retain distinct types of non-Gaussian features, whose shapes can be used to determine the activation order of the two channels. Foundational concepts of quantum mechanics — wave function, complex numbers, entanglement, decoherence, quantum–classical boundary — obtain a unified geometric definition within the order-parameter geometric framework. If experiments confirm that Υ_E and Υ_φ always change synchronously, or that log C(t) is linear rather than upward-curving, this theory is falsified.

AbstractThe origin of the arrow of time—why entropy always increases, why we can only remember the past—is one of the deepest puzzles in physics. Boltzmann’s statistical explanation attributes entropy increase to a low-entropy “past hypothesis,” but it does not explain the origin of this initial condition itself. Landauer’s principle reveals a quantitative connection between information erasure and heat dissipation, yet it does not answer why information erasure is fundamentally irreversible. This paper proposes a unified solution within the two-phase information conservation framework: the arrow of time is the macroscopic statistical manifestation of the irreversibility of information settlement between the material phase (Ξ) and the information phase (Ω). Each information settlement event simultaneously produces four outcomes: formation of an information record, local collapse of the material phase state, update of observer coherence parameters, and consumption of dark energy accompanied by heat release. Once settlement is completed, it cannot be undone; the unidirectional flow of time is precisely the macroscopic bookkeeping of this settlement irreversibility. Starting from the principle of least action incorporating two-phase coupling, we provide a rigorous proof that the settlement process is not invariant under time reversal, and derive a quantitative relation between the entropy production rate and the macroscopic information activity rate. This framework unifies the thermodynamic arrow, the quantum measurement arrow, the decoherence arrow, and the cosmological arrow as manifestations of the same settlement process at different scales, offering a natural explanation for the past hypothesis and the entanglement past hypothesis. We present three testable predictions: a weak dependence of the CHSH violation parameter on the measurement time difference in Bell experiments, a scaling relation between decoherence rate and information-phase coupling strength at ultra-low temperatures, and the gravitational memory effect as a cumulative signature of settlement records on cosmological scales. This work unifies the arrow of time with quantum measurement, black hole information processing, dark energy cosmology, quantum entanglement, the Higgs mechanism, and the third law of thermodynamics under a single cross-scale information settlement paradigm. Keywords: arrow of time, second law of thermodynamics, Landauer’s principle, information settlement, irreversibility, entropy increase, time-reversal symmetry breaking, gravitational memory effect, past hypothesis
Collapse-Induced Time Asymmetry and the Emergence of Classical Reality proposes a collapse-driven framework in which the emergence of classical definiteness and the arrow of time arise from the same underlying physical mechanism. Wavefunction collapse is treated as an intrinsic, irreversible process that progressively restricts the space of admissible quantum states, generating both temporal order and classical structure without reliance on observers, special boundary conditions, or externally imposed time asymmetry. The central contribution of this work is the introduction of an emergent collapse-ordering parameter, distinct from coordinate time, which indexes irreversible collapse events and provides a microscopic foundation for temporal asymmetry. Within this framework, stochastic localization resolves quantum indeterminacy, stabilizes macroscopic outcomes, and yields definite mass–energy configurations from which classical spacetime structure can emerge. Gravitational self-energy is reinterpreted not as the cause of collapse, but as a diagnostic of the energetic incompatibility between unrealized quantum alternatives. Collapse dynamics, entropy production, and geometric structure are shown to be mutually consistent aspects of a single irreversible process. The resulting picture unifies measurement resolution, the arrow of time, and classical emergence within a single collapse-based dynamical framework. This paper focuses on the theoretical structure and internal consistency of the proposed mechanism. A separate, accompanying repository paper will present proof-of-principle numerical simulations exploring collapse-driven information pruning, history-dependent backreaction, and emergent geometric behavior. These simulations are intended to illustrate qualitative features of the framework and to demonstrate dynamical stability and repeatability, rather than to provide quantitative gravitational modeling. Together, the theoretical analysis and forthcoming simulation results aim to clarify the physical role of collapse in the emergence of classical reality and temporal order.A companion repository containing proof-of-principle numerical simulations is available at Zenodo 10.5281/zenodo.18828923
The quantum–classical boundary is one of the deepest unsolved problems in physics. The Information Bottleneck Theorem of the Order Parameter Spacetime Theory provides a precise criterion: when the total information dissipation coefficient Υ=0, the system resides in the quantum sector (unitary evolution, entanglement conservation); when Υ>0, irreversible classicality emerges. How can this binary criterion be tested experimentally? This paper reveals that the binary nature of the Information Bottleneck Theorem—the transition of entanglement from "strict conservation" to "onset of decay"—does not manifest as a discontinuous jump of entanglement, but rather as a nonlinear signature in the decoherence rate. This nonlinearity originates from complex metric back-reaction: information dissipation alters the spacetime geometry, and the geometry in turn modifies the dissipation rate, forming an information–geometry closed loop. Specifically, for a two-qubit entangled state evolving under a pure dephasing channel, the standard Lindblad theory predicts that log C(t) is a straight line; the complex metric back-reaction predicts that log C(t) bends upward—the decay rate slows down as entanglement decreases, i.e., entanglement is protected. At the critical coupling α=1/r₀², the theory predicts exact protection of entanglement (C(t)=constant); in the strong-coupling regime α>1/r₀², the theory predicts that in the initial stage entanglement exceeds its maximum value (C>1). This paper provides a complete theoretical prediction and data analysis scheme to test these predictions using existing experimental data. The decision logic is binary: either log C(t) is a straight line (α=0, complex metric back-reaction falsified), or it is not (α>0, information–geometry closed loop verified).
The irreversible process of ‘wave packet collapse’ in quantum measurement contradicts the reversible characteristics of the Schrödinger equation and the entire quantum mechanics. This contradiction is actually the origin of measurement problems in quantum mechanics. How to resolve this contradiction is related to the understanding of some philosophical concepts. The Copenhagen School embraces the reversible/irreversible contradictions in quantum measurement through the principle of complementarity. Both von Neumann's measurement hypothesis and Everett's many world explanation adhere to the ‘universal position of the Schrödinger equation’, but due to their detachment from the thermodynamic mechanism analysis of quantum measurement processes, they fall into the dilemma of subjectivism or possible state materialization in ontology. Decoherence theory is a natural extension of dissipative structure theory in quantum mechanics, which helps to solve quantum measurement problems by combining the study of classical conversion mechanisms between reversibility and irreversibility in statistical mechanics. Due to the common statistical roots of the time arrow problem in classical mechanics and quantum mechanics, decoherence theory cannot be seen as a measurement theory that fully implements the ‘universal Schrödinger position’. Many contradictions in quantum mechanics may need to be cleverly resolved through various contradictions in classical physics.
The fundamental laws of classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, and general relativity are time-symmetric, yet macroscopic experience is irreversible without exception. Standard physics bridges this gap with statistical argument: reversal is treated as merely improbable, not physically inadmissible. This paper argues that the gap is an artifact of treating space as a continuum, and that it closes once space is treated as discrete, as in Quantum-Geometry Dynamics (QGD). Two independent grounds are identified for the categorical, non-statistical irreversibility of every elementary interaction in discrete space: a local ground, the loss of individual addressability when one particle's constituent preon(+)s merge into another upon absorption; and a global ground, the irreducible universal gravitational trace left by any positional change, given that gravity in QGD is instantaneous and universal in scope. Applied across four domains, this single result dissolves the arrow-of-time problem, grounds the second law of thermodynamics in dynamics rather than probability, dissolves the apparent asymmetry between unitary evolution and measurement collapse, and shows the reversible/irreversible distinction in quantum gate theory to be a feature of the abstract computational model rather than of physical mechanism. The result is shown to be compatible with, and silent on, whether a finite deterministic system's forward dynamics eventually revisit an earlier configuration by a non-retracing causal path. No new axiom or free parameter is introduced: the result follows from elements of QGD already established for independent reasons.
The problem of the origin of time, i.e., ”how time emerges from the foundationof quantum gravity,” is a central challenge in modern physics. This paper proposesa background-independent and computable emergence mechanism: time is not ana priori coordinate but rather a chain of partially ordered slices spontaneouslyorganized by quantum geometric states under the action of discrete renormalizationgroup flow. We construct a joint categorical framework that unifies the entanglement renormalization of spin networks and the geometric evolution of discrete Ricciflowas afunctorial evolution sequence. It is theoretically proven that when the jointevolution follows macroscopic monotonicity of entanglement entropy, this sequencenaturally generates a causal chain with a natural partial order. The macroscopic”time measure” is given by a topological invariant—the H0 barcode length in persistent homology—and its ”arrow of time” is locked by the irreversible growth ofentanglement entropy, without requiring additional thermodynamic or boundarycondition assumptions. We conduct large-scale numerical experiments on a 323periodic lattice, verifying the core theoretical prediction: the barcode lifetime Land the system’s low-energy spectral gap ∆ exhibit a universal inverse relationship, satisfying ∆ · L = 0.144(5), with a coefficient of determination R2 = 0.999.This mechanism directly leads to two observable cosmological predictions: 1) A”barcode modulation” in the low-ℓ power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background radiation, with characteristic scale ∆ℓ ≈ 3 and amplitude A ≈ 0.05; 2) Aprimordial stochastic gravitational wave background with peak frequency in the10−9–10−8 Hz range. These predictions can be tested by next-generation observational experiments such as CMB-S4 and SKA-PTA, thereby transforming the”origin of time” from a philosophical speculation into a computable, simulatable, and falsifiable physical problem.
