The Quantum Advantage in Cognitive Decision Support

Sushamana Sharma

The fast developments in the field of quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence are transforming the field of secure decision support systems. As the world is becoming more and more dependent on the use of intelligent computing, the conventional security mechanisms are no longer sufficient to counter the emerging threats. Quantum mechanics provides game changers in improving security, especially by quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution, as well as post-quantum cryptography methods that aid in changing a quantum-resistant security model. The chapter discusses the role of quantum mechanics integration with the cognitive and intelligent decision support systems on the potential to change the data security, cryptographic protocols, and computational paradigms. It considers the state of research underway in the area of quantum security and quantum-resistant encryption, and how they have been used in decision support. Moreover, it examines the future of quantum-aided cybersecurity, including the contribution of quantum machine learning to handle big data within a shorter time, quantum random number generation to make security systems more unpredictable, and entanglement-based secure communication. The practical issues that are faced, such as hardware constraints, scalability, and integration into classical systems, are also tackled in the chapter. The intelligent decision support system based on quantum mechanics can deliver unprecedented levels of security, efficiency, and reliability, which is provided with a high level of robust protection in the era of quantum computing developments.

Post-Quantum Cybersecurity

Dr P Prasant

Post-Quantum Cybersecurity focuses on developing advanced security mechanisms capable of protecting digital systems against emerging threats posed by quantum computing. Conventional cryptographic algorithms, including RSA and elliptic curve cryptography, face potential vulnerabilities from powerful quantum computers. This field explores post-quantum cryptography, quantum-resistant encryption, secure key exchange, digital signatures, and advanced authentication mechanisms to strengthen data confidentiality, integrity, and privacy. It also examines the integration of quantum-resistant algorithms into cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, financial systems, and critical infrastructure. Research in post-quantum cybersecurity supports secure communication, long-term data protection, regulatory compliance, and resilient digital infrastructures in the quantum era.
