Quantum-Enhanced Clustering Algorithms for Big Data

Jincheng Zhang

This paper investigates the application of quantum algorithms to enhance clustering performance on big data. Traditional clustering algorithms often struggle with the computational complexity associated with large datasets and intricate data distributions. We propose and analyze the implementation of quantum k-means and quantum hierarchical clustering algorithms, leveraging quantum superposition and entanglement to potentially achieve significant speedups. The theoretical framework outlines the core concepts and mathematical formulations of these algorithms. We explore the potential for quantum algorithms to address the limitations of classical approaches, particularly in scenarios involving high-dimensional data and complex clusters. The research focuses on the algorithmic design, examining the key steps involved in transforming classical clustering problems into quantum computations. This work contributes to the emerging field of quantum data mining and provides a foundational understanding of how quantum computing can revolutionize data analysis tasks. The primary focus is on the theoretical aspects of quantum clustering and does not include experimental validation.

Modeling and Optimization of Industrial Engineering Complex System Based on Quantum Computing and Big Data Analysis

Shuheng Gu, Yijiang Liu, Zihan Gu +3 more

Quantum computing, with its unique parallel computing ability and efficient optimization algorithm, provides new possibilities for the optimization of complex systems. This paper aims to explore the modeling and optimization methods of complex industrial engineering systems based on quantum computing and big data analysis technology. Through the comprehensive application of quantum approximate optimization algorithm, quantum support vector machine, data mining and machine learning technology, this study has realized the accurate modeling and optimization of complex industrial engineering systems. The research results show that compared with the traditional ID3 algorithm, the method adopted in this study shows better real-time performance and smaller relative error in industrial system assessment, which significantly improves the accuracy of assessment. This achievement not only provides more reliable data support for the prediction and risk control of industrial systems, but also verifies the effectiveness of quantum computing and big data analysis in dealing with complex system modeling and optimization problems. To sum up, the method proposed in this paper is expected to bring sustainable development momentum to the field of industrial engineering, and improve the decision-making support ability and risk control level of enterprises.

Big data and quantum computation

Shuhao Wang, GuiLu LONG

With the explosion of big data, higher requirements for computational efficiency have emerged. Compared with classical computing, quantum computing possesses quantum parallelism due to the unique nature of quantum systems. It has been found that many classical algorithms can be accelerated using quantum computing. In addition to factorizing a large integer, quantum computers can be used for data processing and analysis. In recent years, two frontiers, i.e., big data and quantum computing have begun to merge. Though practical quantum computers have not yet been built, theoretical studies have made some important progress. In this review, we introduce the basic principles of quantum computing. As a representative example, we describe the Grover search algorithm and its important generalizations. Quantum machine learning is the entry point for the integration of big data with quantum computation. We review in detail, the applications of quantum computation in data mining, the main application of machine learning. Other aspects of quantum computing in big data are also briefly summarized.
