The author proposes two postulates for the foundation of time and spacetime in open quantum systems. Postulate P1 (Time): the proper time of an open quantum system is generated by the integral of its boundary structural-persistence functional Φ on the variationally selected autonomous boundary. Postulate P2 (Spacetime): spacetime is the synchronisation pattern of a network of open-system boundary Φ-clocks coupled through shared baths. From P1 the author derives (i) a thermodynamic clock τ_∂ = ∫ Φ ds, whose sign and magnitude classify structure-building, structure-maintaining, and structure-dissolving regimes; and (ii) two channels of local arrow-inversion windows (monitored feedback Φ_fb > 1; non-Markovian backflow Φ_NM > 1), bounded in duration by the local entropy budget and consistent with the global second law (Sagawa-Ueda for feedback; memory-induced negative σ_irr for backflow). From P2 the author derives (iii) a synchronisation functional Σ_ij between two Φ-clocks coupled through a shared bath, with the Connes-Rovelli thermal time hypothesis recovered in a triple limit (joint KMS state + Σ → 1 + Spohn-modular reduction); and (iv) an induced graph distance d_ij = -log|<X_i X_j>|/N that satisfies the triangle inequality on a metric-compatibility regime operationally characterised by joint CP-divisibility and absence of BLP non-Markovianity witnesses on the relevant triangles. The two witness conditions are jointly necessary for the triangle inequality on this regime; their sufficiency is conjectured under qualifications stated in the manuscript and listed as an open problem. The author provides a complete epistemic-status audit of every quantitative claim and an explicit comparison with the principal existing programmes on time and emergent spacetime: Connes-Rovelli thermal time hypothesis, Page-Wootters conditional time, Van Raamsdonk / AdS-CFT entanglement-based emergence, causal set theory (Sorkin), Verlinde / Padmanabhan thermal gravity, and Wolfram hypergraph rewriting. The audit of falsifiable predictions, the experimental discriminators (3-qubit feedforward, directional asymmetry, triangle inequality), and the worked-case reanalysis of Micadei et al. (2019) are the subject of the companion Preprint II.

This preprint develops a unified coherence-based formulation of physical time grounded in the χ–η–I invariant structure of the Aletheia framework. Across quantum, thermodynamic, gravitational, and cosmological regimes, the paper introduces a scalar coherence potential Ψ constructed from purity, entropy, and structural persistence, and proposes that the physical time increment satisfies the differential law: dt = –κ dΨ In this formulation, time flow is the measurable rate at which coherence is depleted through decoherence, coarse-graining, or environmental coupling. When Ψ is constant—as in globally stationary, Page–Wootters–style quantum states—no internal time elapses. When coherence degrades, time emerges as the bookkeeping of informational loss. The paper demonstrates that this temporal-coupling law naturally reproduces: Thermodynamic time in the macroscopic limit (dt ∝ dS), Quantum decoherence arrows in open-system dynamics, Proper-time–like behavior in weakly decohering or isolated systems, Cosmological time flow via mode decoherence in an expanding FRW universe. Explicit models including qubit dephasing, Lindblad oscillators, and cosmological field modes illustrate how temporal coupling unifies arrows of time across domains traditionally treated with separate frameworks. This formulation provides a coherence-theoretic bridge between general relativity, quantum decoherence, and thermodynamic irreversibility, offering an empirically grounded alternative to conventional parameter-time, thermal time, and entanglement-clock approaches.
This is the thrid paper of the series of three: Spacetime and Gravity as Emergent Quantum Entanglement — A Proof of Concept The paper closes the three principal open questions of the series by identifying the physical boundary Hamiltonian, fixing all free thermodynamic parameters, and establishing that the boundary theory is maximally chaotic. Four results are proved: Theorem A identifies the boundary Hamiltonian as the Sachdev–Ye–Kitaev model: an explicit Collins–Śniady Weingarten calculation applied to the binary tree encoder's unitary 2-design property shows that the tree ensemble average and the SYK disorder average produce identical Gaussian coupling variance at leading order in 1/χ, yielding the same Schwinger–Dyson equations and the same conformal Green function G(τ) = −b·J⁻¹/²·sgn(τ)/|τ|¹/², establishing H_R = H_SYK as an equality of disorder-averaged effective field theories. Theorem B derives the previously free Schwarzian coefficient and topological dilaton — φ_r = (πb²N/16J)·log(J/Δ) and φ_0 = N/(2log₂χ) — making the near-extremal black hole entropy a parameter-free prediction. Theorem C proves that the quantum Lyapunov exponent saturates the Maldacena–Shenker–Stanford chaos bound at λ_L = 2πT, with scrambling time t* ~ β log N, placing the boundary theory in the fast-scrambling and GUE random-matrix universality class. Theorem D confirms the boundary stress-tensor two-point function ⟨T(x)T(0)⟩ = 6log₂χ/(2x²) as an unconditional theorem, consistent with an effective central charge c_eff = 6log₂χ. A corollary shows that the Bisognano–Wichmann assumption of Paper II is unnecessary once the explicit boundary Hamiltonian is in hand. Together with Papers I and II, this paper completes the derivation of the full holographic dictionary for the binary tree model — from a discrete quantum network to emergent geometry, physical time, gravitational field equations, and quantum chaos — entirely from first principles.
See changelog below. The full derivations are provided in the attached paper. Every result is reproducible from the stated inputs. This paper derives the complete Standard Model, quantum mechanics, spacetime, and gravity — 85 quantitative results at sub-percent precision spanning 15 orders of magnitude — from a single postulate, four structural principles, and one measurement. The Standard Model has seventeen free parameters. General relativity has no quantum theory. The measurement problem has been open for a century. The cosmological constant is wrong by 120 orders of magnitude. The question of why there is something rather than nothing has no physical answer in any existing framework. Each of these failures shares a common omission: none ask where time comes from. This paper takes that question seriously. A single physical principle — information cannot be destroyed — is self-sealing: its own violation is incoherent. Its formal expression is Postulate I: each foreclosed quantum branch produces exactly one chronon — a massless spin-1 gauge boson of U(1)_T, the unique gauge group forced by the complex ray structure of the Hilbert space and the single scalar collapse charge. We call it the chronon. Time is not the background in which physics happens; it is generated by physics, irreversibly, at every collapse. These requirements yield a single Lagrangian, ℒ_QT, that extends the Standard Model by one massless spin-1 field and one coupling constant. From this — combined with one measurement, Newton’s gravitational constant G — we derive: all of quantum mechanics via the Piron–Soler–Gleason chain (not assumed); the complete Standard Model with all dimensionless parameters determined; the complete resolution of the measurement problem, including the environmental decoherence cascade; and 85 quantitative physical results spanning fifteen orders of magnitude in energy. Three spatial dimensions follow from the channel-matching principle (D = N_c) and the Weinberg angle consistency condition (N_c = 3). The Big Bang was not initiated — it was mandatory. The numerical precision is sharp. The worst result where the theoretical prediction exceeds experimental precision is 0.5%. For the majority of results, the framework’s prediction is already more precise than the measurement. The proton-to-electron mass ratio m_p/m_e = 2N_cπ⁵(1 + α²/√(N_c²−1)) agrees to sub-ppb precision. The proton charge radius matches muonic hydrogen to five significant figures. The Higgs boson mass to 0.002% via the full cascade derivation (0.25% from the explicit formula). The W boson mass to 0.001%. The fine structure constant to 0.026% (1/α = 137 exactly at tree level). The cosmological constant — wrong by 120 orders of magnitude in standard QFT — is derived to 0.03%. The Hubble tension, a 5σ discrepancy unresolved in standard cosmology, follows from the same structure: H₀_local = H₀ × 13/12 = 73.0 km/s/Mpc (0.05%). All four PMNS neutrino mixing parameters, previously unexplained, are derived to sub-0.5%. Sub-percent agreement spans from neutrino mass splittings at ~9 meV to the CMB temperature at 2.725 K — fifteen orders of magnitude from a single dimensionful input. The framework makes ten falsifiable predictions currently under test: an electron electric dipole moment of exactly zero (ACME III is live); a spin-1 gravitational wave breathing mode at ~9% of the + polarisation amplitude (testable with LIGO O4/O5 data); no dark matter particle in any direct-detection experiment; no graviton — gravity is geometric drift in a proper-time gradient sourced by the energy-momentum tensor, not exchange of a spin-2 particle; there is nothing to detect. A confirmed non-zero electron EDM or a detected graviton falsifies the framework immediately. The logical order, from bottom to top: information cannot be destroyed → P-I (one chronon per foreclosed branch) → proposition lattice with axioms P0–P4 → Piron–Soler–Gleason chain → complex Hilbert space → ray phase redundancy → single scalar collapse charge → U(1)_T gauge field with Maxwell dynamics → channel-matching principle gives D = N_c → Weinberg angle selects N_c = 3 → D = 3 → adding G through the Planck cascade gives λ_conf = 0.40092 fm → the complete Standard Model follows. Spacetime, quantum mechanics, and the Standard Model are not independent inputs — they follow as consequences of P-I, the structural principles, and one observational consistency condition. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ v86 Changelog (April 7–8 2026) — All numerical results unchanged from v85. No formulas modified. Foundational structure and derivation justifications rebuilt following adversarial review by two independent AI systems (Claude, GPT-4o). Foundational hardening: §2.2: Formal axiom framework P0–P4 added. Piron lattice conditions now follow as a theorem given five named structural axioms, not as informal physical arguments. P-I motivates four directly; P0 (admissibility closure) is a structural axiom on the proposition space. §2.5: ℝ exclusion replaced. Old iε propagator argument replaced with operational compositionality / local tomography argument requiring no field-theoretic machinery. §3.1: Gauge derivation rebuilt from complex ray structure forward. U(1)_T now derived from phase redundancy + single scalar collapse charge + rank-1 compact Lie group + label-free emission. Removes prior dependence on Noether's theorem invocation and energy minimization principle. §8.1.1: Channel-matching theorem added. D = N_c derived from information-balance between spatial export channels and internal confinement channels via mismatch functional. Replaces prior mutual-reinforcement argument. §1.5.1: Epistemic taxonomy added classifying all 85 results into three tiers: theorem-level (Piron, Soler, Gleason), physical-argument (gauge structure, mass formulas), and observational-consistency (N_c = 3 from Weinberg angle, cascade from G). §12: New section — Structural Analysis. Result classification (5 epistemic tiers, ~12 independent core results, compression ratio 85:19), axiom necessity (what breaks without each of P0–P4 and D1–D4), and ablation tests (N_c = 2, N_c = 4, drop P4, change coupling exponent, allow D ≠ N_c — every perturbation destroys the majority of results). Framework premise expanded from "one postulate" to "one postulate, four structural principles, and one measurement." Front matter aligned with body throughout. One derivation story, no internal contradictions. Derivation upgrades: Proton-to-electron mass ratio (§9.3): Replaced "2 spin states × N_c colours" with rigorous hyperspherical decomposition. S³ forced by massless emission in (3+1)D; S⁵ forced by K=0 ground state of 3-quark system in 6D relative coordinates. Neutral pion mass (§9.9.1): Factor 5 now derived as 2N_c − 1. Denominator 2π identified as one-loop coefficient of U(1)_T vector gauge coupling. Neutron-proton mass difference (§9.3.2): Replaced "circular loop + straight line" with flux tube arm derivation. π from SU(2) isospin rotation; +1 from chromoelectric flux tube arm to Y-junction. CP phase δ (§9.8.2): Replaced "axial-to-spherical flux ratio" with V−A vertex structure. The ratio 4/π is universal across all generation spaces because any unitary rotation lies on a great circle of S². W boson mass corrections (§9.5.1): Both NLO terms fully derived. Direct vertex α_s/(8π): C_F cancelled by non-relativistic reduction. Exchange α_s/(12π²): two vertices × Dirac-to-colour projection ratio. Charm mass (§9.13.4): Factor 4/π identified as axial-to-vector coupling ratio through V−A weak vertex. Systematic correction — QCD dressing factor: The coefficient 1/(2π) appearing in ~10 results was previously attributed to "hemisphere projection geometry." Replaced throughout: mass in the chronon framework is a U(1)_T vector gauge coupling, not a scalar Yukawa coupling. The factor 1/2 confirmed by two independent routes: (i) Dirac algebra (γ^α γ^μ γ_α = −2γ^μ vs scalar = 4); (ii) C_F cancellation by non-relativistic reduction. Label correction: CKM geometric factor (§9.8.1): "four-dimensional solid angle" corrected to "three-dimensional solid angle S² = 4π." Numbers unchanged. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ v85 Changelog (April 6 2026) — Electroweak corrections, |V_cb| prediction, consistency audit Four physics improvements and a comprehensive numerical audit, all from first principles with zero free parameters. Top quark mass (0.41% → 0.06%): The electroweak self-energy correction factor changed from (N_c+1) to (N_c−1). The factor (N_c−1) = 2 counts the charged weak boson states (W⁺, W⁻) mediating the t→b→t self-energy loop — the SU(2)_L charge-raising/lowering generators. m_t = 172,803 MeV vs observed 172,700 MeV. CKM θ₂₃ / |V_cb| prediction (1.3% → 0.3%): The framework predicts |V_cb| = 42.1 × 10⁻³, essentially identical to the PDG inclusive determination (42.2 ± 0.5) × 10⁻³ and inconsistent with the exclusive determination (39.8 ± 0.6) × 10⁻³. The inclusive/exclusive |V_cb| tension is one of the open questions in flavour physics; the framework picks a side. Falsifiable prediction. Baryon asymmetry η (0.5% → <0.1%): The sphaleron efficiency κ correction changed from α_s/(2π²) to α/(2π). The sphaleron is an SU(2)_L electroweak process; its one-loop vertex correction uses the QED coupling α/(2π), not the QCD coupling. Neutrino mass splitting Δm²₂₃ (0.3% → 0.08%): QED vacuum polarization correction −α/(2π) added to G₃ alongside the existing QCD correction +α_s/π. Sign pattern (QCD adds, QED subtracts) matches the W boson mass derivation. Numerical audit (22 corrections): Full line-by-line verification of every formula, table entry, agreement claim, and cross-reference. Corrections include: D/H value (2.62→2.58 × 10⁻⁵, 1.3σ→1.8σ — stale from pre-κ η); He-4 agreement (0.5σ→0.7σ); z_
The author develops the experimental layer of the framework introduced in the foundational Preprint I. Seven families of falsifiable predictions (F1–F7) are stated and matched to ten falsification criteria (F-T1–F-T10). The predictions cover: τ-window scaling laws under monitored feedback and non-Markovian memory; a 3-qubit ontological feedforward discriminator constructed to separate synchronisation-based from entanglement-based metric emergence; a directional-asymmetry test Δ(τ) with null control; a 4-qubit triangle-inequality test on the metric-compatibility regime; an asymptotic large-deviation consistency channel as cross-cutting envelope; a coherence-affected entropy-production consistency target; and a sync-rate scaling under Dicke collective dissipation. A worked-case reanalysis of Micadei et al. (2019) under the non-Markovian channel of P1 demonstrates non-vacuity of the framework on existing experimental data within a factor ≈ 2.5 on a nine-decade timescale range. The operational definition of the memory timescale τₘₑₘ was fixed prior to numerical evaluation as a matter of pre-registration discipline, with an analytic zero-crossing alternative computed for transparency and explicitly rejected under the conservative bound. A structured Nakajima–Zwanzig–TCL2 sketch indicating the sign and structure of the next-to-leading-order correction for the Micadei interaction Hamiltonian is provided in Appendix E-II, identifying this residual as a target for next-to-leading-order refinement in the smallness parameter (Φ_NM − 1).
This document formulates a pre-registered falsification programme for entanglement and wavefunction-collapse phenomenology in open quantum systems. The framework adopts a register-oriented convention: an entangled AB preparation is represented as a single non-factorisable boundary-informational unit, while A and B denote locally addressable access components used in the operational workspace for control, marginalisation, tomography, and state-level entanglement readout. Measurement is described as apparatus-channel activation of an addressed logical sector. This convention fixes the interpretation of the symbols, but the tests are stated entirely in terms of operational diagnostics. The core programme compares reconstructed open-system descriptions through irreversible entropy production, entropy flux, Landauer-deficit variables, dissipator-level synchronisation, non-Markovian memory response, entanglement-sudden-death threshold timing, and Sagawa–Ueda feedback-information saturation. Five pre-registered predictions are stated. P-EC1 tests the collective-versus-local Landauer-deficit ordering in a bright-sector Dicke benchmark. P-EC2 tests the finite-rate approach of an apparatus-channel deficit toward the readout-completed asymptote under continuous diffusive monitoring, formulated on a stationary-window ensemble estimator. P-EC3 tests the spectral dependence of the non-Markovian Landauer-deficit excess. P-EC4 compares the first concurrence zero-crossing (entanglement-sudden-death threshold) with thermodynamic relaxation timing. P-EC5 tests Sagawa–Ueda bound-saturation and saturation-curve behaviour under feedback information, including an operational proxy mapping for the Yada et al. iterative-feedback anchor. Each prediction is assigned a status in a decision tree with positive controls, quantitative windows, consistency bands, platform anchors, and explicit fail conditions. The programme distinguishes worked-case consistency checks from independent-platform primary falsification tests, and separates core falsification claims from near-future or conditional routes. A boundary-clock extension is also recorded as a non-conservative layer with its own handles; its near-dark chart-inversion observable, tracked by the bounded marker η_chart(t) and the integrated observable 𝐼ₖ₅, is reported as a conditional outlook, not as a core prediction. The document therefore does not claim to derive the Born rule, prove an ontology of collapse, or modify standard quantum mechanics. It asks whether a specific boundary-persistence architecture survives a set of pre-registered operational tests.
The Problem of Time — the apparent incompatibility between quantum mechanics' time parameter t and general relativity's proper time τ — has been treated as a fundamental obstacle to quantum gravity. I argue that this is a level-confusion: both theories define time within their own entity-theoretic frameworks, generating an apparent opposition that disappears when time is relocated to a meta-structural layer. Drawing on the meta-level temporal structure T_SDT := (V_G, ≺) (Zeng 2026), the paper formalizes QM and GR time as two projections of a single Universal Time Formula, parameterized by entity-theoretic tokens. Four token specializations recover the corresponding time concepts. A Bridge Theorem establishes mutual compatibility of all token projections. A bidirectional QM-GR channel is constructed (forward: GR geometry → QM phase; reverse: discrete chain-pair → Lorentzian spacetime), composing into a self-consistent closed loop. Three further results move beyond dissolution toward unification. First, a Madelung-bridge construction derives the Schrödinger equation — Hilbert space, unitarity, Hamiltonian, quantum potential, Born rule — from the determination-graph axioms together with the continuum embedding (CL1), with no independent QM input; the derivation extends to Klein-Gordon. Second, a Planck-scale token μ = t_P / |A_{v'}| is constructed on the discrete 𝒢_D, where |A_{v'}| is the admissibility cardinality; under CL1, this single step-measure recovers QM (|A| ≫ 1) and GR (|A| = 1) as its two continuum limits, with Einstein's equation proved in the classical regime (|A| = 1) via a two-stage argument (Benincasa-Dowker action convergence + standard scalar-tensor variation). The exact quantum-gravitational correction is derived as a scalar-tensor equation with φ = 1/|A|. Third, the discrete determination graph without continuum embedding constitutes a self-contained Planck-scale quantum gravity theory: it has a well-defined path integral, a finite-dimensional S-matrix (unitary in the κ = 0 sector, isometric in the κ > 0 sector; no UV divergences), preserves information across black hole horizons, resolves singularities, derives the Past Hypothesis, and provides structural origins for gauge symmetry, Hawking radiation, spectral dimensionality, and the spin-statistics connection. The Problem of Time is not merely dissolved — it is replaced by a constructive framework in which QM and GR are unified as two limits of a single discrete structure.
