The Pauli Time-Operator Constraint: A Theorem About Regular Weyl Pairs, Not a Prohibition on Time Observables

Abstract

Part I — The Pauli Time-Operator Constraint: A Theorem About Regular Weyl Pairs, Not a Prohibition on Time Observables[PDF pages 1–33; internal pages i–28] Establishes that the standard Pauli prohibition rests on an unstated assumption — that the canonical commutation relation on a dense domain implies the Weyl relation as an equality of unitary operators on the full Hilbert space. This implication is shown to fail via Nelson’s analytic-vector theorem and the Galapon counterexample. Fifty explicit constructions of time observables for bounded-below Hamiltonians, spanning six categories, demonstrate that the Pauli constraint governs only regular Weyl pairs and imposes no restriction on time observables generally. Part II — Time as the Governing Operator in 3D+1 Spacetime[PDF pages 34–91; internal pages i–52] Part II opens with a Preface and About the Author section, reflecting continuity of argument from Part I. The mathematical liberation established in Part I — that time observables are not prohibited for bounded-below Hamiltonians — serves as the foundation for a complete physical framework. Time is promoted from a passive coordinate to an active operator possessing an elastic modulus (Et = c²), a dynamical equation derived from the geodesic equation, and an emergent origin recovered through the WKB approximation of the Wheeler–DeWitt equation. A modified Schrödinger equation incorporating an entropy-coupled decoherence kernel provides a continuous mechanism for wavefunction collapse without an external measurement postulate. An angular-bias projection formalism demonstrates how observers confined to 3D+1 spacetime perceive density distributions through a time-evolving angular window, yielding apparent dark matter profiles with NFW-like asymptotics — steep inner cusp transitioning to r⁻³ outer falloff — without invoking new particle species. Dark energy density is derived as a time-integrated kinetic accumulation, bounded at late times by the decoherence regulator. The Einstein field equations are extended with an entropy-time modulation weight Ξ, producing a closed system of field equations (B1–B7) that recovers standard general relativity when Ξ → 1, standard quantum mechanics when λ → 0, and ΛCDM cosmology when evaluated at the present epoch. Each core claim is supported by no fewer than five independent derivations with all variables defined at first use. Falsification criteria are provided, including SPARC rotation-curve consistency, altitude-dependent quantum decoherence time scaling, time-dependent dark energy equation of state, lensing surface density stability, and angular-bias dependence in quantum interference experiments. Quantum Gravity: A Self-Adjoint Time Operator as a Quantum Observable

Ilija Barukčić

Background:In quantum mechanics energy is an observable, whereas time is a parameter. Pauli's theorem and the problem of time in canonical quantum gravity reflect this asymmetry.Material and methods:We define the time operator $\hat{t}=\hat{x}/c$ and form, with the relativistic energy $\hat{E}_R$, Einstein's constant $\kappa$ and the time $\hat{t}_0$ in the rest system, operators of gravitational-field and curvature type. Commutation relations, wave equations and spectra are derived in the time and in the energy representation. Results:The commutator $[\hat{t},\hat{E}_R]=\tfrac{i\hbar}{c}\hat{v}_x$ is bounded with norm $\hbar$ and is not a multiple of the identity, so Pauli's theorem is not contradicted. The sum $c\,\hat{t}+\kappa\hat{E}_R$ is unitarily equivalent to the time operator and has a continuous spectrum with explicit eigenfunctions. A postulated field equation, $\hat{G}_0+\hat{\Lambda}=\kappa\hat{E}_R$, has the structure of Einstein's equation; the term $\hat{\Lambda}$ is an operator with continuous spectrum, the Ricci scalar operator contains the energy, and for small velocities the equation becomes the Schr\"odinger equation of a particle in a homogeneous field. Conclusion:Based on the postulated field equation, a quantization of the gravitational-field and curvature terms is derived: they become operators with explicit commutation relations and spectra. The metric tensor of Einstein's field equation has not been quantized.\par

The Yamagishi Time Operator and Clock Subsystem Theory ── POVM Circumvention of Pauli's Theorem and the Emergence of Time in the Static Wheeler--DeWitt Universe ── [Paper 54]

Yuuki Yamagishi

For the "non-existence of a time operator T" in quantum mechanics (Pauli's theorem) and the "disappearance of time" in quantum gravity (the Wheeler--DeWitt equation HΨ=0), we give a unified interpretation from the standpoint of computer architecture. First, we state Pauli's theorem in its precise form with premises made explicit --- when the spectrum of the Hamiltonian is bounded from below, no self-adjoint operator T satisfying the canonical relation [ H, T]=iħ exists --- and sketch its proof (Theorem 2.1). Second, we make explicit that this theorem does not deny the existence of time observables: time observables such as time of arrival genuinely exist as POVMs (positive operator valued measures) rather than self-adjoint operators (Section 3). In the Universe OS picture this reads naturally as time being readable but not writable --- a Read-Only attribute. Third, we cite the Page--Wootters mechanism (1983), showing that a rigorous mechanism for the internal emergence of time from a static global state is already established. The "static database plus execution loop" picture of this paper is positioned as a computational restatement of that mechanism. The first edition's formulation in terms of an "external rendering loop" is withdrawn, since it merely displaces the problem of time outside the system rather than resolving it, and is replaced by a formulation in terms of an internal clock subsystem (Correction record 5.1). Further corrections in the second edition: (i) the first edition claimed that the “Read-Only attribute” reading is consistent with the concept of Paper 29, but the second edition of Paper 29 withdraws that Read-Only attribute claim itself; the reference has been removed (Section 3.2). The reading of that section nevertheless rests on the distinction between POVMs and self-adjoint operators and does not depend on Paper 29. (ii) The claim that the correspondence table “guarantees” the picture is not mere metaphor has been weakened --- the existence of a correspondence does not imply explanatory power (Section 4.2). The contribution of this paper is confined to organising established content (Pauli's theorem, POVMs, the Page--Wootters mechanism) in the vocabulary of computer architecture. It claims no new physics. A note on the aim of this work. This is a structural reinterpretation of well-established physics, not a proposal for a new physical law. Every relation shown is a substitution into, or a geometric re-reading of, equations that are already known and that remain unchanged. The aim is a modest one: to make a few recurring geometric structures — in particular the solid angle 4π and the exponent n = 2 — easier to see within a single picture. Where a particular unit convention is adopted (for example G = 4π), this is a choice of notation, not a claim about nature. Nothing here is intended to contradict existing results. On the making of this work: The ideas and content of this work stem from the author's own considerations. Assistance from an AI (a large language model) was used for structuring, English translation, and checking the algebra. Any remaining errors or misinterpretations are solely the author's. Feedback and corrections are sincerely appreciated.

Derivation of Continuous Quantum Dynamics from Discrete Relational Clock Shifts and the Circumvention of Pauli's Theorem

A.B.M Masum Billah Mim

The fundamental problem of time in quantum foundations stems from treating time as an external continuous parameter $t \in \mathbb{R}$, which conflicts with canonical quantization constraints and Pauli's objection regarding bounded Hamiltonians. In this work, we present a background-independent framework where physical evolution is governed by discrete relational updates between a target system $\mathcal{H}_S$ and an internal clock space $\mathcal{H}_C \equiv \ell^2(\mathbb{Z})$. By defining an exact nearest-neighbor symmetric shift generator $\hat{K}_C$, we prove that the global constraint $\hat{C}|\Psi\rangle = 0$ is identically equivalent to a discrete symmetric step equation for Page--Wootters conditioned states without infinite-range approximations. We demonstrate that as the clock step parameter $\tau_C \to 0$, these discrete state sequences converge in the strong operator topology to the continuous time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation with an exact $\mathcal{O}(\tau_C^2)$ error bound on $\mathcal{D}(\hat{H}_S^3)$. Finally, we provide a mathematical resolution of Pauli's theorem, showing how kinematic space factorization and the modified lattice commutator preserve lower energy bounds on $\hat{H}_S$.

On the Problem of Time(s) in Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Gravity: recent integrating developments and outlook

M. Bauer, Cesar Augusto Aguillon

Canonical quantization applied to closed systems leads to static equations, the Wheeler-deWitt equation in Quantum Gravity and the time independent Schrödinger equation in Quantum Mechanics. How to restore time is the Problem of Time(s). Integrating developments are: a) entanglement of a microscopic system with its classical environment accords it a time evolution description, the time dependent Schrödinger equation, where t is the laboratory time measured by clocks; b) canonical quantization of Special Relativity yields both the Dirac Hamiltonian and a self adjoint "time" operator, restoring to position and time the equivalent footing accorded to energy and momentum in Relativistic Quantum Mechanics. It introduces an intrinsic time property τ associated with the mass of the system, and a basis additional to the usual configuration, momentum and energy basis. As a generator of momentum displacements and consequently of energy, it invalidates Pauli's objection to the existence of a time operator. It furthermore complies with the requirements to condition the other observables in the conditional interpretation of QG. As Pauli's objection figures explicit or implicitly in most current developments of QM and QG, its invalidation opens to research the effect of this new two times perspective on such developments.

The Geometry of Quantum Mechanics: Hilbert Structure, Unitary Dynamics, Spin, Measurement, and the One-Particle Quantum Theory in Six-Throat Directed Spacetime

Ibrahim Mohammed Mussa

Paper XXII of the Six-Throat Directed Geometry program derives the mathematical structure of one-particle quantum mechanics from the directed spinor dynamics established on the regular closed six-throat spacetime. Starting from the conserved curved-spacetime Dirac current, the construction produces a positive and slice-independent inner product and its Hilbert-space completion. The corresponding geometric propagator is unitary and satisfies composition, inverse, and adjoint closure. Real physical observables are represented by self-adjoint operators with real spectra and orthogonal spectral resolutions. The compact global geometry yields an exact periodic commutator algebra, while the standard canonical position-momentum relation is recovered on regular local charts. The Robertson and Schrödinger-Robertson uncertainty relations then follow from the same Hilbert-space structure. The tetrad Clifford algebra generates the intrinsic spin-one-half representation, including the expected spin magnitude, the spinor sign reversal under a full two-pi rotation, and the rotational multiplets obtained by coupling orbital and intrinsic angular momentum. Detector-surface current is promoted from the direct Born-flux construction of Paper XXI to a general positive measurement structure described by a non-projective POVM and the trace probability rule. Density operators, purity, von Neumann entropy, conditional access states, and Kraus dephasing channels arise within the same measurement framework. The positive-energy Dirac branch reduces at low energy to Pauli dynamics and, when the spin-covariant terms commute appropriately, to the Schrödinger Hamiltonian. The same unitary framework yields the Liouville-von Neumann equation, the Heisenberg operator equation, and the Ehrenfest relations in the local directed potential. A forty-three-condition numerical closure audit satisfies all 43 declared conditions across the derived one-particle structure. Representative numerical results include Hilbert-product and unitary residuals at approximately machine precision, exact spin-one-half algebra to numerical precision, POVM completeness at machine precision, low-energy wave-packet infidelity of 3.16 × 10⁻¹⁰ for the stated audit configuration, and Schrödinger-Heisenberg expectation agreement at 5.66 × 10⁻¹⁷. The result is a single geometric chain from conserved spacetime flux to one-particle state space, unitary dynamics, observables, commutators, uncertainty, spin, measurement operators, statistical states, and the low-energy quantum equations. Composite systems, entanglement, exchange symmetry, quantum statistics, and variable-particle-number field theory remain subsequent structural layers and are not claimed as part of the present one-particle closure.

From Primitives to the Schrödinger Equation

Allen Proxmire

The Schrödinger equation iℏ ∂ₜψ = Ĥψ, with non‑relativistic Hamiltonian Ĥ = ℏ²|p̂|²/(2m) + V(x̂), has been quantum mechanics’s central dynamical statement for nearly a century. It governs atomic spectra, molecular bonding, semiconductors, neutron interferometry, and countless other empirical settings. The question is why it has the form it does. In standard QM, the Schrödinger equation is a postulate. The Hilbert space is given. The momentum operator p̂ = −iℏ∇ is given. The kinetic form |p̂|²/(2m) is inherited directly from classical mechanics — quantum theory simply adopts the classical T = p²/(2m) structure without deeper justification. The first‑order time derivative is chosen because empirically it works. Each piece is accepted because the resulting equation matches experiment. This walkthrough shows how the Event Density framework derives the Schrödinger equation, in its full standard form, from a smaller set of structural commitments about what reality is made of at the substrate level. Every element — the Hilbert space, the momentum operator, linearity, first‑order time structure, the kinetic‑plus‑potential form, the factor of 1/(2m) — emerges as a forced consequence rather than a separate postulate. The derivation runs through Stone’s theorem applied twice — once on spatial translation (forcing p̂ = −iℏ∇) and once on time translation (forcing existence and uniqueness of a self‑adjoint generator with automatic linearity and first‑order structure) — closed by Galilean Lie algebra integration that identifies the time‑translation generator with the kinetic‑plus‑potential operator. The factor of 1/(2m) emerges as the chain‑rule Jacobian of the Galilean commutator [Ĥ, K̂ᵢ] = −iℏ p̂ᵢ, not as a borrowing from classical mechanics. The first‑order time derivative is a consequence of operator exponentials, not a chosen feature.
