Towards a dual ontology of reality: a three-level ontological framework

Abstract

This paper proposes a three-level ontological framework in which the arrow of time emerges from a pre-temporal layer of quantum processes. At the fundamental level, reality is described as a space of correlations and processes without intrinsic temporal orientation. A regime of projection and stabilization—analogous to a supermap—selects a restricted class of operational descriptions, inducing an effective arrow of time through coarse-graining and decoherence. At the emergent level, this stabilized framework gives rise to the classical-relativistic world, including lived temporality and phenomenal consciousness. The approach is discussed in light of recent experiments on controlled temporal frames and process-matrix formalisms.

Hypothesis of Temporal Self-Organization in Quantum Matter: Toward Quantum Monism

Sepiashvili, David

This work proposes that time is not a fundamental cause but an emergent consequence of matter’s self-organization. At the deepest level, matter and spacetime possess complete temporal symmetry, allowing bidirectional time. As matter becomes increasingly complex — from particles to macroscopic structures and living systems — this symmetry progressively breaks. The breaking of temporal symmetry gives rise to irreversibility, memory, decoherence, the arrow of time, and the emergence of classical reality. Within this framework, classical matter represents only a tiny, chiral, asymmetrical fraction of a deeper racemic quantum domain existing in dual time. The visible universe arises as a projection — a “shadow” — of this temporally symmetric metastructure. From this perspective, relativity may be interpreted as a special, effectively classical case of quantum mechanics, emerging from higher-order organizational processes. Temporal self-organization thus provides a unified conceptual pathway linking quantum mechanics, relativity, matter–antimatter asymmetry, and the cosmological constant. Although this work does not claim to provide a complete unified theory, it offers a conceptual reorientation: a shift that replaces numerous disconnected explanatory “epicycles” with a simpler underlying principle based on temporal self-organization.Within this perspective, several seemingly independent phenomena — including the arrow of time, matter–antimatter asymmetry, decoherence, and the small positive cosmological constant — may be understood as different manifestations of a single fundamental process: the breaking of an underlying bidirectional temporal symmetry.

After the Dimensionless Source: A Research Program for Emergent Time, Structure, and Law in Existential Realism

Tenzin Trepp

This paper develops an extension of Existential Realism, a philosophical framework that distinguishes existence (what concretely is in the present moment) from reality (the broader causal–structural domain that includes past events, causal relations, informational traces, and structured future possibilities that are real but not presently existent). We synthesize core ideas from the original Existential Realism framework—ontological emergence, entanglement, temporal asymmetry, dimensional collapse, and the notion of a “dimensionless source”—and push them into new conceptual terrain. Time is placed at the heart of ontology: the present moment is the locus of existence, continually generating new actuality from prior reality. Past and future are real (with causal efficacy and structure) yet lack present existence. We explore how this two-tiered temporal ontology can accommodate key features of modern physics and metaphysics. In particular, we argue that ontological emergence at each moment provides a genuine arrow of time and a solution to the puzzle of how determinate events arise from an indeterminate backdrop. Quantum entanglement and nonlocal correlations, far from undermining a temporally oriented realism, instead hint at a deeper layer of unity “beneath” spacetime—a layer we articulate as a dimensionless source of reality. The dimensionless source is defined as a non-spatiotemporal relational structure encoding the informational constraints under which spatiotemporal events emerge through sequential actualization. It contains the informational constraints and lawful relations governing the generation of successive present states of the universe. We propose that spacetime and its separations emerge from this atemporal, aspatial ground, such that phenomena like entanglement and wavefunction collapse reveal the traces of a more fundamental order where spatial distance and temporal succession are secondary. Throughout, we connect these ideas to contemporary debates in quantum foundations (e.g. the measurement problem and objective collapse theories), philosophy of time (presentism, eternalism, and the reality of becoming), and speculative metaphysics (structural realism and process ontology). The result is a comprehensive, present-centered realist ontology that aims to reconcile the lived reality of time’s flow with the insights of modern physics, suggesting new avenues for understanding causality, identity, and agency in a dynamic universe.

ZIP Framework: From Pre-Informational Reality to Time, Quantum Coherence, and Cosmology

Jakub Slahounek

This trilogy introduces the ZIP framework as an ontological reinterpretation of time, coherence, and cosmological structure. Rather than proposing new physical laws, the framework reexamines the meaning of established formalisms in general relativity, quantum mechanics, and cosmology. The first paper reinterprets gravitational time dilation as a consequence of constrained state change governed by ZIP density, demonstrating full compatibility with relativistic effects observed in satellite-based systems. The second paper extends this interpretation to quantum systems, proposing coherence capacity as the key factor underlying decoherence, measurement, and the emergence of probabilistic outcomes without invoking fundamental time. The third paper addresses cosmology by introducing a pre-informational ontological layer, referred to as consciousness, from which a Fundamental Informational Field (FIF) emerges through self-coherence. The universe is described as a structured region arising from a transitional boundary between pre-informational reality and informational order, offering a consistent account of entropy growth, the arrow of time, and classical structure formation. Together, the trilogy presents a unified conceptual framework in which time, information, and physical structure emerge from deeper ontological constraints, while remaining fully consistent with established experimental and theoretical physics.

Toward a Non-Dual Operator-Informational Ontology: Consciousness, Holography, and the Dynamics of Integrated Trajectories

Sequeira, Juan

The article proposes a non-dual informational ontology to dissolve the “hard problem” of consciousness. It argues that modern physics (quantum field theory, holography, and emergent gravity) undermines classical materialism, showing that reality is not made of local substances with intrinsic properties but of relational and informational structures. Within this framework, essential operators generate integrated trajectories whose intrinsic aspect is phenomenality (consciousness) and whose extrinsic aspect, under holographic projection, appears as physical dynamics. Thus, mind and matter are not separate substances or universal properties but two aspects of the same informational process. The model avoids reductionism, dualism, and panpsychism, while offering falsifiability criteria: it would be refuted if fundamental information loss, restored locality, or primitive materialism were demonstrated. This approach presents a coherent, scientifically compatible alternative for unifying consciousness and physics.

Quantum Entanglement Resolved Unity in Existential Time, Separation in Cosmic Space

Chabane Dahli

This paper proposes an ontological framework that resolves the apparent paradox of quantum entanglement without invoking faster-than-light signaling or violating the principle of locality in special relativity. The solution rests on a strict ontological separation between two levels of reality: (1) an existential level governed by a single, absolute, non-spatial existential time τ, where quantum information resides in unified superposed states; and (2) a cosmic level consisting of ordinary relativistic spacetime, where material systems are spatially separated and causality is preserved. Under this framework, entanglement represents a dual-layer phenomenon: existential–informational unity at the level of being, combined with cosmic–material separation at the level of appearance. Quantum correlations are thus explained not as superluminal influence, but as the manifestation in spacetime of a pre-unified informational structure in existential time. The framework preserves all mathematical formalism of standard quantum mechanics, remains fully consistent with special and general relativity, and offers a deep ontological grounding for the foundations of quantum theory
