Quantum-Inspired Optimization of Machine Learning Model Architectures

Jincheng Zhang

The selection of an optimal machine learning (ML) model architecture is a critical, yet often computationally expensive, process. Traditional approaches frequently rely on manual design, grid search, or evolutionary algorithms, which can become intractable as model complexity increases. This paper proposes a novel approach to machine learning architecture design leveraging quantum-inspired optimization techniques. Specifically, we explore the application of algorithms inspired by quantum mechanics, such as amplitude amplification, to efficiently navigate the high-dimensional design space of ML architectures. Our methodology aims to identify architectures exhibiting both efficiency (e.g., reduced computational cost) and high performance (e.g., accuracy, F1-score) by simulating the probabilistic nature of quantum phenomena. The core idea is to treat architecture design as an optimization problem where the goal is to maximize a performance metric, and to use quantum-inspired algorithms to efficiently search for the optimal solution. We demonstrate the potential of this approach through a conceptual framework and outline future research directions.

Quantum-Inspired Optimization Techniques for Enhancing Classical Machine Learning Performance: A Comprehensive Review

Rattan Rana, Divyanshi Sharma

This study presents an in-depth and focused review of Quantum-based conceptual optimization Strategies and their impact in enhancing classical machine learning training. Quantum-inspired methods simulate key fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics, including superposition, entanglement, and quantum tunneling within classical computing environments to improve optimization efficiency. These techniques enable better exploration of complex search spaces, faster convergence, and improved capability to avoid local minima. The review examines major quantum-inspired algorithms, including evolutionary models, annealing-based methods, and hybrid quantum–classical frameworks, highlighting their strengths, limitations, and suitability for modern ML tasks. The study also discusses their relevance to sustainable, energy-efficient digital transformation in education and research. The goal is to present clear insights into how quantum-inspired optimization can strengthen traditional ML training without requiring quantum hardware.

Quantum-Inspired Optimization Algorithms for Scalable Machine Learning in Edge Computing

Rohit Goyal, Krishan Kumar, Vivek Sharma +3 more

The convergence of machine learning and edge computing has led to the development of scalable solutions that bring computation closer to the data source. However, optimizing machine learning models efficiently for edge devices poses challenges due to limited resources such as power, memory, and computational capability. Quantum-inspired optimization algorithms (QIOAs) offer a promising alternative to traditional optimization techniques, providing superior performance in constrained environments. This paper explores the application of QIOAs for scalable machine learning models in edge computing. We propose a novel hybrid quantum-inspired approach, benchmark it against classical algorithms, and demonstrate its efficacy in various edge computing environments. Experimental results show improved accuracy, reduced latency, and enhanced resource utilization.
