A team working in the new Polish National Laboratory for Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics obtained the first Polish Bose-Einstein condensate of 87 Rb atoms in a magnetic trap. The paper describes the experimental approach as well as the first observations, and discusses the very special methodology of ultra-low-temperature physics.
