Abstract

We construct three new families of asymmetric quantum MDS codes from nested Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed–Solomon and extended generalized Reed–Solomon codes over Fq2. The construction is developed in three settings: affine partitions of Fq2, projective norm partitions of Fq2*, and extended affine configurations obtained by adjoining the point at infinity. In each case, the Hermitian orthogonality conditions are reduced to explicit linear systems over Fq, whose solvability follows from structured moment identities and Vandermonde-type arguments. This yields nested classical MDS codes satisfying the Hermitian dual-containment condition required in the Hermitian construction of asymmetric quantum codes. As a consequence, we obtain three explicit families of asymmetric quantum MDS codes with fully determined lengths, dimensions, and asymmetric distances dz and dx. Our results show that affine and projective partition techniques provide a natural and effective framework for constructing optimal asymmetric quantum codes with flexible parameters.

Some new quantum MDS codes derived from generalized Reed-Solomon codes

Xueying Shi, Qin Yue

Quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes are very important in coding theory. In this paper, we construct three classes of new quantum MDS codes with large minimum distance by classical Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed-Solomon codes. Furthermore, these quantum MDS codes have more flexible lengths and larger minimum distance than those of some known quantum MDS codes.

Two new classes of quantum MDS codes from generalized Reed-Solomon codes

Weiwei Wang, Jiantao Li

In this paper, we mainly use classical Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed-Solomon codes to construct two new classes of quantum MDS codes. Most of our quantum MDS codes have minimum distance larger than q/2+1. Compared with previously known constructions, these quantum MDS codes in our constructions have large minimum distance and their parameters are not covered by the previous codes.

New Quantum MDS codes from Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed-Solomon codes

Ruhao Wan, Shixin Zhu

Quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS for short) codes are an important class of quantum codes. In this paper, by using Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed-Solomon (GRS for short) codes, we construct five new classes of $q$-ary quantum MDS codes with minimum distance larger than $q/2+1$. Furthermore, the parameters of our quantum MDS code cannot be obtained from the previous constructions.

Some quantum MDS codes from GRS codes

Guohui Wang, Chunming Tang

The construction of quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes has become one of the major goals in quantum coding theory. In this paper, we construct several classes of Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed–Solomon codes. Based on these classical MDS codes, we obtain several new classes of quantum MDS codes with large minimum distance. It turns out that these constructed quantum MDS codes have fewer constraints on the selection of code length, and in some cases, have larger minimum distance than previous literature. Notably, some of the distance parameters of our codes are greater than (q/2)+1.

Quantum MDS codes from complements of unions of finite-field subsets

Naihong Hu, Hong Ji

Let $q$ be an odd prime power. We use complements of unions of subsets of $\mathbb F_{q^2}$ as locator sets and establish a sufficient condition under which a generalized Reed--Solomon (GRS) code is Hermitian self-orthogonal. Using cosets of multiplicative subgroups and sets with prescribed trace or norm values, we construct five families of Hermitian self-orthogonal GRS codes over $\mathbb F_{q^2}$. The Hermitian construction then yields five corresponding families of $q$-ary quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes. Under suitable parameter conditions, these quantum codes have minimum distances greater than $q/2+1$. By comparing codes of the same length, we give conditions under which our codes have strictly larger minimum distances than those obtainable from several previously known constructions based on trace maps, linear transformations, and cosets of multiplicative subgroups, either directly or via the propagation rule. We further show that such improvements occur for infinitely many values of $q$.

A Construction of New Quantum MDS Codes

Lingfei Jin, Chaoping Xing

It has been a great challenge to construct new quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS) codes. In particular, it is very hard to construct the quantum MDS codes with relatively large minimum distance. So far, except for some sparse lengths, all known q-ary quantum MDS codes have minimum distance ≤q/2 + 1. In this paper, we provide a construction of the quantum MDS codes with minimum distance >q/2 + 1. In particular, we show the existence of the q-ary quantum MDS codes with length n = q2+ 1 and minimum distance d for any d q + 1 (this result extends those given in the works of Guardia (2011), Jin et al. (2010), and Kai an Zhu (2012)); and with length (q2+ 2)/3 and minimum distance d for any d (2q+2)/3 if 3|(q + 1). Our method is through Hermitian selforthogonal codes. The main idea of constructing the Hermitian self-orthogonal codes is based on the solvability in Fqof a system of homogenous equations over Fq2.

Quantum maximum-distance-separable (MDS for short) codes are an important class of quantum codes. In this paper, by using Hermitian self-orthogonal generalized Reed-Solomon (GRS for short) codes, we construct five new classes of qqq-ary quantum MDS codes with minimum distance larger than q/2+1q/2+1q/2+1. Furthermore, the parameters of our quantum MDS code cannot be obtained from the previous constructions.
