Abstract

We present a novel, quantum interferometric method of measuring high-dimensional unitary transformations. In contrast to existing methods, the proposed method does not require detecting the qudit on which the unitary transformation is performed.

Characterizing a high-dimensional unitary transformation without measuring the qudit it transforms

Salini Rajeev, Mayukh Lahiri

We present a method for reconstructing an arbitrary high-dimensional unitary transformation without detecting the qudit that it transforms. We demonstrate the method using orbital angular momentum states of light. Our method relies on quantum interference enabled by the path identity of undetected photons. The method is practically useful when suitable detectors are not available for the qudit on which the unitary transformation works.

High-dimensional quantum process tomography with undetected photons

Salini Rajeev, Mayukh Lahiri

The goal of quantum process tomography is to fully characterize an operation performed on a quantum state. By considering high-dimensional quantum states (qudit), we show that it is possible to fully reconstruct an arbitrary operation without performing any measurement on the transformed qudit. Our method is interferometric and conceptually different from existing techniques of quantum process tomography that must perform a measurement on the transformed qudit.

Quantum State Tomography of Two-Qubit Photonic States with Undetected Photons

Salini Rajeev, Mayukh Lahiri

We present a novel, quantum interferometric method of performing quantum state tomography of two-qubit photonic mixed states. The method does not require detecting one of the photons and therefore allows covering of wider spectral ranges.

We present an interferometric quantum phase imaging technique that (1) does not detect the photons interacting with the object and (2) applies when standard interferometry-based phase imaging schemes fail due to uncontrollable, random phase fluctuations.

Measurement of two-qubit mixed states without detecting one of the qubits

Salini Rajeev, Mayukh Lahiri

We propose an interferometric technique to perform complete measurement of any two-photon mixed state without detecting one of the photons. The method requires no post-selection and no coincidence or equivalent joint-detection measurements.

We present a novel, quantum interferometric method of measuring entanglement of a family of two-photon mixed states that are obtained by generalizing Werner states. The method does not require detecting one of the photons.
