Quantum artificial intelligence for cyber threat mitigation and enhanced cyber defense

Muhammad Abdul Hamid, Bashir Alam, Om Pal

Cybersecurity is crucial and has a worldwide significant impact in several industries that must be addressed to preserve, protect, and uphold the integrity of any system. Quantum artificial intelligence is a combination of quantum computing and machine learning techniques. It can be used for various cybersecurity applications that require advanced methodologies for cyberattack detection and prevention. Nowadays, traditional computers are reaching their limits and are becoming less effective against advanced attacks, which enables further requirements of quantum-based algorithms. The computational power of quantum computing can greatly reduce cybersecurity threats by facilitating advanced threat detection, rapid information processing, and automation of safety protocols that are extremely difficult to do with classical computing techniques. This chapter outlines the approach, future scope, hurdles, and areas of implementing quantum advancements to make our cyber defense system more sophisticated against cyber threats powered by quantum computers.

Future Development of Quantum Computing and Its Relevance to NATO

Rupert A. Brandmeier, Jörn-Alexander Heye, Clemens Woywod

IntroductionAlready in our era of “classical computing,” maintaining cybersecurity is an enormous challenge. After the 2007 cyberattacks on Estonia, in 2008, NATO adopted for the first time a “Cyber Defense Policy” and established the “Cyber Defense Management Authority” in Brussels.[1] NATO’s 2010 “Strategic Concept” acknowledges the importance of hybrid threats, including cyberattacks, as complex risks characterized by not being confined by geographical limits.

Designing intelligent cyber threat detection systems through quantum computing

Olalekan Olorunfemi Fagbo, Opeyemi Bilqees Adewusi, David Agyemfra Atakora +3 more

The ever-changing nature of cyber threats calls for a rapid innovative response that can arrest the situation. Quantum computing offers hope through its highly efficient and complex computing power that can intelligently detect cyber threats in the network systems. This paper examines the adoption of quantum computing into the frameworks for the detection of cyber threats. It also highlights the benefits, methodologies and real-world applications of quantum models. In addition, several quantum algorithms like Grover’s and Shor’s are assessed in terms of their contributions to cybersecurity or defense. This paper also includes methods, materials, comparative analysis, implementation strategies and practical applications in practical situations. Limitations, areas that require future research and the need to develop quantum-safe security mechanisms form the concluding part of this research paper.
