Binary outcomes are often treated as evidence of intrinsic dual structure: up/down,present/absent, positive/negative, or survival/extinction. This paper develops a constraint-pruninginterpretation in which binary distinctions are not assumed to be fundamental, but arise fromobserver-embedded constraints that partition an allowed state space. We define a measure overallowed states, distinguish structural possibility from realized measure, and separate observationfrom consciousness by treating observation as irreversible physical correlation internal to the sys-tem. The framework is then anchored to RaMu selection-only simulation data in which a tag-ging/distinguishability parameter γ blocks re-merging between tagged same-sign vortex pairs with-out modifying field values. The data show that survival probability remains saturated across themain sweep, while mean final vortex count rises from 138.43 at γ = 0 to 324.91 at γ = 1, a factorof 2.35. Thus the strong claim that distinguishability alone drives survival is not supported in thisselection-only test. The supported claim is subtler and more useful: distinguishability redistributesinternal structure within surviving branches. Axis-induced duality is therefore best understood asconstraint-defined structural differentiation, not necessarily as intrinsic ontological opposition. We propose that particle-like entities are not best treated as fundamental primitives, but as persis-tent, distinguishable branches that emerge when admissible alternatives are irreversibly pruned. Weargue that the transition into particlehood cannot be directly observed at its own instant, because allmeasurement presupposes already-persistent records. Particlehood must therefore be inferred retro-dictively from downstream observables that witness the prior loss of admissible alternatives. Weformalize this inference problem and define a downstream witness framework based on persistence, distinguishability, and recoverable record structure. We then connect this program to a selection-only simulation architecture in which irreversible tagging alters admissible identity histories withoutmodifying local field dynamics. Early first-pass data are included as a control-regime illustration.Across the completed subset examined so far, survival remains saturated across tagging strengths, indicating that the present run occupies a dynamics-dominated persistent regime rather than a near-threshold formation regime. The resulting framework remains falsifiable: if future runs in marginalregimes show systematic gamma-dependent changes in persistence without direct field intervention, that would support the claim that irreversible distinguishability can influence particle-like stabilitydownstream of realization. We present a minimal reformulation of the Law of Observation in which observation isidentified with irreversible constraint formation acting on a dynamical system. This inducesa monotonic contraction of the admissible state space, formalized as irreversible constraintpruning (ICP). We define a concrete pruning operator, introduce a measurable distinguishabilityparameter, and provide a non-circular definition of constraint density. We show thatpersistence requires irreversible distinguishability and cannot be inferred from dynamicsalone. The framework is positioned relative to decoherence and consistent-histories approachesand is illustrated with a lattice field example in which identical dynamics yielddifferent persistence outcomes depending on pruning conditions. ICP thus provides a structuralcondition governing the emergence of classicality and persistent structure.
We present a minimal measurement model in which definite outcomes arise not from collapseor explicit selection, but from path-dependent irreversible constraint pruning. A composite sys-tem of measured object, apparatus, and environment generates correlated branch histories whosedistinguishability evolves dynamically. We define a pruning rate from the decay of branch over-lap and introduce a path-functional quantifying cumulative irreversible exclusion of alternatives.A branch supports a unique persistent record only if its pruning path also produces sufficientenvironmental redundancy, apparatus stability, and temporal persistence. These contributionsdefine a uniqueness-support functional Γi[pi], which identifies the branch whose record becomesuniquely persistent under continued evolution. The model reproduces standard decoherencestructure while adding a minimal criterion based on path-dependent persistence rather thannew dynamics. Recent experiments demonstrating Bell correlations in the motional states of momentum-entangled ultracold helium atoms provide direct empirical access to quantum correla-tions beyond photonic systems. We propose a structural reinterpretation of observa-tion: an observation is an irreversible constraint event that eliminates incompatiblecontinuations from an admissible set of system histories. This process, termed irre-versible constraint pruning (ICP), does not modify standard quantum dynamics butreframes the role of measurement. We introduce a quantitative pruning measure basedon Kullback–Leibler divergence, define an operational distinguishability parameter gov-erning branch reattachment, and propose a pruning density as a measurable markerof the quantum-to-classical transition. The framework yields experimentally testablepredictions, a concrete experimental protocol, and a minimal numerical model linkingpruning to observable distributions. Classical persistence is interpreted as the cumu-lative result of repeated, non-recoverable pruning events. keywords: quantum measurementquantum entanglementBell correlationsmomentum entanglementultracold atomsquantum-to-classical transitiondecoherenceirreversible processesinformation theoryKullback-Leibler divergencequantum foundationsmeasurement problemconstraint pruningirreversible constraint pruningdistinguishabilitybranch recoverability
We propose a geometric and informational framework in which conscious observation is treated as a higher-order realization of the same primitive operation that constitutes physical measurement. The construction begins from the Axiom of Symmetric Duality, in which measurement requires differentiation together with preservation of reference frame and reference scale, while the primitive operation giving rise to measurement is itself inaccessible to complete self-measurement. In this sense, observation possesses both ontological and epistemic realizations. The underlying axiomatic framework defines measure as differentiation, comparison, or assignment of value and treats frame and scale as necessary conditions for measurement [2].The physical geometry is based on rank-two electromagnetic interactions. Each elementary interaction is assumed to occupy an oriented two-dimensional spatial plane, while smooth three-dimensional propagation arises from the convolution of many differently oriented interaction planes [1]. At fixed evolution or scale coordinate τ , an elementary state occupies two spatialcoordinates, while its history is generated through variation along the additional coordinate τ . We conjecture that causal and retained informational states constitute a conformally conjugate pair. Electromagnetic radiation defines the causal orientation, while gravitational or compressive informational structure defines an antiparallel anti-causal orientation. Here “anti-causal” doesnot denote backward temporal propagation. Both orientations are proposed to lie perpendicular to temporal change, with time describing the ordered evolution of the complete causal/anti-causal configuration. A conscious observer is then modeled as a recursive comparison mechanism operating across these conjugate orientations. The first physical interaction produces a retained reference state. A second interaction permits comparison with that retained state and thereby establishesself-oriented observation. This creates a natural binary structure, interaction −→ retention −→ interaction −→ comparison, which is proposed to possess a M¨obius geometry. The existing scale construction satisfies(θ, χ) ∼ (θ + 2π, −χ),with reciprocal scale inversionq ↦ → q−1,and requires a 4π traversal for restoration of the complete oriented state [1]. We therefore conjecture that the first 2π traversal establishes an internal reference, while the second establishes the first valid comparison, giving a minimum 4π initialization cycle for self-aware observation. Under the normalization in which the Möbius half-width equals its centerline radius R, the intrinsic reference area isA = 4πR2,1equal numerically to the surface area of a sphere of radius R, although the two surfaces are not topologically equivalent. This suggests a possible correspondence between nested two-dimensionalcausal interaction surfaces and the Möbius double-cover structure of observation. We further distinguish the physical mass-energy carrier from the relational complexity encoded in its organization. Consciousness is proposed not as an independently conserved energy quantitybut as a localized organization of complexity carried by physical degrees of freedom. The central conservation conjecture of the present work is that such complexity may be locally concentrated, transformed, or delocalized while remaining globally conserved across the complete informational system. Biological death is therefore initially treated not as proof of persistence of personal identity, but as the loss of a particular local biological realization of an informational-comparison process. Whether observer-specific identity survives requires a stronger result: the identification of an invariant structural encoding that remains preserved under delocalization, conformal rescaling, or subsequent re-instantiation. The present work develops the mathematical prerequisites for distinguishing conservation of complexity from conservation of identity and outlines observational criteria by which these hypotheses may eventually be tested.
This work presents a constraint-based meta-framework for understanding persistent foundational dualities across physics, biology, and consciousness studies. Rather than proposing new physical mechanisms or historical cosmologies, it formalizes a post-reductionist perspective in which no globally sufficient singular description of reality is admissible. The framework replaces substance with persistence as the primary ontological primitive and treats irreducible dualities (e.g., wave–particle, observer–observed, gene–environment) as structural necessities rather than epistemic gaps. Scientific progress is reframed as translation between complementary descriptions instead of unification by collapse. Consciousness is formally introduced as a coherence-seeking interface process that operates across irreducible dualities, explaining its persistent tension with fragmentation and meaning without invoking metaphysical claims, panpsychism, or interventionist implications. From the axioms follow explicit structural limits, including the impossibility of a final theory, a total observer, permanent non-dual consciousness, or total control of complex systems. The framework is compatible with existing physical and biological theories and is intended as a stabilizing methodological guide for post-reductionist science. Ethical containment is built in by design: no inference from this work licenses the manipulation, collapse, or redesign of foundational dualities.
