Abstract

The rapidly developing topic of quantum artificial intelligence (AI) combines machine learning with quantum computing to revolutionise data processing, boost efficiency, and address issues. However, quantum AI uses the ideas of superposition, entanglement, and quantum parallelism to execute complex computations much more quickly rather than relying on conventional binary computer systems. The promise of quantum AI in domains including materials science, healthcare, finance, and cryptography is examined critically in this study. Thus, by examining certain recent developments in quantum hardware, quantum algorithms, and hybrid quantum-classical models, this paper explores the revolutionary potential of quantum computing in artificial intelligence. Advances in quantum technology indicate a bright future for investigating the area of quantum AI in new computing challenges that conventional AI cannot address, notwithstanding the limits of noise, hardware, and error correction.

Quantum Artificial Intelligence: A Comprehensive Review of Architectures, Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

Eslam Ashraf Elhadidi, Ahmad Salah

The field of Quantum Artificial Intelligence (Quantum AI) has emerged as a promising interdisciplinary research area where the computational power of quantum computing is merged with the learning and decision-making power of AI. The application of quantum principles such as superposition, entanglement and quantum interference to machine learning algorithms has created new possibilities for solving problems that may be difficult to solve by classical machines. In the last few years, advances in Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices have helped to speed advances in Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithms, Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs), Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVMs), Quantum Convolutional Neural Networks (QCNNs) and hybrid learning algorithms. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the research in the field of Quantum AI from 2020 to 2026, covering the key concepts, novel architectures, algorithmic advancements, and practical applications. A critical assessment of the application of Quantum AI in fields such as healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, scientific computing and optimization problems is provided, and the benefits of quantum-enhanced learning models are discussed. In addition, common difficulties such as quantum hardware limitations, sensitivity to noise, encoding of data, scalability constraints and a lack of speed in training variational quantum circuits are discussed. The review also covers new avenues of research, including trustworthy quantum machine learning, explainable Quantum AI, quantum federated learning, and fault-tolerant quantum computing. The results suggest while practical large-scale deployment is currently limited by existing hardware capabilities, hybrid quantum-classical systems have great potential to rapidly move intelligent data processing and develop next-generation AI systems.

Isabella N. Carter, Arjun V. Nair, Omar Al-Farsi

Quantum computing has emerged as one of the most promising technologies capable of solving computational problems beyond the capabilities of classical computers. When integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Machine Learning (QML) offers new possibilities for accelerating data processing, optimizing complex models, and improving predictive performance. Unlike conventional machine learning algorithms that rely solely on classical computation, QML leverages quantum phenomena such as superposition, entanglement, and quantum interference to perform computations more efficiently. This paper presents a comprehensive review of Quantum Machine Learning, discussing its architecture, core algorithms, applications, benefits, limitations, and future research directions. The study highlights the potential of QML in healthcare, cybersecurity, financial analytics, scientific research, and optimization problems. Additionally, the paper examines the challenges associated with quantum hardware, scalability, error correction, and algorithm development. The findings suggest that although Quantum Machine Learning remains in its early stages, it represents a transformative technology that may redefine intelligent computing over the coming decades.

The convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence has introduced a new paradigm in computational science known as Quantum Artificial Intelligence (QAI). By leveraging quantum mechanical principles such as superposition, entanglement, and quantum parallelism, QAI aims to overcome the limitations of classical machine learning, particularly in handling high-dimensional data, complex optimization, and scalability issues. This paper presents a comprehensive review of foundational concepts in both classical machine learning and quantum computing, followed by an in-depth discussion of emerging quantum algorithms tailored for AI applications, such as quantum neural networks, quantum support vector machines, and variational quantum classifiers. We explore the practical implications of these approaches across key sectors, including healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, and logistics. Furthermore, we identify critical challenges related to hardware limitations, algorithmic stability, data encoding, and ethical considerations. Finally, we outline research directions necessary to advance the field, highlighting the transformative potential of QAI in shaping the next generation of intelligent technologies

Introduction to Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence

Gursewak Singh, Nimisha Singh, Ramandeep Sandhu +2 more

Quantum Artificial Intelligence (QAI) combines quantum computing with artificial intelligence (AI) to surpass the traditional barriers of classical computing systems, such as their inability to solve large-scale optimization problems or simulate complex quantum systems, which require exponentially increasing computational resources. Quantum computing, on the other hand, makes use of quantum mechanical phenomena of superposition, entanglement, and interference to process millions of data points in parallel, avoiding the exponential computation needed in many complex problems. QAI combines principles of quantum computing with AI techniques, thereby accelerating model learning. Some of the most notable applications include drug discovery in terms of exact predictions of molecular interactions, due to the enhancement of quantum simulations. There are cryptographic applications where QAI challenges classical encryption but also contains more advanced, non-breakable quantum cryptographic methods. In the same way as general advances in the field of data analysis and optimization, these domains would change: financial modeling, cybersecurity, and climate science. The biggest challenges remaining in scaling quantum hardware are noise and decoherence. Solutions will require major advances in quantum error correction, along with hybrid quantum-classical systems integrating the strengths of each. At this point, added to the list of critical concerns in the development of QAI are ethical considerations such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and transparency. But all this notwithstanding, QAI has the transformative potential to solve problems that classical AI was unable to solve and drive innovation in domains ranging from healthcare and environmental science to cryptography and beyond. Unlocking its full capabilities and overcoming the resultant technical and ethical challenges is by way of further research and collaboration.

Role of Artificial Intelligence in Quantum Computers

Sandeep Chouhan, Ramandeep Sandhu, Chandani Bhasin

The union of artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing (QC) is set to revolutionize computational power, ushering in a new era of technology. While machine learning (ML) revolutionized industries with the capability of making intelligent predictions based on data processing, it is circumscribed by the constraints of classical computer science. QC, which can process massive data concurrently with the aid of quantum bits (qubits), solves these limitations. Quantum machine learning (QML) involves QC but adds traditional ML algorithms to make the processing of complex data sets faster and efficient. Taking advantage of quantum properties like superposition and entanglement, QML can advance model training, speed up pattern recognition, and solve large-scale issues that classical ML cannot do or is impossible. This technology will see phenomenal advances in health care, cryptography, financial analysis, and drug development. The combination of AI and quantum computing will dramatically speed up the scope and scale of ML operations and open up new avenues to accomplish things in ways that were previously impossible. Although challenges exist in creating stable quantum systems and scalable algorithms, the pairing of AI, ML, and QML is a watershed moment in computational science.
