The increasing reliance on cloud storage across sectors has made the protection of sensitive data a critical concern especially as advances in quantum computing threaten to break traditional public-key cryptographic systems. This growing vulnerability raises urgent questions about how to secure digital assets in a post-quantum future. To address this challenge, this study aims to design, implement, and evaluate a hybrid encryption framework that combines symmetric encryption for data confidentiality with quantum-resistant public-key algorithms for key management and digital signatures. The objective was to develop a secure and practical solution that can be readily adopted using open-source tools. The system was built in a Linux-based virtual environment using an S3-compatible object storage platform, integrated with quantum-safe cryptographic libraries, and automated through scripting. Performance testing was conducted using files ranging from 100 MB to 1 GB, with metrics such as encryption and decryption time, CPU usage, upload/download latency, and internet throughput analyzed. The results showed that while quantum-safe operations added some overhead, even large files could be securely processed in under two minutes with stable system performance and no data corruption. These findings confirm that hybrid encryption models can be deployed today without specialized hardware, offering a forward-compatible and robust approach to cloud security. This work contributes a tested and reproducible framework for early adoption of quantum-safe cryptography in real-world cloud environments.
With the rapid growth of multimedia communication over the internet, ensuring the security and confidentiality of digital images and videos has become a critical challenge.Traditional encryption techniques such as AES, DES, and RSA are primarily designed for textual data and may not always be efficient for large multimedia files due to high computational complexity and data redundancy. To address this issue, this paper presents a quantum-inspired multimedia encryption system based on the Generalized Quantum Image Representation (GQIR) and Qiskit-based key generation. The proposed system converts digital images into quantum image representation using GQIR, where pixel positions and colour values are encoded using quantum bits.A quantum-inspired keystream is generated using Qiskit quantum circuits, which is then applied through an XOR-based encryption mechanism to secure images and video frames.Security evaluation is performed using Shannon entropy, histogram distribution, and pixel correlation coefficient analysis. The system is deployed as a Flask-based web application, enabling users to upload multimedia files, perform encryption and decryption, and visualize analytical results. The results demonstrate high entropy values (7.8-7.99),near-zero pixel correlation, and uniform histogram distribution in encrypted outputs, confirming strong randomness and resistance to statistical attacks.
The rapid growth of digital communication has increased the need for highly secure email systems capable of protecting sensitive information from evolving cyber threats. Traditional encryption techniques such as RSA and ECC are becoming vulnerable due to advancements in quantum computing, which can potentially break conventional cryptographic algorithms. To address these challenges, this project proposes a Quantum Secure Email Client Application that integrates post-quantum cryptography (PQC) techniques to ensure end-to-end secure communication. The proposed system employs quantum-resistant encryption algorithms such as lattice-based cryptography, hash-based signatures, or code-based encryption to secure email content, attachments, and user authentication processes. The email client ensures that messages are encrypted before transmission and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient, thereby preventing unauthorized access, interception, and data leakage. Additionally, the system incorporates secure key exchange mechanisms resistant to quantum attacks, ensuring safe communication even in the presence of quantum adversaries. The user interface is designed to be simple and user-friendly, allowing seamless sending and receiving of secure emails without requiring deep technical knowledge. The application enhances confidentiality, integrity, and authentication in email communication, making it suitable for defense, banking, healthcare, and government sectors where data security is critical. By integrating quantum-safe cryptographic techniques, the system provides a future-ready solution that safeguards communication against both classical and quantum computing threats.
The rise of cloud computing has transformed data storage and processing but introduced new vulnerabilities, especially with the impending threat of quantum computing. Traditional cryptographic methods, though currently effective, are at risk of being compromised by quantum attacks. This research aims to develop a quantum-resistant security framework for cloud environments, combining lattice-based cryptography with Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols, particularly the E91 protocol, for secure key management. The framework also incorporates quantum authentication protocols to enhance user identity verification, protecting against unauthorized access and tampering. The proposed solution balances robust security with practical implementation, ensuring scalability and efficiency in real-world cloud environments. Performance evaluations indicate an encryption time of approximately 30 milliseconds, outperforming existing methods such as RSA and DES. This research contributes to the development of future-proof cryptographic standards, addressing both current security challenges and emerging quantum computing threats. By leveraging quantum mechanics, the framework strengthens cloud-based data protection, providing a resilient solution against evolving cyber risks. The results hold significant promise for advancing cloud security, laying the groundwork for next-generation encryption techniques that can withstand the threats posed by quantum computing.
In today's digital era, where sensitive data is frequently transmitted over email, ensuring secure communication has become a pressing concern. This paper aims to integrate the principles of quantum cryptography to redefine email security.Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) leverages the laws of quantum mechanics to create cryptographic keys that are virtually unbreakable, offering an unprecedented level of protection against modern cyber threats.Historically, email security evolved alongside the rise of the internet.Initial systems lacked robust protection, relying on basic passwords or unencrypted messages. The introduction of Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) and Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) marked significant advancements, providing encryption for email content. However, traditional encryption techniques depend heavily on the computational complexity of algorithms, making them vulnerable to advances in processing power, particularly with the advent of quantum computing.Traditional email security systems have several limitations. While methods like TLS and end-to-end encryption mitigate some risks, they cannot guarantee long-term security against quantum-level decryption techniques. The motivation for this paper stems from the need to address these vulnerabilities and enhance trust in digital communication systems.Increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, data breaches, and the potential threats posed by quantum computing have inspired the development of a revolutionary solution that combines quantum cryptography with email systems. The goal is to proactively safeguard sensitive communication against evolving threats, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. The proposed system integrates QKD to secure email communications.By generating encryption keys based on quantum states, it ensures that any attempt to intercept the keys is detectable. This system also encrypts email content and attachments with these quantum-generated keys, providing enhanced security against interception and decryption attempts. With features like quantum-encrypted file storage and robust authentication mechanisms, this system sets a new standard for email security.
This research is inspired by the BB84 and Base64 algorithms and presents a fusion of both to introduce a new algorithmic technique for secure data transmission. It combines classical cryptographic principles with concepts from quantum key distribution. The proposed approach integrates Base64 encoding and BB84-inspired key exchange into a web-based cryptographic system. Messages or files from the sender (Alice) are encrypted using a randomly generated symmetric key, derived through HKDF and secured with AES-GCM encryption. The key is shared with the receiver (Bob) via a QR code or text file, functioning as a one-time password. The system also simulates quantum key exchange and basis alignment, serving as an educational tool for quantum-inspired secure communication.
