Abstract

We establish a proof that pure Yang-Mills theory in four-dimensional Euclidean space possesses a mass gap Delta > 0, addressing one of the Clay Millennium Prize problems. The argument combines the Freed-Hopkins-Teleman correspondence mapping the center symmetry Z_6 of SU(3) Yang-Mills to the modular tensor category SU(3)_3 tensor SU(2)_2, the Walker-Wang model construction of a 4+1D topological phase, and Bauer theorem that such models with modular input have trivial bulk. The 3+1D boundary inherits all excitations and admits a rank-1 transfer matrix, yielding a unique ground state and mass gap Delta = 2pi/(9R) > 0. Lattice glueball spectrum agreement to 5.5% provides empirical validation. Remaining gaps toward the full Clay Prize criterion are identified.

Entanglement Spectrum of the SU(3)₃ ⊗ SU(2)₂ String-Net Model: A Baseline Computation for the AME(4,6) Theory

[NOTE, June 2026: This paper is part of the AME(4,6)/TOE series whose headline claims were partially retracted. In particular the "zero free parameters" framing and several numerical predictions are withdrawn; see the Status Note at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20618848 and the maintained mathematics at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20128951. The text below is unchanged and remains as the record of the programme's history.] We construct the Levin-Wen string-net model for the product modular tensor category SU(3)₃ ⊗ SU(2)₂ on a triangulated cylinder and compute its entanglement spectrum using a transfer matrix method. This product MTC, with 30 anyon types, total quantum dimension D=12, and central charge c=11/2, arises as the boundary theory of the Walker-Wang model associated with the AME(4,6) quantum error-correcting code. The entanglement spectrum at the exactly solvable point shows a degeneracy structure {1, 12, 17, ...} organized by quantum dimensions. We verify all modular data for both factors and confirm that no graviton mode appears at the topological point. This establishes the baseline for future investigations of emergent gravity.

Disentangling modular Walker-Wang models via fermionic invertible boundaries

Andreas Bauer

Walker-Wang models are fixed-point models of topological order in $3+1$ dimensions constructed from a braided fusion category. For a modular input category $\mathcal{M}$, the model itself is invertible and is believed to be in a trivial topological phase, whereas its standard boundary is supposed to represent a $(2+1$)-dimensional chiral phase. In this work we explicitly show triviality of the model by constructing an invertible domain wall to vacuum as well as a disentangling generalized local unitary circuit in the case where $\mathcal{M}$ is a Drinfeld center. Moreover, we show that if we allow for fermionic (auxiliary) degrees of freedom inside the disentangling domain wall or circuit, the model becomes trivial for a larger class of modular fusion categories, namely, those in the Witt classes generated by the Ising unitary modular tensor category. We also discuss general (noninvertible) boundaries of general Walker-Wang models and describe a simple axiomatization of extended topological quantum field theory in terms of tensors.

Gap stability for center-stabilized SU(3) Yang-Mills via topological quantum order and the BHM theorem

Martin Wolfgang Le Borgne

We prove that center-stabilized SU(N_c) Yang-Mills theory on R³×S¹ has a positive mass gap for all compactification radii. The Bravyi-Hastings-Michalakis (BHM) gap stability theorem is extended to gauge-invariant Hilbert spaces using the exact local topological quantum order (LTQO) provided by the Z_{N_c} center symmetry. For pure SU(3) Yang-Mills, the double-trace deformation decouples exponentially at large R, yielding a conditional mass gap for R > R_BHM ≈ 12/Λ_QCD. Complete R-Matrix Braiding Catalog for SU(3)_3 Modular Tensor Category

In particular the "zero free parameters" framing and several numerical predictions are withdrawn; see the Status Note at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20618848 and the maintained mathematics at DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20128951. The text below is unchanged and remains as the record of the programme's history.] We present the complete R-matrix braiding catalog for SU(3)_3 modular tensor category, comprising all 144 eigenvalues across 55 anyon pairs. Each eigenvalue takes the form exp(in*pi/18) where n is an integer, establishing that pi/18 serves as the universal phase quantum. The catalog is obtained through direct Sage computation (127 eigenvalues), charge conjugation symmetry (15 eigenvalues), and a novel Hopf link derivation for the multiplicity-2 channel (1,1) x (1,1) -> (1,1) (2 eigenvalues). We verify consistency through the Verlinde formula (144/144 channels confirmed) and charge conjugation symmetry (71/71 pairs, zero failures). Universal patterns discovered include: (i) the adjoint anyon (1,1) produces a universal elastic phase of -pi/2 for all non-simple-current anyons, (ii) adjoint self-braiding yields exclusively fourth roots of unity, and (iii) the simple current (3,0) generates phases that are exact multiples of pi/3. This catalog provides the foundational braiding data for the AME(4,6) theory of everything based on the Walker-Wang model.

The local module category of SU(3)_3 ⊗ SU(2)_2: an Ising condensed phase

Adam Bazih

[CORRECTION NOTE, June 2026: This companion paper inherits the corrected classification: the object 1 + ((1,1);1) (d_A = 4) is NOT an algebra (its generator fails fusion closure); the correct algebras are the Z3 simple-current algebra (d_A = 3) and the maximal algebra (d_A = 6). The condensed phase is the nu=11 Ising-type category of the sixteen-fold way - the modular tensor category of SO(11)_1 (h_sigma = 11/16), fixed by the preserved central charge c = 11/2 mod 8 - which shares its fusion rules with Ising and its fusion category with SU(2)_2 but is equivalent to neither as a braided category (the claim 'matching the Ising MTC (equivalently SU(2)_2)' below is corrected accordingly). See DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20618695 (concept 10.5281/zenodo.20128951). The text below is the original and is retained for the record.] We compute the local module category ClocA for the condensable algebra A = 1 ⊕ ((1,1);1) in the product modular tensor category SU(3)3 ⊗ SU(2)2. Starting from the rank-30 parent theory with total quantum dimension D2 = 144, we identify the unique modular invariant Z commuting with the modular S- and T-matrices, extract a 30×3 branching matrix, and compute the condensed S-matrix via Sloc = (1/dA)bTSb. The result is a rank-3 modular tensor category with quantum dimensions (1, 1, √2), total quantum dimension D2 = 4, and modular data matching the Ising MTC (equivalently SU(2)2) to machine precision. The D2 discrepancy between intrinsic (= 4) and extrinsic (= 9) values is resolved by the embedding dimension factor (d0embed)2 = 9/4. This is a companion paper to 'Anyon condensation in SU(3)3 ⊗ SU(2)2: condensable algebras, monodromy spectrum, and the Z6 fusion ring' (Bazih, 2026), resolving its Remark 3.4 on the structure of ClocA.

Enriched string-net models and their excitations

David Geoffrey Green, Peter Huston, Kyle Kawagoe +3 more

Boundaries of Walker-Wang models have been used to construct commuting projector models which realize chiral unitary modular tensor categories (UMTCs) as boundary excitations. Given a UMTC A representing the Witt class of an anomaly, the article \cite{MR4640433} gave a commuting projector model associated to an A -enriched unitary fusion category X on a 2D boundary of the 3D Walker-Wang model associated to A . That article claimed that the boundary excitations were given by the enriched center/Müger centralizer ZA(X) of A in Z(X) .In this article, we give a rigorous treatment of this 2D boundary model, and we verify this assertion using topological quantum field theory (TQFT) techniques, including skein modules and a certain semisimple algebra whose representation category describes boundary excitations. We also use TQFT techniques to show the 3D bulk point excitations of the Walker-Wang bulk are given by the Müger center Z2(A) , and we construct bulk-to-boundary hopping operators Z2(A)→ZA(X) reflecting how the UMTC of boundary excitations ZA(X) is symmetric-braided enriched in Z2(A) .This article also includes a self-contained comprehensive review of the Levin-Wen string net model from a unitary tensor category viewpoint, as opposed to the skeletal 6j symbol viewpoint.
