Active Eavesdropping in Short Packet Communication: Average Secrecy Throughput Analysis

Nihan Arı, Nikolaos Thomos, Leila Musavian

In this paper, we investigate secure short packet transmission from a legitimate transmitter to a receiver in the presence of an active eavesdropper. The aim is to gain more insights into how an active eavesdropper affects the secrecy throughput of short packet communications. The eavesdropper is assumed to have full-duplex (FD) capability, which enables performing eavesdropping and jamming simultaneously. All the communication links in the wiretap channel are assumed to be Rayleigh fading. An approximation of the average achievable secrecy throughput is proposed to measure the security of the system. The proposed approximation is examined and analysed in two different topology scenarios, which are triangular and line topologies. Then, Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to get an understanding of how good the approximation is. The results show that the closed-form expressions have a good match with Monte-Carlo simulations. We also investigate the impact of the eavesdropper's distance to the legitimate nodes as well as the different jamming power levels. Furthermore, self-interference influence on the eavesdropper is discussed.

Secure short-packet communications using a full-duplex receiver

Dechuan Chen, Jin Li, Jianwei Hu +2 more

In this work, we consider the physical layer security in short-packet communications, where a full-duplex (FD) receiver receives information signals from a source while generating artificial noise (AN) to confuse an eavesdropper. Taking into account the finite blocklength coding and the self-interference (SI) in FD mode, we derive new approximation closed-form expression for the secrecy throughput. Moreover, we analyze the asymptotic secrecy throughput in two distinct scenarios, i.e., high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime and infinite blocklength coding, to gain more insights. Our examination illustrates the correctness of our expressions and shows how the critical system variables affect the secrecy throughput.

Network Layer Secrecy Performance Of The Forwarding Functionality Using Dsa Generation

Sandhya.V*, Sharmila.R.V, Deepa.N

A full duplex system with sources, relay and destination nodes for secrecy communication in the presence of an eavesdropper is investigated. Using geometrical perspective the secrecy region of secrecy performance will be evaluated. Degradation of the detection performance for legitimate receiver is carried out. We consider the generation of a secret key (SK) by the inputs and the channel. Encryption is attained using the RC4 algorithm which generates the hash code. Source can decide the duplex. If the specified network is half duplex then the process will be one way communication otherwise it will be two way communication. Physical layer is the full duplex and half duplex relay network of the system performance. Full duplex process is accomplished by CSMA/CD.
