Improving Quantum Parameter Estimation by Partial Measurements in Quantum Information Splitting

Abstract

We realize the quantum information splitting with respect to phase parameter through the quantum channel with multi-partite entangled states in the condition of the environmental noise. The protocol of quanutm information splitting is that the information encoded in quantum parameters from a sender can be recovered at any one of many receivers by means of measurements. It is found that a general partial measurement can help to enhance the quantum Fisher information under the influence of amplitude-damping noise. In the Markovian case, the values of quantum Fisher information are decreased monotically. In the non-Markovian case, there exists the oscillation of quantum Fisher information.

Enhancing teleportation of quantum Fisher information by partial measurements

Xing Mao Xiao, Yao Yao, Wo-Jun Zhong +2 more

The purport of quantum teleportation is to completely transfer information from one party to another distant partner. However, from the perspective of parameter estimation, it is the information carried by a particular parameter, not the information of total quantum state that needs to be teleported. Due to the inevitable noise in environments, we propose two schemes to enhance quantum Fisher information (QFI) teleportation under amplitude damping noise with the technique of partial measurements. We find that post-partial measurement can greatly enhance the teleported QFI, while the combination of prior partial measurement and post-partial measurement reversal could completely eliminate the effect of decoherence. We show that, somewhat consequentially, enhancing QFI teleportation is more economic than that of improving fidelity teleportation. Our work extends the ability of partial measurements as a quantum technique to battle decoherence in quantum information processing.

Enhancement of quantum Fisher information of quantum teleportation by optimizing partial measurements

Ying Wu, Jin-Fang Li, Liu Jin-Ming

The purpose of quantum teleportation is to achieve perfect transmission of quantum information from one site to another distant site. In the teleportation process, the quantum system is inevitably affected by its surrounding environment, causing the system to lose its coherence, which will result in distortion of the transmitted information. In recent years, weak measurement and measurement reversal have been proposed to suppress the decoherence of quantum entanglement and protect some quantum states. On the other hand, quantum Fisher information (QFI) is an important physical quantity in quantum metrology, which can give the optimal value estimating the accuracy of parameters. As is well known, QFI is highly susceptible to environmental noise and can lead its measurement accuracy to decrease. Therefore, it is of great importance to examine how to protect QFI from being influenced by the external circumstance during the teleportation procedure. In this paper, we study how to improve the QFI of teleporting a single-qubit state via a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state in a finite temperature environment with the technique of weak measurement and weak measurement reversal. According to different qubit transmission cases of three quantum teleportation schemes, we consider their respective QFIs in detail. After constructing the quantum logic circuit of each teleportation scheme, we first analyze the variance trend of QFI against the generalized amplitude damping noise parameters. Then by introducing weak measurement and measurement reversal on each noise particle of the three schemes, we optimize the related partial measurement parameters and explore the corresponding improved QFI, namely, the difference between the QFI with optimal partial measurements and that without partial measurements. We find that optimizing partial measurements can efficiently enhance the QFI of the teleported state for the three kinds of teleportation schemes at finite temperature. Moreover, with the value of p fixed, the lower the environment temperature, the larger the value of the improved QFI is. Our results could be useful in further understanding the applications of weak measurement and measurement reversal to the quantum communication process and may shed light on estimating some relevant quantum parameters and implementing quantum information tasks.

Decoherence effects on quantum Fisher information of multi-qubit W states

T Homayoun, Korosh Aghayar

Quantum fisher information of a parameter characterizing the sensitivity of a state with respect to parameter changes. In this paper, we study the quantum fisher information of the W state for four, five, six and seven particles in decoherence channels, such as amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarizing channel. Using Krauss operators for decoherence channels components, we investigate the quantum fisher information quite analytically. We observe that for the W state, the amount of the quantum fisher information and consequently, the amount of entanglement are reduced by applying the quantum noises, which affect each particle in the same way. In some cases, a relative increase appears in the quantum fisher information for certain values of the decay strength p. We also show that the phase damping channel vanishes the value of the quantum fisher information for the W state.

Enhancement of parameter-estimation precision by weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal under various non-Markovian decoherence sources

Qiong Wang, Lan Xu, Zhi He

Abstract We investigate the effect of the weak measurement (WM) and quantum measurement reversal (QMR) on the improvement of the precision of parameter estimation for a qubit interacting with various non-Markovian decoherence sources: amplitude damping, dephasing damping and random unitary damping, respectively. We derive the exact expressions of the optimal quantum Fisher information, show explicitly that the WM and QMR operation indeed helps for enhancing the precision of parameter estimation from amplitude damping and phase damping, but not for random unitary damping. In particular, we found that the enhancement effect is independent of the specific form of the spectral density of the reservoir, which extends the applicable scope of the WM and QMR approach.

Ancilla-assisted enhancement of channel estimation for low-noise parameters

Masahiro Hotta, Tokishiro Karasawa, Masanao Ozawa

In order to make a unified treatment for estimation problems of a very small noise or a very weak signal in a quantum process, we introduce the notion of a low-noise quantum channel with one noise parameter. It is known in several examples that prior entanglement together with nonlocal output measurement improves the performance of the channel estimation. In this paper, we study this ``ancilla-assisted enhancement'' for estimation of the noise parameter in a general low-noise channel. For channels on two level systems we prove that the enhancement factor, the ratio of the Fisher information of the ancilla-assisted estimation to that of the original one, is always upper bounded by $3∕2$. Some conditions for the attainability are also given with illustrative examples.

parameters, in the presence of the Unruh effect experienced by a mode of a free Dirac field. We investigate the effects of the partial measurement (PM) and partial measurement reversal (PMR) on the quantum resources and quantum Fisher information (QFI) of the teleported states. In particular, we discuss the optimal behaviour of the QFI, quantum coherence (QC) as well as fidelity with respect to the PM and PMR strength and examine the effect of the Unruh noise on optimal estimation. It is found that, in the single-qubit scenario, the PM (PMR) strength at which the optimal estimation of the phase parameter occurs is the same as the PM (PMR) strength with which the teleportation fidelity and the QC of the teleported single-qubit state reaches its maximum value. On the other hand, generalizing the results to two-qubit teleportation, we find that the encoded information in the weight parameter is better protected against the Unruh noise in two-qubit teleportation than in the one-qubit scenario. However, extraction of information encoded in the phase parameter is more efficient in single-qubit teleportation than in the two-qubit version.
