Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) secure transmission systems, where a base station (BS) uses superposition coding to transmit information to users in the presence of multiple colluding eavesdroppers. To improve the information security, we propose a movable antenna (MA) and active beamforming (AB) assisted NOMA (MAABaN) secure transmission scheme, in which the BS is equipped with multiple MAs to enhance the physical layer security (PLS). To this end, we formulate a sum secrecy rate maximization optimization problem by jointly optimizing the AB vectors and the MA positions. To solve the complex non-convex problem, we employ the alternating optimization method to transform the original problem into two subproblems. Regarding the subproblem of MA positions, we analyze the coupling relationship between the position variables, and optimize one set of position variables while keeping others fixed. Then, we propose a low-complexity iterative algorithm for the MA positions based on multi-start gradient ascent (MSGA), and construct a joint optimization framework of MA and AB. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed MAABaN scheme can effectively enhance PLS performance, and the proposed MSGA-based algorithm can also be applied to MA-assisted NOMA secure transmission systems.

Secure MIMO Communication Relying on Movable Antennas

Jun Tang, Cunhua Pan, Yang Zhang +2 more

This paper considers a movable antenna (MA)-aided secure multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system consisting of a base station (BS), a legitimate information receiver (IR) and an eavesdropper (Eve), where the BS is equipped with MAs to enhance the system’s physical layer security (PLS). Specifically, we aim to maximize the secrecy rate (SR) by jointly optimizing the transmit precoding (TPC) matrix, the artificial noise (AN) covariance matrix and the MAs’ positions under the constraints of the maximum transmit power and the minimum spacing between MAs. To solve this non-convex problem with highly coupled optimization variables, the block coordinate descent (BCD) method is applied to alternately update the variables. Specifically, we first reformulate the SR into a tractable form, and derive the optimal TPC matrix and the AN covariance matrix with fixed MAs’ positions by applying the Lagrangian multiplier method in semi-closed forms. Then, the majorization-minimization (MM) algorithm is employed to iteratively optimize each MA’s position while keeping others fixed. We also extend this work to the more general multicast scenario. Finally, simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and the significant advantages of the MAs over conventional fixed position antennas (FPAs) in enhancing system’s security.

Enabling Secure Wireless Communications via Movable Antennas

Zhenqiao Cheng, Nanxi Li, Jianchi Zhu +3 more

A pioneering secure transmission scheme is proposed, which harnesses movable antennas (MAs) to optimize antenna positions for augmenting the physical layer security. Particularly, an MA-enabled secure wireless system is considered, where a multi-antenna transmitter communicates with a single-antenna receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. The beamformer and antenna positions at the transmitter are jointly optimized under two criteria: power consumption minimization and secrecy rate maximization. For each scenario, a novel suboptimal algorithm was proposed to tackle the resulting nonconvex optimization problem, capitalizing on the approaches of alternating optimization and gradient descent. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed MA systems significantly improve physical layer security compared to various benchmark schemes relying on conventional fixed-position antennas (FPAs).

Movable Antenna Aided Physical Layer Security with No Eavesdropper CSI

Zhenqiao Cheng, Chongjun Ouyang, Xingqi Zhang

A novel movable antenna (MA)-aided secure transmission framework is proposed to enhance the secrecy transmission rate without relying on the eavesdropper’s channel state information. Within this framework, a joint beamforming and jamming scheme is proposed, where the power of the confidential signal is minimized by optimizing the positions of the MAs, and the residual power is used to jam the eavesdropper. An efficient gradient-based method is employed to solve this non-convex problem. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the MA-based framework over systems using traditional fixed-position antennas in secure transmission.

Movable Antennas-Assisted Secure Transmission for Cooperative Wireless Communication

Zhihui Shang, Tao Zhang, Ruoyu Zhang +3 more

Wireless communication is vulnerable to deep fading and eavesdropping, especially in long-distance double-hop scenarios. To address these issues, this paper proposes the movable antenna (MA-assisted secure transmission scheme. This scheme is designed for a cooperative wireless communication system in the presence of multiple single-antenna eavesdroppers. Our objective is to maximize the achievable secrecy rate, by jointly optimizing the transmit beamforming and antenna positions vectors. To solve the highly non-convex problem due to the strongly coupled variables, the alternating optimization and projected gradient ascent (PGA) methods are designed to the joint update of MA position and beamforming. Furthermore, an artificial noise (AN) interference signal is introduced. Specifically, the legitimate link actively transmits jamming noise to eavesdroppers during signal transmission, thereby enhancing the channel capacity of the secure communication system. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed MA-assisted secure transmission for the cooperative wireless communication system significantly outperforms conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA)-assisted systems by up to 70% and existing benchmarks in terms of secrecy rate.

Movable Antenna Empowered PLS With Eve’s Location Uncertainty: Joint Optimization of Beamforming and Antenna Positions

Zhiyong Feng, Yujia Zhao, Kan Yu +1 more

Physical layer security (PLS) technology based on the fixed-position antenna (FPA) has attracted widespread attention. Due to the fixed feature of the antennas, current FPA-based PLS schemes cannot fully utilize the spatial degree of freedom, and thus a weaken secure gain in the desired/undesired direction may exist. Different from the concept of FPA, movable antenna (MA) is a novel technology that reconfigures the wireless channels and enhances the corresponding capacity through the flexible movement of antennas on a minor scale. MA-empowered PLS enjoys huge potential and deserves further investigation. In this paper, for the first time, we investigate the secrecy performance of MA-enabled PLS system where a MA-based base station (BS) transmits the confidential information to multiple single-antenna Bobs, in the presence of the single-antenna eavesdropper (Eve) with no location information, by jointly optimizing the beamforming and antenna positions at the BS. Furthermore, the non-convex optimization problem can be solved via the methods of projected gradient ascent and alternating optimization. Also, and simulated annealing is adopted to find a high-quality feasible solution. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and correctness of the proposed method. In particular, MA-enabled PLS scheme can significantly enhance the secrecy rate compared to the conventional FPA-based ones for different settings of key system parameters.

Joint Precoding Optimization for Secure Transmission in Downlink MISO-NOMA Networks

Dongdong Li, Nan Zhao, Yunfei Chen +3 more

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a prospective technology for radio resource constrained future mobile networks. However, NOMA users far from base station (BS) tend to be more susceptible to eavesdropping because they are allocated more transmit power. In this paper, we aim to jointly optimize the precoding vectors at BS to ensure the legitimate security in a downlink multiple-input single-output (MISO) NOMA network. In the proposed scheme, we can maximize the sum secrecy rate by joint precoding optimization. Owing to its non-convexity, the problem is converted into a convex one, which is solved by a second-order cone programming based iterative algorithm. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate that the proposed schemes can improve the security performance for MISO NOMA systems effectively.
