The sudden demand rises in security made researchers come up with solutions that provide instantaneous safety better than the state of the art solutions. The quest for securing data began in the Spartan era. People are now looking to expand this field of research by attacking the existing paradigms and inventing new algorithms that prove to be better than their vulnerable counterparts. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are very much prevailing due to their sleek design and flexible mobility in many sectors such as agriculture, army, healthcare, monitoring and surveillance, and many more. We discuss the growth and demand of drone technology along with its importance in this article. The paper also throws some light on the ongoing security issues in real-time scenarios and the role of quantum cryptography in securing the information over the traditional solutions. Motivated by this, we present a survey on quantum cryptography’s importance, role, and benefits in securing UAV communications underlying beyond 5G networks. A novel quantum cryptography-based layered architectural solution is also proposed to achieve high data security and efficient transmission. This paper also present a case study on the battlefield application on the Internet of military things. The performance of the proposed case study system is evaluated by considering the latency, security, and reliability.
The advent of drones has significantly impacted military warfare, providing improved reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA), cost savings, increased convenience, safety, and flexibility. A layered network control architecture, known as the internet of drones (IoD), coordinates drone access to controlled airspace and offers navigation services. Various systems, including wireless sensor networks (WSN) and drones directed to an expanded controlling zone, integrate with IoD to improve connection performance. This paper provides an overview of the IoD and the internet of quantum drones (IoQD), highlighting key issues and potential solutions in applications and deployment. The IoQD provides primary features such as secure message exchange, fast communication processes, the viability of creating and deploying private IoQD, and enabling a new field of application, quantum well (QW). In conclusion, the advent of drone technology has significantly improved various aspects of military operations, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition. The IoQD offers a promising solution for military networks, facilitating the safe and expedited transfer of data, ultimately benefiting the entire military network.
Because of the abrupt increase in demand for security, researchers have developed immediate safety solutions that outperform state-of-the-art solutions. Data security was first sought for during the Spartan period. These days, efforts are being made to broaden this area of study by challenging the status quo and creating novel algorithms that outperform their weaker predecessors. Unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, are widely used in a variety of industries, including agriculture, the military, healthcare, monitoring and surveillance, and many more, because of their svelte designs and adaptable mobility. In this post, we go over the significance of drone technology as well as its growth and demand. The study also discusses the current state of security concerns in real-time settings and how quantum cryptography outperforms conventional methods in protecting data. This inspires us to offer an overview of quantum cryptography's significance, function, and advantages in protecting UAV communications that go beyond 5G networks. Additionally, a unique layered architectural approach based on quantum cryptography is suggested to ensure excellent data security and effective transmission. A case study on the Internet of Military Things' implementation in the battlefield is also included in this presentation. The latency, security, and dependability of the suggested case study system are taken into account while assessing its performance.
Quantum and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are driving transformative advancements across various industries, and their integration into drone communications presents promising opportunities for enhancing drone capabilities. This abstract explores the potential of leveraging quantum communication principles in IoT-based drone systems to address key challenges, such as security, data processing, and long range connectivity. The conventional communication methods employed in drones often suffer from vulnerabilities, hindering the secure transmission of sensitive data. Quantum communication, with its inherent security features based on quantum key distribution and entanglement, offers a new paradigm for ensuring data integrity and confidentiality during drone operations. Furthermore, the exponential growth of IoT devices in drones generates massive amounts of data that require efficient processing and analysis. Quantum computing, with its immense computational power, has the potential to accelerate data processing in drone-based IoT applications, enabling real-time decision-making and resource optimization. Moreover, quantum-enhanced long-range communication can significantly extend the reach of drone networks, enabling seamless connectivity even in remote or challenging environments. Leveraging quantum entanglement for long-distance communication may enable efficient data exchange between drones and ground stations, leading to enhanced situational awareness and collaboration among drone fleets. Despite the promising prospects, several technical challenges need to be addressed in realizing quantum enabled IoT communications in drones. These include integrating quantum communication modules into drone platforms, developing robust quantum algorithms for IoT data processing, and addressing issues related to quantum channel noise and coherence
The intersection of quantum technologies with the Internet of Military Defense Things (IoMDT) represents a transformative step in modern warfare and defense strategies. This paper explores the transformative potential of quantum-enabled IoMDT in next-generation 6G network infrastructures, focusing on applications at different levels of military communication and decision-making systems. We explore key areas such as quantum-accelerated data processing for real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, quantum-assisted AI for autonomous decision making, and advanced quantum cryptographic methods to ensure secure and tamper-proof communications. The role of quantum computing in strengthening tactical infrastructure, including secure communications networks, optimising resource allocation and advanced command and control (C2) systems, and addressing significant operational challenges, including environmental sensitivity, integration with existing military systems, scalability, and the need for cost-effective quantum hardware solutions is also explored. Through case studies and detailed analysis, we provide insights into real-world implementations and outline the future directions required to fully realize the potential of quantum technologies in military IoT applications.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have gone from single platforms that were remotely piloted to fully networked, autonomous cyber-physical systems that operate in the civilian, industrial and defense arenas. Their increasing reliance on wireless communication for command and control, cooperative sensing, distributed decision-making and swarm coordination has raised the level of communication security to the point where it has become a mission-critical requirement. Contemporary UAV security architectures are much based on classical public-key–based cryptography (RSA and elliptic are the most well-known) whose security assumptions become fundamentally vulnerable against the presence of large-scale quantum computing. This chapter gives a comprehensive and future-oriented discussion about post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based security models for UAVs communication and information exchange networks. Quantum resistance should be applied not only at the algorithmic level but across the whole UAV communications trust stack, which is the main argument. Part I set the conceptual and technical ground by affecting a short range of the improvement of UAV communication systems, in articulating a system quantum-era threat model and giving a motivation for mission-adaptive, cross-layer security architectures. The discussion makes the long-term confidentiality, survivability of the system and continuing operation more robust, and the security of UAV with PQC enabled is no longer speculative, but is considered a strategic requirement.
