Social Media User Evaluation for Quantum Computing Technology Via Sentiment Analysis

Adel Assiri, Abdu Gumaei, Faisal Mehmood +1 more

Abstract Sentiment analysis is one of the most well-known applications of natural language processing (NLP) techniques used to determine a text's sentiment or emotional tone, such as a sentence, a paragraph, or an entire document. The goal of sentiment analysis is to identify and extract the underlying sentiment expressed by the author, whether positive or negative. Social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Google + are quickly gaining popularity due to the ability for users to share and express their opinions on many subjects, engage in conversation with different organizations, and broadcast messages globally. Sentiment analysis has been extensively studied to track and understand developer comments and views. Quantum software engineering develops software for quantum computers, which use quantum computing to process data. It has gained significant prominence in the field of software technology. Quantum computing may tackle issues that classical computers cannot, advancing cryptography, optimization, and material science. This study aims to explore the social media user review for quantum computing technology innovation in the current era. For this purpose, sentiment analysis applies to social media user reviews for quantum computing technology use. The extracted data is scrubbed through preprocessing techniques. TextBlob, VADER, and supervised learning classification methods have analyzed the sentiments and topics extracted from social media. Results show that quantum users are satisfied with using this soft computing technology and find this experience a successful, positive review for innovative quantum computing technology.

A Quantum Computing based Approach for Sentiment Analysis in Bilateral Conversations

Níyazí Furkan Bar, Musa Yenilmez, Sedef Aksu +1 more

Sentiment analysis finds widespread applications in health, marketing, finance, stock markets, media, and politics. To analyze attitudes and emotions in textual data, handling large datasets and significant computational power is essential. Traditional computing methods struggle with the growing data volume, prompting interest in quantum computing as a promising alternative with its inherent high-speed processing capacity. This study focuses on sentiment analysis applied to texts derived from bilateral conversation dialogues. The primary objective is to categorize emotions within the text as positive, neutral, or negative, while concurrently identifying the speaker. To achieve this, a novel quantum-classical hybrid approach is proposed. The quantum side of this approach includes the variational quantum circuit (VQC). On the classical side, preprocessing of the data set, feature extraction with a model containing LSTM, and optimizing the parameters of VQC are performed. The proposed approach was trained and tested using a data set containing bilateral conversations. As a result of the tests, the proposed approach achieved a higher accuracy rate compared to studies using the classical approach. Thus, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is confirmed.

A Survey of Quantum-cognitively Inspired Sentiment Analysis Models

Yaochen Liu, Qiuchi Li, Benyou Wang +2 more

Quantum theory, originally proposed as a physical theory to describe the motions of microscopic particles, has been applied to various non-physics domains involving human cognition and decision-making that are inherently uncertain and exhibit certain non-classical, quantum-like characteristics. Sentiment analysis is a typical example of such domains. In the last few years, by leveraging the modeling power of quantum probability (a non-classical probability stemming from quantum mechanics methodology) and deep neural networks, a range of novel quantum-cognitively inspired models for sentiment analysis have emerged and performed well. This survey presents a timely overview of the latest developments in this fascinating cross-disciplinary area. We first provide a background of quantum probability and quantum cognition at a theoretical level, analyzing their advantages over classical theories in modeling the cognitive aspects of sentiment analysis. Then, recent quantum-cognitively inspired models are introduced and discussed in detail, focusing on how they approach the key challenges of the sentiment analysis task. Finally, we discuss the limitations of the current research and highlight future research directions.

SentiQNF: A Novel Approach to Sentiment Analysis Using Quantum Algorithms and Neuro-Fuzzy Systems

Kshitij Dave, Nouhaila Innan, Bikash K. Behera +3 more

Sentiment analysis (SA) is an essential component of natural language processing (NLP) and is used to analyze sentiments, attitudes, and emotional tones in various contexts. It provides valuable insights into public opinion, customer feedback, and user experiences. Researchers have developed various classical machine learning (ML) and neuro-fuzzy approaches to address the exponential growth of data and the complexity of language structures in SA. However, these approaches often fail to determine the optimal number of clusters, interpret results accurately, handle noise or outliers efficiently, and scale effectively to high-dimensional data. In addition, they are frequently insensitive to input variations. In this article, we propose a novel hybrid approach for SA called the quantum fuzzy neural network (QFNN), which leverages quantum properties and incorporates a fuzzy layer to overcome the limitations of classical SA algorithms. In this study, we test the proposed approach on two Twitter datasets: the Coronavirus Tweets Dataset (CVTD) and the General Sentimental Tweets Dataset (GSTD), and compare it with classical and hybrid algorithms. The results show that QFNN outperforms all classical, quantum, and hybrid algorithms, achieving 100% and 90% accuracy in the case of CVTD and GSTD, respectively. Furthermore, QFNN demonstrates its robustness against six different noise models, providing the potential to tackle the computational complexity associated with SA on a large scale in a noisy environment. The proposed approach expedites sentiment data processing and precisely analyzes different forms of textual data, thus improving sentiment classification and insights associated with SA.

Quantum computing and machine learning for Arabic language sentiment classification in social media

Ahmed Omar, Tarek Abd El‐Hafeez

With the increasing amount of digital data generated by Arabic speakers, the need for effective and efficient document classification techniques is more important than ever. In recent years, both quantum computing and machine learning have shown great promise in the field of document classification. However, there is a lack of research investigating the performance of these techniques on the Arabic language. This paper presents a comparative study of quantum computing and machine learning for two datasets of Arabic language document classification. In the first dataset of 213,465 Arabic tweets, both classic machine learning (ML) and quantum computing approaches achieve high accuracy in sentiment analysis, with quantum computing slightly outperforming classic ML. Quantum computing completes the task in approximately 59 min, slightly faster than classic ML, which takes around 1 h. The precision, recall, and F1 score metrics indicate the effectiveness of both approaches in predicting sentiment in Arabic tweets. Classic ML achieves precision, recall, and F1 score values of 0.8215, 0.8175, and 0.8121, respectively, while quantum computing achieves values of 0.8239, 0.8199, and 0.8147, respectively. In the second dataset of 44,000 tweets, both classic ML (using the Random Forest algorithm) and quantum computing demonstrate significantly reduced processing times compared to the first dataset, with no substantial difference between them. Classic ML completes the analysis in approximately 2 min, while quantum computing takes approximately 1 min and 53 s. The accuracy of classic ML is higher at 0.9241 compared to 0.9205 for quantum computing. However, both approaches achieve high precision, recall, and F1 scores, indicating their effectiveness in accurately predicting sentiment in the dataset. Classic ML achieves precision, recall, and F1 score values of 0.9286, 0.9241, and 0.9249, respectively, while quantum computing achieves values of 0.92456, 0.9205, and 0.9214, respectively. The analysis of the metrics indicates that quantum computing approaches are effective in identifying positive instances and capturing relevant sentiment information in large datasets. On the other hand, traditional machine learning techniques exhibit faster processing times when dealing with smaller dataset sizes. This study provides valuable insights into the strengths and limitations of quantum computing and machine learning for Arabic document classification, emphasizing the potential of quantum computing in achieving high accuracy, particularly in scenarios where traditional machine learning techniques may encounter difficulties. These findings contribute to the development of more accurate and efficient document classification systems for Arabic data.
