Toward p-adic Quantum Error Correction: The Metric Mismatch Hypothesis

Abstract

We propose that the persistent failure to demonstrate scalable quantum error correction has a structural cause: conventional QEC is built on Archimedean assumptions while the actual error structure of quantum systems may be ultrametric. We develop p-adic stabilizer codes, define a p-adic weight metric, prove a concatenation theorem, and formulate the metric mismatch hypothesis with falsifiable predictions.

Quantum Error Correction Is a Misnomer: From Metric Translation to Metric Resonance

Rowan Brad Quni-Gudzinas

Synthesis paper arguing that the term "quantum error correction" may be a misnomer — not because quantum information needs no protection, but because the concept of "error" presupposes a normative geometry that quantum dynamics may not respect. Drawing on the QNFO p-adic/adelic QEC research program (Phases A-E), the Silent Radix thesis, the Ultrametric Foundation thesis, and the Measurement as Hierarchical Distinction framework, this synthesis proposes a reframing from quantum error correction (QEC) to quantum metric resonance (QMR). Five falsifiable experimental tests are identified.

Ultrametric Information Geometry: From p-Adic Spaces to Quantum Error Correction

QNFO Research

Ultrametric spaces provide a natural geometry for systems organized hierarchically. This paper synthesizes research connecting ultrametric geometry to quantum information theory: Murtagh's data embedding, Heydeman's holographic QEC on Bruhat-Tits trees, Palmer's p-adic quantum foundations, and Aniello's p-adic Hilbert space formalism. QNFO contributions: D=4 embedding theorem, adelic QEC, CMB analysis.

Ultrametric Information Geometry: From p-Adic Spaces to Quantum Error Correction

Rowan Brad Quni-Gudzinas

Ultrametric spaces provide a natural geometry for hierarchically structured information. This paper synthesizes four independent research programs: Murtagh's data embedding in ultrametric spaces, Heydeman's holographic QEC on Bruhat-Tits trees, Palmer's p-adic quantum foundations, and Aniello's p-adic Hilbert space formalism. QNFO contributions: D=4 embedding theorem, adelic QEC, CMB analysis.
