Firewall Paradox (Wall‑of‑Fire Paradox): Another Manifestation of the Crisis of "Informational Language", Not a Physical Contradiction

Abstract

This article analyses the firewall paradox (wall‑of‑fire paradox, AMPS) — one of the most discussed challenges to modern quantum gravity. The paradox arises from an apparent contradiction between three postulates: the unitarity of quantum mechanics, the semiclassical description of Hawking radiation, and Einstein’s equivalence principle. Proponents of “informational language” argue that to save information, one must abandon the equivalence principle and accept the existence of a high‑energy “firewall” at the event horizon of a collapsar. It is shown that the firewall paradox is a problem of “informational language” , not a physical contradiction. The paradox is rooted in the conflation of the three senses of “information” (configuration, observer’s knowledge, pseudosubstance) introduced in Article 1. When reformulated in physical language (configuration, quantum correlations, unitary evolution), the need for a “firewall” disappears. Monogamy of entanglement is a property of quantum correlations, not an “informational principle”. The change in correlation structure after Page time is a technical problem, not a fundamental contradiction. Alternative approaches (Susskind’s complementarity) that do not require a firewall are considered. Responses to possible objections are given. The reformulation preserves the equivalence principle, eliminates the pseudo‑paradox, and turns the problem into a technical description of quantum correlations. The article is the seventh in the series “Reformulating Key Concepts of Physics Without Informational Language”. Keywords: firewall paradox, wall of fire, AMPS, collapsar, information, quantum correlations, monogamy of entanglement.

Pseudoparadox of the Collapsar: Why the "Black Hole Information Paradox" Disappears when Distinguishing the Ontic and the Epistemic

Alexander Yourievitch Kotelnikov

This article analyses the so‑called “black hole information paradox” — one of the most discussed problems in modern theoretical physics. It is shown that the paradox arises only within the framework of “informational language”, where the word “information” is used in three different senses that become conflated. A distinction is introduced between the ontic (the physical configuration of the system, existing independently of any observer) and the epistemic (the observer’s knowledge about the system). A simple description of Hawking radiation is given: quantum fluctuations near the horizon of a collapsar produce pairs of particles; one falls inward, the other escapes, creating the appearance of evaporation. Based on this distinction, a reformulation of the problem is proposed in terms of physical objects without the ontologised concept of “information”. In this reformulation, a collapsar (so‑called “black hole”) is a compact massive object into whose gravitational capture zone physical systems are drawn. Crossing the event horizon means an epistemic loss (the observer ceases to know the configuration), not an ontological destruction. The unitarity of quantum mechanics is not violated because the total quantum state of the system evolves reversibly. The main counter‑arguments (the firewall paradox, the unproven status of correlations in Hawking radiation) are examined and answered. It is shown that the “information paradox” disappears, leaving a technical problem of describing quantum correlations. This article is the first in the series “Reformulating Key Concepts of Physics Without Informational Language”. Keywords: collapsar, information paradox, ontic, epistemic, configuration, observer’s knowledge.

Programmatic Article: Reformulating Key Concepts of Physics Without Informational Language

Alexander Yourievitch Kotelnikov

This programmatic article (zeroth in the series “Reformulating Key Concepts of Physics Without Informational Language”) outlines a systematic replacement of “informational language” by physical language. It shows that many paradoxes of modern physics — the collapsar information paradox, Landauer’s principle as “proof of the physicality of information”, the holographic principle as “the informational nature of reality”, and Wheeler’s thesis “It from Bit” (“Everything from the bit”) — arise from conflating three senses of the word “information”: configuration (physical state), observer’s knowledge (epistemic category), and pseudosubstance (metaphysical construct, to be rejected). The key distinction between the ontic (pertaining to reality itself) and the epistemic (pertaining to our knowledge) is introduced. Confusing these levels is the root of pseudo‑paradoxes. On this basis, the article proposes to reformulate eight key concepts (each covered in a separate article of the series): the collapsar pseudo‑paradox, Landauer’s principle, the holographic principle, Wheeler’s thesis, entropy as “missing information”, as well as to compile a correspondence dictionary, analyse the firewall paradox, and address the technical problem of quantum state recovery. The aim of the reformulation is to eliminate pseudo‑problems, return physics to describing matter, fields, and space‑time, and provide a practical tool (dictionary) for switching to clear physical language. The article invites the scientific community to discussion. Keywords: informational language, reformulation, ontic, epistemic, collapsar, programmatic article.

Acoustic Firewalls: Analogue Gravity Perspective on the AMPS Paradox

Nikolay S. Akintsov, Artyom P. Nevecheria, Stepan N. Andreev +1 more

The monogamy of quantum entanglement, applied by Almheiri-Marolf-Polchinski-Sully (AMPS) to black holes, obstructs a smooth horizon vacuum after the Page time. We transcribe this argument to Hawking-like phonon radiation from a sonic horizon in the Unruh acoustic metric. An exact purity identity shows that post-Page-time unitarity forces the entanglement between an outgoing phonon and its interior partner to vanish, selecting a non-Hadamard (Boulware-like) phonon state, which we define as an acoustic firewall. Its renormalized stress tensor differs from the smooth state by a constant, negative near-horizon flux, and the thermal-atmosphere energy density it removes, measured by a static calorimeter, grows as $(δr)^{-2}$ in the radial coordinate toward the horizon (singular in the free-fall frame), cut off at the healing length. The construction is kinematic and does not resolve the information paradox; it yields one concrete, falsifiable prediction: a differential phonon-calorimetry signal $\mathcal{R}(δr)=|Δ\mathcal{E}|/\mathcal{E}^{(0)}\to(\ell_κ/δr)^{2}$, present only after the analogue Page time in a Bose-Einstein condensate.

Multipartite entanglement and firewalls

Shengqiao Luo, Henry Stoltenberg, Andreas Albrecht

Black holes offer an exciting area to explore the nature of quantum gravity. The classic work on Hawking radiation indicates that black holes should decay via quantum effects, but our ideas about how this might work at a technical level are incomplete. Recently Almheiri-Marolf-Polchinski-Sully (AMPS) have noted an apparent paradox in reconciling fundamental properties of quantum mechanics with standard beliefs about black holes. One way to resolve the paradox is to postulate the existence of a ``firewall'' inside the black hole horizon which prevents objects from falling smoothly toward the singularity. A fundamental limitation on the behavior of quantum entanglement known as ``monogamy'' plays a key role in the AMPS argument. Our goal is to study and apply many-body entanglement theory to consider the entanglement among different parts of Hawking radiation and black holes. Using the multipartite entanglement measure called negativity, we identify an example which could change the AMPS accounting of quantum entanglement and perhaps eliminate the need for a firewall. Specifically, we constructed a toy model for black hole decay which has different entanglement behavior than that assumed by AMPS. We discuss the additional steps that would be needed to bring lessons from our toy model to our understanding of realistic black holes.

On the Resolution of the Black Hole Information Paradox and Firewall Exclusion via the ΔH-Δt Boundary Formalism and Observer-State Interaction Dynamics

On the Resolution of the Black Hole Information Paradox and Firewall Exclusion via the Boundary Formalism and Observer-State Interaction Dynamics Michael Allan A. Bahtaji, Ph.D. Department of Physics, College of Science Technological University of the Philippines Ayala Boulevard, Ermita, Manila, Philippines, 1000 Email: michaelallan_bahtaji@tup.edu.ph | michaelallanbahtaji336@gmail.com Abstract We present a self-contained, unitary quantum gravitational framework resolving the Black Hole Information Paradox and eliminating the AMPS energetic firewall problem. Utilizing the Finite Boundary Formalism, we establish that the event horizon acts as a dynamic state-density boundary governed by the inverse relation . By coupling the density matrix evolution of the black hole-radiation system to the observer-state interaction operator , we derive an exact conservation equation for the fine-grained entanglement entropy . We demonstrate that beyond the Page time , a negative observer-state interaction gradient forces the emission of high-order multi-qubit correlations via localized state fluctuations . This mechanism reproduces the symmetric Page curve, enforcing complete information recovery and -matrix unitarity () while preserving smooth Horizon geometry without singular energetic firewalls.

Topological Dissolution of Entanglement: A Declarative Computational Falsification of the AMPS Firewall

Mark A. Edwards

For over a decade, the AMPS "Firewall" paradox has forced an irreconcilable fracture in theoretical physics, requiring the abandonment of either the equivalence principle or the unitarity of quantum mechanics. This paradox relies entirely on a false foundational assumption: that the spatial vacuum possesses infinite data-processing capacity, allowing an infalling particle to maintain its continuous kinematic degrees of freedom across the event horizon. This repository contains the formal manuscript and executable computational proof falsifying the AMPS Firewall. By mapping the event horizon strictly as a macroscopic Bekenstein-Landauer saturation boundary ($C_{crit}$), we demonstrate that the dissolution of quantum entanglement requires no infinite energy barriers, non-local signaling, or procedural physics equations. The ICF Hammer (Declarative Physics): Traditional quantum models rely on procedural equations of motion. The Python engine provided in this repository is purely declarative. We do not write a single line of code instructing the entanglement connection to break, and we do not program a firewall to sever it. We simply enforce the strict thermodynamic capacity limit of the spatial vacuum. When the localized geometric capacity required to anchor an entangled channel drops to zero, the channel mathematically ceases to exist. The distant eigenmode structurally decoheres as a deterministic, emergent thermodynamic necessity. The firewall is a mathematical hallucination; it is herein replaced by topological dissolution. Repository Contents: Entanglement_Saturation_Boundary.pdf: The complete theoretical manuscript, including the embedded storyboard and cross-domain unified index. Entanglement_Storyboard.png: High-resolution, 2-panel diagram detailing the physical geometry of the saturation crossing.
