We present DOKU (Discrete Ontological Quantum Updating), a framework in which the direction of wavefunction collapse is determined by a physical principle: maximisation of environmental redundancy. While existing collapse models (GRW, CSL, Penrose-Diósi) address the timing of collapse, none addresses which outcome is selected beyond the Born-rule probability. DOKU proposes that this question has a physical answer rooted in quantum Darwinism: outcomes that leave more redundant environmental records are systematically favoured. The framework unifies the Penrose-Diósi gravitational timescale, quantum Darwinism, and quantum discord as the information measure, embedded in causal set discrete spacetime. Five innovations over prior models: (1) collapse direction is predicted from first principles; (2) quantum discord D(ρ) — basis-independent and locally unitarily invariant — replaces ad hoc measures; (3) no-signalling is proved via the trace-linearity argument; (4) a full GKSL Lindblad form is derived with discord-weighted jump rates; (5) a closed numerical prediction Δp₀ ≈ −5α × 10⁻³² is given for a specific two-qubit protocol. Three falsifiable predictions distinguish DOKU from existing models, including a CMB non-Gaussianity signature and discord-selective decoherence asymmetry. The framework additionally provides a derivation of emergent classicality: macroscopic objects have definite positions because photon environments redundantly encode position above all other bases. Open problems are stated explicitly.

Dynamical collapse models secure the occurrence of definite outcomes, and decoherence theory explains the dynamical stability of preferred bases. Two structural questions are frequently run together in discussions of what these accounts leave open: which set of channels serves as the collapse basis, and what distinguishes the realised outcome among the admissible ones. We separate the two and give each a variational formulation that is provably consistent with standard quantum statistics. For the second question we define the outcome cost of a target outcome law as the minimal relative entropy, on the path space of the collapse dynamics, of any trajectory measure realising that law. We prove that this cost equals the Kullback–Leibler divergence from the Born distribution, so that the Born law is the unique zero-cost outcome law and the cost of a single outcome k is its surprisal −log pk. For continuous quantum-non-demolition collapse we show that the least-cost dynamics conditioned on outcome k is the Doob h-transform of the collapse dynamics, and that −log pk equals the expected integrated squared steering drift. For the first question we prove that, under pure-dephasing system–environment coupling, the coarsest channel set with zero decoherence cost is the eigen-decomposition of the coupling observable, and we state a compatibility condition that collapse operators must meet to share this basis. Finally, we show that sharp-threshold mathematics applies naturally to the registration of an outcome in redundant environmental records, not to the selection of the outcome itself. The framework introduces no new dynamics, does not derive the Born rule, and makes no empirical predictions beyond those of the underlying collapse model.
Note: This document is a mathematical and structural companion to the core theoretical framework of the Directed Weave. Please refer to the primary paper here: [Insert Link/DOI to Core Document]. Abstract: This paper provides a rigorous mathematical boundary map for the Directed Weave framework, which proposes that a measurement's outcome and time's arrow are a single directed event. We evaluate the framework's central falsifiable claim: that gravitational wave-function collapse depends on the structure of an entangled state, including entanglement that is invisible to the one-point mass density operator ⟨ρ^(x)⟩. Applying standard phenomenological bounds and quantum information theorems, we map the logical structure of this claim and establish a strict dichotomy for its physical realization. First, we show that any "information gravitates" coupling is already severely squeezed by existing empirical data, bounded by equivalence-principle tests (α≤10−12) and spin-coherence records (Γanom≤10−4 s−1). Second, using the [[5, 1, 3]] quantum error correction code as an explicit witness, we prove (Proposition 1) that no bounded-range coupling can make collapse timing dependent on non-local entanglement. Furthermore, we demonstrate that any classical sequential growth dynamics in a causal-set realization is bounded by the CHSH inequality (≤2) and is therefore mathematically incapable of reproducing Born statistics (22) without violating the no-signalling constraint. Conclusion (Proposition 2): Every constructible, locally-coupled realization of this framework reduces to the standard Continuous Spontaneous Localization (CSL) family, carrying none of the distinctive non-local entanglement mechanics. Conversely, every genuinely non-local realization requires an unsolved quantum-gravity mechanism (either lab-scale holography or a quantum measure for causal sets). This paper serves as a formal no-go map, demonstrating that no single realization of entanglement-dependent collapse is currently both mechanically novel and theoretically complete. The quantum measurement problem — the question of why linear, unitary quantum mechanics yields definite measurement outcomes — has remained open since its formulation in 1927. Existing approaches either postulate collapse (Copenhagen), eliminate it (Everett), or parametrise it phenomenologically through free parameters (GRW spontaneous localisation, Penrose objective reduction). None derive it from the geometry of spacetime. This paper demonstrates that wavefunction collapse is a deterministic geometric process: the relaxation of metric tension across the T²/ℤ₂ orbifold sector of the K₈ manifold within the twelve-dimensional Master Equation framework. The metric stiffness S(𝒬) — comprising both the Randall–Sundrum warp factor and the Spin^c gauge flux energy — determines a corrected collapse timescale: where 𝒬 = ω(ψ − ψ̄)² is the Quantum Coherence Dilaton. This formula produces three distinct regimes without free parameters: an isolated electron (𝒬 → 0) maintains coherent superposition for ∼10¹⁶ τ_Pl; macroscopic inert matter collapses on a power-law timescale τ_coll ∝ 1/𝒬 driven by the Spin^c flux; a high-𝒬 system undergoes effectively instantaneous actualisation at the Planck scale (a geometric Zeno effect). The Born probability rule P_i ∝ |ψ_i|² is proved to be preserved exactly under the Spin^c quarter-period holonomy e^{iπ/2}: the phase cancels identically in the modulus squared. The principal falsifiable prediction is a complexity wall — a sharp, non-linear drop in coherence time at a critical system complexity, distinguishable from the smooth exponential decay of standard environmental decoherence. The same Spin^c flux that stabilises the vacuum and yields Λ_eff ≈ 10⁻¹²² M_Pl⁴ (Paper IV) sets the stiffness profile governing collapse.
We show that any objective collapse model satisfying (i) Markovian dynamics, (ii) Lindblad consistency, and (iii) pointer-basis localization is necessarily geometry-dependent: collapse rates are controlled by the spectral bottleneck D∗Σ, not by particle number, entanglement, or Hilbert-space dimension. This follows from the structure of pointer-diagonal Lindblad generators and does not require interpretational assumptions. Building on this foundation, we develop a min-imal completion of quantum mechanics—in the same technical sense as GRW/CSL—with two additional physical commitments: (A) the noise record is ontologically real, making outcomes deterministic given the record; and (B) the noise metric has gravitational origin, Σ = Σ(G)/ℏ, where the 1/r spatial structure is derived from linearized quantum gravity and the amplitude is fixed up to order-unity regularization. This yields the Penrose-Di´osi timescale τ ∼ℏ/∆EG as a derived result rather than an ansatz. The framework predicts that GHZ and Cluster states with the same particle number collapse at rates differing by a factor of n—a ratio that constitutes a parameter-free experimental test. This prediction has been validated on IBM quantum hardware, with sub-percent prefactor agreement for the theorem applied to environmental noise. We iden-tify a window λ0 ∈[10−20,10−10] Hz for the fundamental collapse rate, consistent with current bounds. Applications include: intrinsic geometric robustness of quantum error-correcting codes,Noise Geometry Tomography for reverse-engineering transport coefficients, and testable cosmo-logical implications. Within the class of Markovian CPTP collapse models that localize in a pointer basis, geometry-dependence is a theorem; models outside this class (e.g., non-Markovian,Everettian, or contextual) are not constrained by our result.
Standard quantum mechanics predicts probabilities via the Born rule but does not explain individual outcome selection. This paper introduces the Relational Collapse Framework (RCF), a candidate theory for the quantum-classical transition that frames collapse as a competition between unitary invariance and thermodynamic pressure. Unlike ad hoc collapse models (CSL/GRW), RCF is constructed as a geometrically constrained flow on the probability simplex defined by a specific "tug of war": Invariant Flow: A relaxation toward the Born distribution, derived as a Shahshahani-metric gradient descent of a thermodynamic free energy. Transient Forcing: A thermodynamic bias driven by environmental information-gain rates (μi), representing the breakdown of martingale protection under high information pressure. We show that while standard quantum trajectories enforce a "martingale property" that strictly preserves the Born rule via noise-state correlations, thermodynamic arguments suggest this cancellation is an idealization that may fail in regimes of high asymmetry. This framework bridges the gap between foundations and the lab. It posits a direct conflict between the Null Hypothesis(Standard QM, zero drift) and the Thermodynamic Hypothesis (RCF), predicting a concrete, falsifiable transient probability skew (∣δ∣∼10−3) in asymmetric circuit QED environments. The paper provides a rigorous mathematical formulation of the modified dynamics and defines a clear experimental "kill criterion" for the theory.
Abstract:The quantum measurement problemthe fundamental conict between the deterministic, unitary evolution described by the Schrödinger equation and the stochastic, irreversible outcomes observed in experimentshas remained unresolved since the inception of quantum mechanics nearly a century ago. Here we demonstrate that the Chrono-Singularity Unication (CSU) framework provides a complete, rst-principles resolution of all ve components of the measurement problem with zero adjustable parameters. From a minimal informational substrate ΨI characterized by three internally-calibrated constants (α = ln 2, β = ln 2, w = −1), we derive: (i) the Born rule P = |ψ| 2 as a mathematical necessity via the GNS construction and spectral theorem; (ii) the emergence of the preferred (position) basis through Dobrushin concentration bounds on redundant environmental records; (iii) single denite outcomes from the sampled-history ontology without dynamical collapse; (iv) full compatibility with special relativity through topological linking that preserves no-signaling while permitting Bell-inequality violation; and (v) unique, falsi- able experimental predictions including a mass-dependent gravitational decoherence oor testable in near-future molecular interferometry experiments. Significance:This framework provides the exact geometric scaling required to resolve the Hubble tension and derives the Diósi-Penrose gravitational decoherence floor (τ=ℏ/ΔEG) strictly as a low-energy macroscopic limit. This paper serves as the theoretical foundation for a fully deterministic, parameter-free unification of quantum mechanics and general relativity.
