Abstract

Nonlinear frequency generation, which involves the creation of new frequency components through nonlinear interactions between light waves within nonlinear optical media, holds significant relevance in various fields including laser physics, optical communications, and optical sensing. Similar to sum frequency generation, the sum sideband generation is discussed in this work. The cavity magnomechanical system is driven by the microwave pumping field (strong control field), the sum sideband can be induced under the drive of two probe fields by utilizing the nonlinear magnon-phonon interaction, namely the magnetostrictive effect. And, the efficiency of sum sideband generation can be enhanced by increasing the power of the control field. Furthermore, the sum sideband can be induced to generate under different matching conditions by adjusting the detuning between the two probe fields and the control field. These results are contribute to the understanding of the nonlinear magnon-phonon interaction, and hold potential applications in quantum precision measurement.

Dissipation-induced nonreciprocal second-order sideband generation in cavity magnonics

Xiao-Hu Lu, Bao Wang, Hao Xiong

Dissipative coupling generally results in complex effective spin–photon interactions, which have significant applications in nonreciprocal transport and enhanced sensing technologies. In this paper, we consider the cooperative effect of coherent and dissipative magnon–photon couplings in an open cavity magnonical system. By enhancing the magnon Kerr nonlinearity with an additional microwave driving field, magnon-induced nonlinear phenomena such as bistability and second-order sideband generation (SSG) can be obtained. By continuously adjusting the ratio of dissipative to coherent coupling strengths, nonreciprocal SSG is observed near the zero-damping condition. Furthermore, the results show that the isolation ratio (the efficiency of the nonreciprocal SSG) can reach up to 82 dB. In addition, increasing the power of the microwave driving field broadens the control range of the dissipative coupling strength, within which the isolation ratio remains above 10 dB. These findings have potential implications for high-precision measurement and on-chip manipulation of light propagation.

Sum sideband effect in hybrid optomechanical system with two-level atom ensemble

Qinghong LIAO, Zhian TANG, Ao Jiawen

Cavity optomechanics, as a cross-discipline between nanophotonics and quantum mechanics, provides a unique platform for investigating optomechanical coupling between photons in microcavities and phonons from mechanical modes. It has a wide range of potential applications in quantum physics, and now it has become a hot topic. A theoretical scheme to enhance the sum sideband generation (SSG) via a two-level atom ensemble is proposed. The effect of the atomic ensemble’s detuning frequency on the efficiency of the SSG is considered by introducing a two-level atom medium. The results indicate that the efficiency of the generating sideband can be significantly enhanced under either red or blue detuning of the atoms, with greater dependence and more pronounced enhancement under the red detuning. In addition, we also consider the effect of pump power, which can effectively enhance the intensity of the output signal by selecting the appropriate pump power. More interestingly, the sensitivity of SSG to atomic detuning also indicates that the precise control of the atomic detuning frequency can achieve the fine-tuning of the SSG process. Furthermore, the cavity-atom coupling strength and atom decay rate are discussed for the transmission characteristics of the sum sideband signals. It is found that the efficiency of SSG can be effectively adjusted by the cavity-atom coupling strength and atom decay rate. The results show that the efficiency of SSG can be significantly improved by optimizing system parameters. The method of enhancing SSG may have potential application prospects in measuring high-precision weak forces and on-chip manipulation of light propagation.

Magnon-squeezing-enhanced slow light and second-order sideband in cavity magnomechanics

Tian-Xiang Lu, Xing Mao Xiao, Liu-Sha Chen +2 more

Cavity magnomechanics (CMM) has rapidly become a new research field of cavity quantum electrodynamics for studying quantum information processing and sensing. Here, we theoretically study the magnomechanically induced transparency effect in a cavity magnomechanical system, focusing on the role of magnon squeezing in enhancing and controlling the group delay of the transmitted light. As a result, we find that the magnon number can be strongly affected by magnon squeezing, accompanied by a steerable transmission rate and controllable fast-to-slow light switching. In particular, in the photon-magnon strong-coupling scenario, the group delay of the probe field can be enhanced by about three times by using magnon squeezing compared to the case without magnon squeezing. Moreover, due to the presence of magnon squeezing, the efficiency of the second-order sideband in the photon-magnon weak-coupling scenario can also be enhanced compared to the case without magnon squeezing. These results provide tools to engineer CMM devices with magnon squeezing for, e.g., light propagation and storage, and precision measurements of weak signals.

Entanglement between microwave fields and squeezing of the optical output field in an opto-magnomechanical ring cavity

Jinhao Jia, Juan Huang, Fengxuan Zhang +1 more

We propose a scheme to generate entanglement between microwave fields and achieve strong squeezing of the optical output field in an opto-magnomechanical ring cavity. The system consists of two elastic yttrium iron garnet crystals with attached mirror pads inside two separate microwave cavities, and an extra fixed mirror outside the microwave cavities is utilized to complete the optical ring cavity with the two mirror pads. A magnon mode supported by the yttrium iron garnet crystal couples directly to the microwave cavity mode via magnetic dipole interaction and couples indirectly to the optical cavity mode via magnomechanical displacement, which is caused by magnetostrictive interaction and also couples the magnon mode to a phonon mode. A squeezed light is fed into the ring cavity to entangle the two phonon modes. To activate the beam splitter interaction, each magnon mode and optical cavity mode is driven by a strong red-detuned driving field. Consequently, the stationary entanglement between the two microwave cavities is obtained. The transfer efficiency of the entanglement is [Formula: see text]. To ensure the squeezing of the magnon mode generated by magnetostrictive interaction transferred into the optical field, we remove two microwave cavities. The squeezing of the optical output field can reach up to [Formula: see text] dB at 10 mK and survives up to an environmental temperature about 500 mK. Our scheme may find various useful applications in quantum wireless fidelity network and the enhancement of sensitivity of measurements.

Two-color second-order sideband generation via magnon Kerr nonlinearity in a cavity magnonical system

Yilou Liu, Ling Li, Tao Shui +3 more

We investigate the enhanced generation of the optical second-order sideband (OSS) via magnon Kerr nonlinearity from a cavity magnonical hybrid system consisting of a single small yttrium iron garnet (YIG) crystal sphere and a three-dimensional (3D) rectangular cavity driven with a weak probe and a strong control field. Beyond the linear approximation, we solve the nonlinear Heisenberg–Langevin equations for achieving the analytical solutions by employing the perturbation technique. Using the experimentally achievable parameter settings, we demonstrate that the OSS generation can be significantly enhanced via increasing the magnon Kerr nonlinearity even if the coupling between the cavity and magnon is weak. Interestingly, two-color OSS generation can be observed when the cavity-magnon coupling is in the strong-coupling regime, which results from the magnonical polaritons induced by the hybrid of cavity and magnon modes. The present results illustrate the potential to utilize magnon Kerr nonlinearity for enhancing optical higher-order sidebands and controlling optical frequency combs, as well as to guide the design of experimental implementation.

Generating squeezing and enhancing entanglement in an opto-magnomechanical system via pump modulation

Qi Guo, Jinglan Liu, Cheng‐Hua Bai +3 more

We propose schemes for generating quantum squeezing and enhancing entanglement in an opto-magnomechanical configuration by periodically modulating the driving field. The system consists of an optical cavity and a ferrimagnetic yttrium-iron-garnet micro-bridge supporting a magnon mode and a mechanical vibration mode, in which the mechanical mode couples to the optical mode and the magnon mode via radiation pressure and magnetostrictive interaction, respectively. The optical mode and the magnon mode are driven by classical fields, and the amplitude of the laser field driving the optical cavity is periodically modulated. We find that when the classical fields are red-detuned and their anti-Stokes sidebands scattered by the mechanical motion resonate with the corresponding driven modes, all the modes in the system will be squeezed simultaneously, and the mechanical squeezing can exceed the 3-dB limit. Furthermore, when the driving laser field is red-detuned and the microwave field is blue-detuned, both the bipartite and tripartite entanglements will be generated, and compared to the case without periodical modulation, the entanglements are significantly enhanced. We also show that the schemes have strong robustness against the system dissipations and environmental temperature. Our schemes may provide efficient quantum resources for quantum precision measurement and quantum information processing.
