Generalized Langevin Dynamics of a System with the Radiation Interaction

Abstract

A new kinetic master equation for the generalized Langevin dynamics of a mechanical system undergoing radiative interaction with a broadband electromagnetic field in a squeezed state has been derived from a quantum stochastic differential equation constructed using the algebra of generators of two-quantum stochastic processes. The latter express the Hamiltonian of the radiative interaction in terms of the Ito increments of these processes. The motion of a harmonic oscillator and a free particle has been analyzed using the equation for the Wigner quasiprobability, which is next in the harmonic approximation of the original equation for an open system. Features of the system dynamics in a broadband squeezed field and a broadband field in a classical state have been revealed.

Generalized Langevin Dynamics in a Broadband Quantized Field

Andrew I. Trubilko

Abstract A generalized Langevin dynamics of a two-level system (atom, qubit) in a broadband quantized electromagnetic field is considered. The analysis is carried out using a kinetic equation of an open system, obtained based on a quantum stochastic differential equation. The latter is associated with the terms of the effective Hamiltonian of the problem up to the second order in the constant of interaction of the atom with the field.

Quantum theory of open systems based on stochastic differential equations of generalized Langevin (non-Wiener) type

Ashat M. Basharov

It is shown that the effective Hamiltonian representation, as it is formulated in author’s papers, serves as a basis for distinguishing, in a broadband environment of an open quantum system, independent noise sources that determine, in terms of the stationary quantum Wiener and Poisson processes in the Markov approximation, the effective Hamiltonian and the equation for the evolution operator of the open system and its environment. General stochastic differential equations of generalized Langevin (non-Wiener) type for the evolution operator and the kinetic equation for the density matrix of an open system are obtained, which allow one to analyze the dynamics of a wide class of localized open systems in the Markov approximation. The main distinctive features of the dynamics of open quantum systems described in this way are the stabilization of excited states with respect to collective processes and an additional frequency shift of the spectrum of the open system. As an illustration of the general approach developed, the photon dynamics in a single-mode cavity without losses on the mirrors is considered, which contains identical intracavity atoms coupled to the external vacuum electromagnetic field. For some atomic densities, the photons of the cavity mode are “locked” inside the cavity, thus exhibiting a new phenomenon of radiation trapping and non-Wiener dynamics.

Effects of the Stark Interaction in the Dynamics of an Atomic System in a Broadband Squeezed Electromagnetic Field

Andrew I. Trubilko, Ashat M. Basharov

The effects of the Stark interaction in the collective radiation of an ensemble of atoms in the field of a broadband electromagnetic field in a squeezed quantum state have been considered. It has been shown that the inclusion of the conditions for the formation of the squeezed field allows one to describe the dynamics of atoms in terms of random quantum creating, annihilating, and counting processes. The latter process is the Stark interaction of atoms and the field and manifests itself in the form of a trigger superradiance pulse generated by an ensemble of identical atoms excited by a quantized resonant squeezed electromagnetic field. The description is based on the kinetic equation derived for an open localized quantum system in a broadband squeezed quantized electromagnetic field. The resulting equation differs from the known ones, but agrees with them in particular and limiting cases.

Fokker-Planck equation of the reduced Wigner function associated to an Ohmic quantum Langevin dynamics

Pedro J. Colmenares

This article has to do with the derivation and solution of the Fokker-Planck equation associated to the momentum-integrated Wigner function of a particle subjected to a harmonic external field in contact with an ohmic thermal bath of quantum harmonic oscillators. The strategy employed is a simplified version of the phenomenological approach of Schramm, Jung, and Grabert of interpreting the operators as c numbers to derive the quantum master equation arising from a twofold transformation of the Wigner function of the entire phase space. The statistical properties of the random noise comes from the integral functional theory of Grabert, Schramm, and Ingold. By means of a single Wigner transformation, a simpler equation than that mentioned before is found. The Wigner function reproduces the known results of the classical limit. This allowed us to rewrite the underdamped classical Langevin equation as a first-order stochastic differential equation with time-dependent drift and diffusion terms.

Models of the Dynamics of Spatially Separated Broadband Electromagnetic Fields Interacting with Resonant Atoms

Ashat M. Basharov

The Markov model of spontaneous emission of an atom localized in a spatial region with a broadband electromagnetic field with zero photon density is considered in the conditions of coupling of the electromagnetic field with the broadband field of a neighboring space. The evolution operator of the system and the kinetic equation for the atom are obtained. It is shown that the field coupling constant affects the rate of spontaneous emission of the atom, but is not manifested in the atomic frequency shift. The analytic expression for the radiative decay constant for the atom is found to be analogous in a certain sense to the expression for the decay constant for a singly excited localized ensemble of identical atoms in the conditions when the effect of stabilization of its excited state by the Stark interaction with the vacuum broadband electromagnetic field is manifested. The model is formulated based on quantum stochastic differential equations of the non- Wiener type and the generalized algebra of the Ito differential of quantum random processes.

Stochastic Differential Equations in the Theory of Open Quantum Systems

A. M. Basharov

Abstract Quantum stochastic differential equations are shown to naturally arise because of the mathematical background of the correctness of the Schrödinger equation, which describes the interaction of an open quantum system with broadband quantized fields in the Markov approximation. The main classical and quantum stochastic processes appear in the notation in the Markov approximation of the operator of the electric broadband quantized field strength and the effective Hamiltonian of the interaction of a quantum system with it obtained by the methods of algebraic resonance perturbation theory. All basic stochastic quantum processes, including the counting and two-quantum Lévy processes, are constructed based on quantum white noise, which differs significantly from the classical case. At the same time, the apparatus of stochastic differential equations demonstrates consistency and parallelism.
