THE EXACT SOLUTION OF ONE-DIMENSIONAL SPIN MODELS WITH THE MARKOV PROPERTY

Abstract

For one-dimensional spin and pseudospin models that can be mapped to a Markov chain, the free energy of the system at finite temperature can be expressed as a function of bond concentrations. By minimizing the free energy, we can obtain an exact solution for the statistical model. As examples, we consider the one-dimensional Potts model and the dilute Ising chain with interacting impurities.

Exact Solution for One-Dimensional Spin Models with Markov Property

Yu. D. Panov

Abstract For one-dimensional spin and pseudospin models that allow mapping to a Markov chain, the free energy of the system at a finite temperature can be expressed in terms of bond concentrations. Minimizing the free energy function makes it possible to obtain an exact solution of a statistical model. A dilute Ising chain with interacting impurities is considered as an example.

Free energy, entropy, and magnetization of a one-dimensional Ising model of a diluted magnet

S. V. Semkin, Виктор Павлович Смагин

We consider a one-dimensional Ising model (chain) with the the nearest-neighbor interaction and with a random nonmagnetic dilution. We find the exact free energy of such a chain as a function of the impurity concentration, temperature, and the external magnetic field. In the case of antiferromagnetic interaction in the chain, we find the specific magnetization, the mean value of the product of neighboring spins, and the entropy as functions of these parameters. We study the residual system entropy.

Exact Thermal Properties of Integrable Spin Chains

Michał Białończyk, Fernando J. Gómez-Ruiz, Adolfo del Campo

An exact description of integrable spin chains at finite temperature is provided using an elementary algebraic approach in the complete Hilbert space of the system. We focus on spin chain models that admit a description in terms of free fermions, including paradigmatic examples such as the one-dimensional transverse-field quantum Ising and XY models. The exact partition function is derived and compared with the ubiquitous approximation in which only the positive parity sector of the energy spectrum is considered. Errors stemming from this approximation are identified in the neighborhood of the critical point at low temperatures. We further provide the full counting statistics of an arbitrary observable at thermal equilibrium and characterize in detail the thermal distribution of the kink number and transverse magnetization in the transverse-field quantum Ising chain.

Dilute Ising chains with spin S

M. F. Thomsen, Michael F. Thorpe

Randomly diluted one-dimensional Ising chains of spin S are studied by breaking the systems down to noninteracting finite segments. Exact closed-form expressions are obtained for the specific heat and perpendicular susceptibility of S= 1 / 2 chains and numerically exact results are given for spins up to 5 / 2 .
