The EPPQ (Emergent Pre-Quantizable) framework seeks to derive spacetime andquantum mechanics from a purely relational substrate governed by a primordial distinctionα and the Principle of Absolute Historicity (PAH). While previous work (O1) established aconditional reconstruction of Riemannian geometry, the open problem O2—the emergenceof a causal, unidirectional temporal dynamics—has remained unresolved. The PAH, inits original form, is a static constraint; it prohibits ahistorical configurations but doesnot furnish a rule for selecting the actual historical trajectory among many admissibleones. This ambiguity is a manifestation of the Axiom of Choice in the relational setting:without a dynamical principle, the system’s evolution is either arbitrary or requires external,non-relational oracles. In this paper, we establish a rigorous local dynamics for O2 by elevating the PAH toa variational principle: the Principle of Minimal Historical Action (PMAH). We define adiscrete action functional that penalizes both local inconsistencies and the “forgetting” ofhistorical depth. We then introduce the Axiom of Relational Causality (ACR), which selectsthe physical, Markovian solution among the many non-causal extrema of the action. Underempirically motivated structural hypotheses (energy gap, monotonicity of the historicalcost), we prove a local well-posedness theorem: in the vicinity of a low-energy metamode, the PMAH+ACR dynamics is deterministic, uniquely defined, and converges exponentiallyto a fixed point via a contraction mapping. This result transforms the PAH from a passiverestriction into an active, time-generating engine. It resolves the local Axiom of Choiceambiguity and establishes the arrow of time as a consequence of historical dissipation. Thetheorem provides the rigorous dynamical foundation required for the emergence of quantummechanics (O3) and, ultimately, for closing the geometric problem O1.

This article constitutes Part IV of the O3 program within the Emergent Pre-Quantizable (EPPQ) framework, completing the axiomatic derivation of quantum mechanics from a deterministic relational substrate. The EPPQ program is based on a minimal relational ontology defined by a primordial distinction (α), the Principle of Absolute Historicity (PAH), and a local consistency operator Θ governing the evolution of configurations. Previous parts of O3 established that low-energy dynamics organize into metastable basins with strong timescale separation, and that—under an assumption of approximate reversibility—the Schrödinger equation, the Born rule, and the complex Hilbert space structure emerge. The present article removes this final assumption and proves it as a theorem. Specifically, we show that the effective Markov chain describing transitions between metastable basins is Nearly Completely Decomposable (NCD) with parameter ε ≪ 1, and satisfies the approximate detailed balance condition: π_i M_{ij} = π_j M_{ji} + O(ε²) The proof combines:- Simon–Ando theory of NCD Markov chains- Large deviation estimates of inter-basin transitions- Controlled asymmetry of the PMAH (Principle of Minimal Historical Action) Key results include: • Rigorous identification of the EPPQ effective dynamics as an NCD Markov system • Derivation of approximate reversibility with explicit O(ε²) bounds • Justification of the symmetrization S = D M D⁻¹ • Emergence of a Hermitian effective Hamiltonian • Proof that unitarity is exact in the thermodynamic limit • A deterministic mechanism for decoherence via the dissipative sector This result closes the final structural gap in O3 (Parts I–IV), establishing that unitary quantum mechanics is not fundamental, but emerges from deterministic relational dynamics. Additionally, the work identifies a residual irreversibility sector (O(ε²)) that may encode non-abelian gauge structures, suggesting a pathway toward the emergence of the Standard Model gauge sector in O4. The EPPQ framework thus provides a unified program in which:- spacetime,- quantum mechanics,- and gauge interactions emerge from a common relational foundation.
This work closes O3 (Emergence of Quantum Mechanics) in the EPPQ (Emergent Pre-Quantizable) framework by providing a mathematically controlled derivation of the Schrödinger equation from deterministic relational dynamics. Starting from the PMAH+ACR evolution established in O2, we construct an effective Markov chain on the space of metastable basins associated with low-energy metamodes. Under the separation of timescales and approximate detailed balance (both supported by prior analytical results and numerical simulations), the transition matrix M is shown to be a small perturbation of the identity. By symmetrization and spectral analysis, we prove that the logarithm of the transition operator is well-defined and yields an effective Hermitian generator. The dynamics decomposes into a skew-symmetric (unitary) component and a symmetric (dissipative) component. In the continuous-time limit, this leads to the Schrödinger equation: i ħ_eff dψ/dt = H_eff ψ where ψ_i = √μ_i arises from the coarse-grained probability distribution over basins, and ħ_eff is identified (up to a dimensionless constant) with the fundamental time step τ_Θ. All approximations are explicitly controlled by the small parameter ε = 1/min τ_i, and the emergence of unitary quantum evolution is shown to result from a controlled O(ε) breaking of reversibility induced by the historical asymmetry of the PMAH action. This work provides a rigorous bridge between deterministic relational dynamics and quantum mechanics, completing the dynamical foundation of the EPPQ program. --- Relation to the EPPQ program: - O2 (emergence of time and PMAH dynamics): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19585980- SOC-Θ 1 (stationarity and avalanche mechanism): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19596783- SOC-Θ 2 (criticality and scaling laws): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19598463- λ-SOC (emergence of the inertia parameter): https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19599410 This paper should be read as the effective quantum layer emerging from the metastable structure established in the SOC-Θ series.
This work provides a rigorous mathematical foundation for metastability and timescale separation in the Emergent Pre-Quantizable (EPPQ) framework. Building on previous results (O3 Parts I and II), where quantum mechanics was derived under structural assumptions, this paper removes those assumptions by proving that: - Fixed points of the deterministic relational dynamics correspond to strict local minima of the interface functional.- Each minimum defines a basin of attraction with well-defined Lyapunov structure.- The discrete Hessian at each metamode is positive definite and admits a spectral gap.- Intra-basin relaxation is controlled by the Hessian gap, while inter-basin transitions follow a large deviation principle.- A strong separation of timescales (τ_rel ≪ τ_esc) emerges naturally from the underlying dynamics. These results complete the axiomatic derivation of emergent quantum mechanics within the EPPQ program, showing that the effective Markovian dynamics and Hilbert space structure arise from purely relational and deterministic principles. This work (O3 — Part II) completes the derivation of the quantum mechanical formalism within the Emergent Pre-Quantizable (EPPQ) framework by establishing the necessary emergence of the complex Hilbert space structure from purely relational dynamics. Building upon O3 — Part I, where the Schrödinger equation and the Born rule were derived conditionally from coarse-grained Markov dynamics on metastable basins, this paper addresses the remaining foundational gap: the origin of complex amplitudes and quantum phases. We demonstrate that a discrete U(1) gauge structure naturally arises from the contextual layer of the EPPQ vacuum, formalized as a principal bundle over the vacuum graph. The associated holonomies (Wilson lines) induce geometric phases along microscopic trajectories. By analyzing the interference of these trajectories, we prove that: • Transition amplitudes must take values in the complex field ℂ • The Born rule P = |ψ|² is the unique probability measure compatible with superposition and gauge invariance • The effective Hamiltonian emerges from the skew-symmetric component of the coarse-grained Markov generator and is directly determined by contextual holonomies Furthermore, we show that the same structure yields, in a specific spectral sector, the Yukawa matrices of the Standard Model, including nontrivial complex phases responsible for CP violation. The results establish that the complex structure of quantum mechanics is not an independent postulate, but a necessary consequence of relational holonomy and trajectory interference. This provides the missing link between the geometric constructions of O1/O4 and the emergent quantum dynamics of O3. This work is part of a broader program (EPPQ) aimed at deriving spacetime, quantum theory, and particle physics from a minimal relational ontology.
Action principles, phase accumulation and quantized closure appear across classical mechanics, quantum theory, semiclassical dynamics, superfluidity and geometric phase phenomena. Their coexistence is familiar; their structural relationship is usually taken as part of the established formalism. Here we reconstruct that relationship in the opposite direction. Starting from persistent relational dynamics, we show how a real two-component rotation supplies a phase coordinate without assuming a primitive complex number, how a relational canonical one-form can connect phase increments to action-like increments, and how stationary phase and global phase consistency impose two distinct selection conditions. The local condition yields stationary action, δA_R = 0. The global condition yields integral symplectic periods. Under the explicit convention F_R = −iΩ_R/κ_A for a U(1) connection curvature, global compatibility requires [Ω_R/(2πκ_A)] ∈ H²(M_R,Z), equivalently ∫_Σ Ω_R = 2πnκ_A on closed two-cycles. This separates the origin of discreteness from the origin of the dimensionful conversion scale. Topology fixes integer classes; it does not determine κ_A. We therefore identify a precise remaining problem: what selects a unique, universal and non-zero κ⋆ across coherently composable sectors? The framework makes this question falsifiable by requiring cross-scale closure, causal ancestry, intervention consistency and independence from observer compression. It also distinguishes a universal phase–action conversion scale from scale-dependent effective couplings. The result is a sharpened bridge from relational phase to stationary dynamics and quantized closure, with a mathematically explicit boundary between what is derived, what is inherited from established geometry, and what remains to be selected dynamically. The revision formalizes an Action-Scale Factorization Theorem together with Exact-Action and Curvature-Compatibility no-go results, thereby separating the existence of quantized closed-path sectors from the still-open physical selection of a universal non-zero scale such as ħ.
# Project Description: The Relational Closure Framework (RCF) ## 1. Project Purpose and Background (研究目的与背景) Modern fundamental physics faces deep structural crises, primarily manifested in the mathematical and conceptual incompatibilities between General Relativity (space-time geometry) and Quantum Mechanics (probability amplitudes and non-locality). Most contemporary attempts at unification (such as String Theory or Loop Quantum Gravity) retain the classical paradigm of "objects" (e.g., strings, loops, points) or pre-existing spacetime backgrounds as their ontological starting point. The purpose of this research project is to develop and formalize the **Relational Closure Framework (RCF)**, a radical, background-independent, and purely relational foundation for physics. RCF operates on the core philosophical and mathematical premise that **relations are ontologically prior to objects**. Objects, spaces, fields, and particles do not possess inherent existence; instead, they are emergent phenomena. The framework systematically models how stable physical entities and laws arise from self-consistent, discrete cyclic relations called **closures**. When discrete relations close upon themselves, they generate topological invariants (**holonomies**) that act as structural anchors. The ultimate goal of this project is to provide a rigorous mathematical derivation of the core pillars of physics—including conservation laws, the principle of least action, Born’s rule, the speed of light, and the emergence of continuous spacetime—directly from the discrete algebraic properties of these closure networks. ## 2. Methodology and Theoretical Architecture (方法论与理论架构) The project proceeds axiomatically by establishing four primary structural axioms and one fundamental derived theorem, utilizing tools from abstract algebra, higher category theory, operator algebras (von Neumann algebras), and quantum information theory: * **Axiom 1 (Primacy of Relations):** Pure distinction forms the precursor to all relations. There are no pre-existing entities or backgrounds. * **Derived Theorem 1 (Non-Commutativity):** Because relations must occur sequentially to establish distinction, non-commutativity is a mathematically derived necessity, providing the foundational algebra for quantum observables. * **Axiom 2 (Closure-Induced Invariance):** Stable structures exist if and only if relations form self-consistent cyclic configurations. These closures generate topological invariants (holonomies) across different topological scales. * **Axiom 3 (Chirality from Order):** Spatial and structural chirality (such as the \mathbb{Z}_3 minimal non-trivial chiral closure) emerges inherently from the algebraic ordering of relations. * **Axiom 4 (Bidirectional Group Exchange):** Observation and physical measurement are modeled not as passive recordings, but as bidirectional group-theoretic exchanges between overlapping relational systems forming a joint closure. ## 3. Expected Outcomes and Key Derivations (预期数学成果与推导) The primary expected outcome of this project is a self-consistent mathematical physics framework that derives standard physics as a macroscopic statistical limit of the discrete network. Specifically, the framework delivers the following five principal theoretical results: * **A Generalized Noether Theorem:** The project proves that physical conservation laws are equivalent to the non-trivial kernel of the relational exchange map. In the continuous limit, this reduces to standard Noether currents, but in the discrete regime, it predicts strictly discrete, quantized conserved numbers. * **Derivation of the Least Action Principle:** The action functional (S) is derived as a direct function of the network’s closure invariants (holonomies). The classical principle of least action (\delta S = 0) is shown to be equivalent to a non-Abelian Kirchhoff's law enforcing relational consistency across the network, recovering Maxwell and Yang-Mills fields in the continuous limit. * **Emergence of the Speed of Light (c) and Causality:** Utilizing the **Lieb-Robinson bound** on discrete networks, the project demonstrates that the propagation of structural constraints has a finite, maximum velocity (v_{LR}). This maximum velocity is identified as the physical speed of light (c = v_{LR}). Consequently, causal consistency (the absence of closed timelike curves) emerges as a mathematical corollary of network locality. * **Derivation of the Born Rule:** Quantum randomness is explained via the **Nakajima-Zwanzig projection method** acting on the information limits of localized observers. By applying the **Gleason-Busch theorem**, the quadratic probability rule (|\alpha|^2) is derived rigorously from finite additivity and non-contextuality within the closure space. * **Origin of Spacetime and Wave Functions:** Physical spacetime is reinterpreted as a "pseudo-continuity"—a statistical artifact arising from mutually constraining discrete closures. Similarly, wave functions and the Schrödinger equation are derived as the statistical envelopes of underlying discrete constraint-gap dynamics. ## 4. Empirical Predictions and Observational Significance (经验预测与实验检验) While primarily a foundational and theoretical physics project, RCF yields distinct, falsifiable empirical predictions that differentiate it from standard quantum mechanics and general relativity, providing a clear pathway for future experimental validation (e.g., via multi-ion traps or superconducting qubit benchmarks): * **Observer-Capacity Dependent Decoherence:** RCF predicts that a quantum system's phase dephasing rate (\gamma_{deph}) is explicitly bounded by, and scales non-linearly with, the total information storage/processing capacity (C) of the local physical observer. * **The Quantum "Locking Phase Transition":** The framework predicts that when the information required to specify a quantum state (I_{req}) approaches the maximum capacity of the environment/observer (C), the system will undergo a sharp, non-linear phase transition, dramatically freezing its lifetime within its pointer basis. * **Non-Linear S-Shaped Trigger Curves:** In quantum erasure or interferometry tracking experiments, the interference visibility (V) as a function of information saturation (\Delta = I_{req} - C) is predicted to follow a distinct Sigmoid (S-shaped) curve, rather than the linear or pure exponential decay predicted by standard environmental decoherence models. * **Cosmological Entropy Bounds:** The framework provides a localized, boundary-driven explanation for de Sitter space entropy, predicting the maximum cosmological observer complexity to be bounded near S_{dS} \approx 10^{122} based on the global finiteness of the constraint network.
