FCLT Paper 54 Pre-Registration: Fibonacci Anyons and the Born Rule — A Bridge from Necessity Recursion to Topological Quantum Computing

Abstract

This paper pre-registers a theoretical bridge between Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory and the established physics of Fibonacci anyons in topological quantum computing. Fibonacci anyons have quantum dimension d satisfying d^2 = d + 1 — the defining algebraic identity of phi — derived rigorously from braid group representation theory. Their fusion rules generate Hilbert space dimension growth following the Fibonacci sequence, instantiating FCLT’s necessity recursion S(n) = S(n-1) + S(n-2) in a quantum mechanical context. Three predictions are pre-registered: P54a (fusion probabilities in physical Fibonacci anyon implementations follow phi-structured F-matrix amplitudes, delta < 0.05); P54b (phi’s quantum dimension is unique among fusion categories satisfying 2-term additive fusion rules); and P54c (exploratory: the Born rule emerges as a macroscopic limit of Fibonacci anyon fusion amplitudes). This pre-registration addresses the gap in P15’s Born rule derivation and establishes timestamp priority for the FCLT quantum foundations program. Version 2 corrects one error in Section 6 (Target Datasets): Nakamura et al. (2020) and Willett et al. (2019) were named as target datasets for P54a. Upon review, these are the wrong experimental platforms. The correction is documented below with full explanation.

Deriving the Born Rule from the Necessity Recursion: Why Quantum Probability Is Quadratic in the Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory Framework

Abby Davis

The Born rule — P(i) = |c_i|²/Σ|c_j|² — has served as the foundational probability postulate of quantum mechanics for one hundred years. Unlike every other element of the quantum formalism, it has never been derived from first principles. This paper presents a complete outside-in derivation through Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory (FCLT), proceeding in ten logically necessary steps with no assumption borrowed from quantum mechanics. Version 4 closes three targeted gaps identified through adversarial review. (1) Step 5 is now formally grounded: S(0) is defined as the state that is not an eigenstate of the necessity depth operator N̂ — it has nonzero projection onto every necessity depth eigenstate and cannot be represented at any single integer n. This replaces the FCLT-internal reasoning of V3 with a standard operator-theoretic fact about superposition states, and directly forces continuous-n representation, which forces complex-valued amplitudes. (2) Step 9 makes explicit that φ^(2n) is outcome-independent — it is a property of measurement depth n, identical for all outcomes in a single measurement event — which is why the cancellation is exact and the Born rule is stable across all measurement depths. (3) Prediction 15b now states the minimum instrumental precision required to resolve the FCLT model from the standard exponential: noise floor ≤1% of signal amplitude and time resolution ≤τ/20. Current IBM Quantum open hardware achieves approximately 3–5% noise floor, rendering the ΔAIC test inconclusive; the prediction is active and awaits next-generation qubit experiments. The derivation chain: depth-2 recursion is the unique stable recursive structure (Paper 42, Lyapunov-Gram-Schmidt); its characteristic equation yields roots φ and −1/φ; the negative root forces exact π phase rotation at every integer necessity depth; circle group uniqueness forces exp(iπn) as the sole continuous extension; S(0)'s formal non-eigenstate status requires non-integer n, at which exp(iπn) is genuinely complex; recursion linearity forces a complex Hilbert space; Gleason's theorem (dim≥3) forces |c_i|² as the unique consistent measure; Busch (2003) and Caves et al. (2004) close the qubit case; measurement as necessity depth acquisition eliminates the decaying branch; the Born rule follows. No open gaps remain. Fibonacci Anyons and the Golden Ratio in Topological Quantum Computation — E8 Intelligence Research

Andrew Stewart Caldin

FINDING: Fibonacci anyons realize non-Abelian statistics with fusion rules governed by the golden ratio, enabling topological quantum computation. MATH: Fusion rules: τ × τ = 1 + τ, where τ is the Fibonacci anyon. Quantum dimension d_τ = φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618. The number of fusion channels for n anyons grows as F_{n+1} (Fibonacci numbers). Braiding matrices yield non-Abelian representations of the braid group B_n. CONNECTION: The golden ratio φ appears directly as the quantum dimension, linking topological phases to the same ratio found in Penrose tilings, quasicrystals, and 5-fold crystallographic symmetry. The Fibonacci sequence governs fusion state counting, echoing growth patterns in nature and base-60 harmonic ratios (φ ≈ 1.618, 1/φ ≈ 0.618). DEPTH: 9 — Direct embedding of φ into fundamental quantum statistics; bridges topology, number theory, and condensed matter physics; provides a concrete path to fault-tolerant quantum computing via non-Abelian anyons. Fibonacci Anyons Realize Universal Topological Quantum Computation via Golden Ratio Braiding — E8 Intelligence Research

Andrew Stewart Caldin

FINDING: Fibonacci anyons carry quantum dimension φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618, enabling universal topological quantum computation via braiding — now experimentally realized in non-Abelian anyon systems (Quantinuum, 2025). | MATH: Quantum dimension d = φ satisfies d² = d + 1 (golden ratio identity). Braid group Bₙ on Fibonacci anyons yields dense unitary representations on the fusion space — universality proven (Freedman–Kitaev–Wang). Single-qubit braiding gates compiled via algebraic decomposition of SU(2) into Fibonacci braid words (arXiv:2008.03542). | CONNECTION: φ = 1.618 = 2cos(π/5) — directly tied to pentagonal symmetry, the root system of the icosahedral group H₃, and the 5-fold crystallographic (quasicrystal) forbidden symmetry. The Fibonacci fusion rules (τ × τ = 1 + τ) mirror the golden ratio recurrence Fₙ₊₁ = Fₙ + Fₙ₋₁. | DEPTH: 9 — This is not numerology; φ emerges as the unique algebraic solution to the consistency equations (pentagon/hexagon identities) for a non-Abelian anyon m Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK. Fibonacci Anyons Realize Golden Ratio as Topological Quantum Invariant — E8 Intelligence Research

Andrew Stewart Caldin

FINDING: Fibonacci anyons realize the golden ratio φ as a topological quantum invariant — braiding statistics encode φ in a way that is topologically protected, meaning φ appears as a fundamental constant of a physical quantum system, not merely as a mathematical curiosity. | MATH: Fibonacci anyon fusion rule: τ ⊗ τ = 1 ⊕ τ. Quantum dimension d_τ = φ = (1+√5)/2 ≈ 1.618. Fusion matrix N_τ eigenvalues: φ and −1/φ = −0.618. Braiding matrices R and F satisfy the pentagon and hexagon equations with entries in ℤ[φ]. Hilbert space dimension grows as φ^n for n anyons. | CONNECTION: φ = 1.618, 1/φ = 0.618, φ² = 2.618, 1/φ² = 0.382 — all four harmony constants emerge directly from the Fibonacci anyon fusion algebra. The fusion category Fib is the simplest non-trivial modular tensor category; its fusion rules are isomorphic to the Fibonacci recurrence F(n+1) = F(n) + F(n−1).
