Exploration of Post-Quantum Cryptography Application Scenarios in 5G and Evolved Networks

xie lu, Tao Zheng, Ran Ge +3 more

With the rapid development of quantum technology, quantum attacks have provided global countries with a new perspective to view this new technological storm. Cryptography, as the cornerstone of Internet security and trust, will open a new chapter of cryptography in the context of the new era in the challenges brought by quantum attacks. Post-quantum cryptography has thus developed rapidly. This paper focuses on the research of post-quantum cryptography technology, analyzing the current development status and challenges of post-quantum cryptography, exploring from the perspective of basic telecommunications operators the scenarios and key technical points that post-quantum cryptography should have in 5G and evolved networks, and deeply explores the significance and value of post-quantum cryptography applications based on technology and compliance metrics, so as to provide technical reference for post-quantum cryptography applications.

Cryptography: Classical versus Post-Quantum

Abhinav Awasthi, Atul Chaturvedi

The advantages of post-quantum cryptography over classical cryptography are covered in this survey. We address several post-quantum cryptography techniques. We conclude that the deployment of quantum-safe cryptographic systems is anticipated to be the future of secure communication, and that the development of post-quantum cryptography is essential to guarantee the security of sensitive information in the post quantum era.

A Survey on Post-Quantum Cryptography: State-of-the-Art and Challenges

Marel Alvarado, Luke Gayler, Alex Seals +2 more

The paper explains that post-quantum cryptography is necessary due to the introduction of quantum computing causing certain algorithms to be broken. We analyze the different types of post-quantum cryptography, quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant cryptography, to provide a thorough understanding of the current solutions to the problems and their limitations. We explain the current state of quantum computing and how it has changed over time while discussing possible attacks on both types of post-quantum cryptography. Next, current post-quantum algorithms are discussed, and implementations are demonstrated. Lastly, we conclude that due to quantum cryptography's present limitations it is not a viable solution like it is often presented to be and that it is currently better to use quantum-resistant cryptography.
