A central question in the quantum-gravitational description of our universe is how the arrow of time emerges from a fundamentally timeless theory. Reference [1] proposed that an intrinsic, self-referential mechanism—encoded in a nonlocal operator acting on a holographic tensor network—breaks the global Wheeler-DeWitt constraint and drives the monotonic growth of entanglement entropy, thereby giving rise to an internal time. The present work provides the first exactly solvable and numerically testable microscopic realization of this mechanism within the open Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model. By interpreting Lindblad jump operators as directed information extractions from network degrees of freedom, we prove, via large- Schwinger-Keldysh field theory and finite- exact diagonalization (up to ), that the entanglement entropy of the observed subsystem increases monotonically and irreversibly, that the level-spacing distribution transitions from Poisson to Wigner-Dyson universality, and that the dissipative form factor displays a sharp, first-order dynamical phase transition. A control experiment employing structureless, nonlocal Lindblad jumps fails to produce these signatures simultaneously, confirming that they are specific consequences of the self-referential mapping rather than generic features of open quantum systems. We further propose a holographic dictionary in which the dissipative coupling is dual to the boundary cosmological constant in Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity, offering a concrete, testable bridge between the self-referential operation and the geometry of emergent spacetime. These findings establish a compact, computable, and—crucially—experimentally accessible microscopic foundation for the hypothesis that time is born from quantum information processing, and they provide a theoretical blueprint for observing the emergence of an arrow of time on near-term quantum simulators.

We present a numerical simulation demonstrating that a self-referential quantum operation induces a directed, statistically robust monotonic growth of entanglement entropy in an observed subsystem. Drawing on the theoretical proposal that the arrow of time originates from directed information extraction within a quantum system , we design a minimal 4-qubit circuit initialized in the pure product state , so that subsystem starts with zero entanglement entropy. A self-referential layer, realized by controlled-NOT gates from subsystem to environment followed by randomization of , periodically extracts information from . Using IBM Qiskit's local simulator, we measure the entanglement entropy as a function of circuit depth. Under self-referential dynamics, exhibits a strongly significant monotonic trend (Spearman ), while two control circuits—one with symmetric - coupling () and one with reversed directional coupling ()—show significantly weaker or absent monotonicity. We discuss the limitations of interpreting this simulation as a full realization of thermodynamic irreversibility, and clarify that the observed monotonic entropy increase is a necessary but not sufficient condition for a genuine arrow of time. This work provides a minimal, accessible testbed for exploring the information-theoretic origins of temporal irreversibility .
This is the thrid paper of the series of three: Spacetime and Gravity as Emergent Quantum Entanglement — A Proof of Concept The paper closes the three principal open questions of the series by identifying the physical boundary Hamiltonian, fixing all free thermodynamic parameters, and establishing that the boundary theory is maximally chaotic. Four results are proved: Theorem A identifies the boundary Hamiltonian as the Sachdev–Ye–Kitaev model: an explicit Collins–Śniady Weingarten calculation applied to the binary tree encoder's unitary 2-design property shows that the tree ensemble average and the SYK disorder average produce identical Gaussian coupling variance at leading order in 1/χ, yielding the same Schwinger–Dyson equations and the same conformal Green function G(τ) = −b·J⁻¹/²·sgn(τ)/|τ|¹/², establishing H_R = H_SYK as an equality of disorder-averaged effective field theories. Theorem B derives the previously free Schwarzian coefficient and topological dilaton — φ_r = (πb²N/16J)·log(J/Δ) and φ_0 = N/(2log₂χ) — making the near-extremal black hole entropy a parameter-free prediction. Theorem C proves that the quantum Lyapunov exponent saturates the Maldacena–Shenker–Stanford chaos bound at λ_L = 2πT, with scrambling time t* ~ β log N, placing the boundary theory in the fast-scrambling and GUE random-matrix universality class. Theorem D confirms the boundary stress-tensor two-point function ⟨T(x)T(0)⟩ = 6log₂χ/(2x²) as an unconditional theorem, consistent with an effective central charge c_eff = 6log₂χ. A corollary shows that the Bisognano–Wichmann assumption of Paper II is unnecessary once the explicit boundary Hamiltonian is in hand. Together with Papers I and II, this paper completes the derivation of the full holographic dictionary for the binary tree model — from a discrete quantum network to emergent geometry, physical time, gravitational field equations, and quantum chaos — entirely from first principles.
AbstractFundamental formulations of quantum cosmology, most notably the Wheeler–DeWitt equation (\hat{H}\vert{}\Psi\rangle = 0), describe the Universe as a closed, static, and unitary system. Within the block-universe interpretation of spacetime, the underlying laws of quantum mechanics are often taken to be time-reversal invariant at the fundamental level. This paper proposes a relational framework wherein temporal asymmetry and the apparent irreversibility of physical events are not intrinsic features of the global wave function, but emergent phenomena resulting from quantum entanglement between an internal observer (or record-bearing subsystem) and the rest of the universe.Utilizing the Page–Wootters relational time mechanism alongside quantum decoherence theory and Landauer's principle, we demonstrate that while the global state remains static and time-symmetric under these formalisms, any internal subsystem capable of forming stable memory states naturally experiences a unidirectional arrow of time. Irreversibility is here interpreted as emerging from observer-system correlation, decoherence, and entropy production during record formation rather than a violation of fundamental unitary symmetry.Key Focus Areas & Subject CoverageQuantum Cosmology & Quantum Gravity: Wheeler–DeWitt Equation, ADM Formalism, Problem of TimeRelational Quantum Dynamics: Page–Wootters Mechanism, Conditional State FormalismThermodynamics & Information Theory: Quantum Decoherence, Landauer's Principle, Arrow of Time, Information DispersalFoundations of Physics: Block Universe, Eternalism, Emergent Temporal AsymmetryManuscript StatusStatus: Revised PreprintField: Theoretical Physics / Quantum Foundations & Cosmology
This paper presents the SYK TENSOR Quantum Information Network (QIN) as the firstcomplete, discrete, and empirically validated pre geometric analysis of spacetime emergencein the history of physics a true Theory of Everything. For the first time, spacetime geometryis rigorously derived from a finite capacity substrate of maximally chaotic Majorana qubitsgoverned by random all to all SYK interactions, stabilized by holographic tensor networkquantum error correcting codes, and softly regulated with Gaussian form factors to achievebounded UV entanglement variance (stability coefficient γ = 1.0–1.2). Large scale numericalexperiments (N = 8–64 qubits, code distances d = 3–15, Hilbert dimension up to 232) andexact toy models validate five sharp, falsifiable predictions with unprecedented precision: (1)maximal chaos scrambling (λL = 0.85±0.12), (2) perfect holographic bulk reconstruction viathe Ryu-Takayanagi formula (ρ = 1.00±0.12, p = 7.67×10−144), with exponential hyperbolicvolume growth confirming negative curvature (κ = 1.05 ± 0.08), (3) resolution of the blackhole information paradox through traversable wormhole teleportation (fidelity advantage8.2× classical baseline, p ≪ 10−12), (4) emergent gravity scaling (r = −0.94 between λL andGeff = 1/λL), and(5)Standard Model force unification via flavored holographic gauging withexact charge conservation. Mathematical consistency is established through exact OTOCderivation in Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity duality, bounded regulated entanglement entropyvariance (γ2 ≈ 2|b|), and rigorous pre geometric origin of AdS/CFT holography. Thisframework resolves UV divergences, the information paradox, emergent geometry, and forceunification without continuum assumptions, extra dimensions, or supersymmetry, providing, for the first time in history, a fully discrete, finite, and computationally accessible origin ofspacetime itself. All results are reproducible via provided Google Colab notebooks, withdirect pathways for near term quantum hardware verification (N ¿ 100 logical qubits).
This enhanced Version II presents the SYK TENSOR Quantum Information Network(QIN) as a complete, finite, and empirically validated theory of quantum gravity. Realityemerges from a discrete, finite capacity substrate of maximally chaotic Majorana qubitsgoverned by random all to all SYK interactions, stabilized by holographic tensor networkerror correction, and regulated softly with Gaussian form factors to achieve bounded UVentanglement variance. Large scale numerical experiments (N = 8–64 qubits, Hilbert dimension up to 232) confirm four sharp, falsifiable predictions with refined precision: (1)maximal chaos scrambling quantified by Lyapunov exponent λL = 0.85 ± 0.12, (2) holographic bulk reconstruction with Ryu-Takayanagi correlation ρ = 0.68±0.12, (3) resolutionof the black hole information paradox via traversable wormhole teleportation achieving fidelity F = 0.4021±0.168 (6.43× classical advantage, paired t-test p = 4.4×10−12), and (4)emergent gravity scaling with strong anticorrelation r = −0.94 between chaos rate and effective gravitational coupling. An exact OTOC derivation through the Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT)gravity duality in nearly AdS2, bounded variance in regulated entanglement entropy withstability coefficient γ = 1, and rigorous derivation of the Einstein field equations from scrambling backreaction establish mathematical consistency. The framework naturally eliminatesUVdivergences, derives spacetime geometry and gravitational dynamics from pre-geometricquantum information flow, and provides direct pathways for Planck scale simulation onnear term quantum hardware (N > 100 logical qubits). Comparisons with loop quantumgravity and string theory highlight the QIN’s unique advantages in solvability, maximalchaos, and empirical accessibility. This work represents a groundbreaking unification ofquantum mechanics and gravity without continuum assumptions, extra dimensions, or adhoc fields.
