Abstract

This article examines how we can interpret, or understand, the most counterintuitive elements of Quantum Physics such as complementarity, entanglement, superposition, nonlocality, wave packet reduction, etc., using concrete concepts about particles (standing waves) and Superfluid (granular) Space-Time, which we have studied.

Interpretive principles and the quantum mysteries

Allen C. Dotson

Much has been written in recent years about the strange features associated with the quantum-mechanical description of nature at the atomic level. Physics teachers should help their students to see that many of these mysterious features are direct results of interpretive principles added to the basic theory of quantum mechanics, and that therefore they may or may not reflect the best possible understanding we can achieve of how nature works at that level. This paper discusses three such principles and their connection to well-known quantum mysteries. The practical significance of distinguishing between quantum mechanics itself and these principles is that it remains possible that other explanatory ideas may be found which lead to less mysterious consequences.

走出百年梦幻,告别量子力学 Out of a Century-Old Dream: Farewell to Quantum Mechanics

王江祁

For a century, quantum mechanics has been hailed as both the most profound revolution in physics and the ultimate failure of human reason. Wave-particle duality, superposition, collapse, the uncertainty principle, quantum entanglement—these concepts have been enshrined as fundamental laws of the microscopic world, yet no one has ever truly understood them. Feynman said, "Nobody understands quantum mechanics." Dirac said, "Shut up and calculate." Where does this century-old dream come from? Not from any mystery inherent in the world, but from wearing the wrong lens. We tried to understand waves using the concept of "particles." A wave spreading through space was described as "a particle being in many places at once." A traveling wave forming a standing wave at a boundary was described as "a particle suddenly collapsing." Quantum entanglement was described as "spooky action at a distance between particles." Every mysterious concept in quantum mechanics is a distorted image—a wave's true nature seen through the funhouse mirror of the particle perspective. This series of twelve papers declares: the dream is over. There are only two things in the universe—traveling waves and standing waves. Light is a traveling wave. The electron is a photon confined as a ring-shaped standing wave. A moving electron is a standing wave carrying a traveling wave. That a wave spreads through space is its nature—not superposition. That a traveling wave forms a standing wave at a boundary is ordinary physics—not collapse. That waves obey the Fourier relation is a mathematical theorem—not the uncertainty principle. Quantum entanglement is phase memory—not nonlocal connection. Return to the world of waves, speak the language of waves, and all phantoms vanish instantly. This is not a denial of quantum mechanics. It is the disenchantment of quantum mechanics. The mathematics survives. The interpretation dies. The particle perspective ends. The era of waves begins.

Quantum Physics: From Imaginary to Reality

Isabella Taylor

Quantum physics has long occupied a space between imagination and reality, captivating scientists and philosophers with its strange, counterintuitive principles: superposition, entanglement, uncertainty, and nonlocality. What once appeared as hypothetical mathematics now manifests in real technologies—lasers, semiconductors, superconductors, atomic clocks, MRI machines, and emerging quantum computers. This mini-review traces the conceptual journey of quantum physics from an abstract theory born in early twentieth-century thought experiments to a practical framework shaping modern engineering, computation, communication, and materials science. It highlights key developments in interpretation, experimental validation, and application, while reflecting on how quantum physics reshapes our understanding of nature, reality, and information. Although quantum mechanics remains philosophically perplexing, it has become a powerful and indispensable foundation for technological innovation. By examining how imaginary constructs transitioned into concrete implementations, this article illustrates the remarkable interplay between theory and experiment that continues to redefine what is possible.

•May 9, 2022•0 citations

Introduction

F. J. Duarte

The basic mathematical–physical principles of quantum mechanics are introduced here. The philosophical path toward quantum entanglement and the physics path toward quantum entanglement are described. The properties of the photon, as a non-local physical entity, are highlighted.

Origin of Probability in Quantum Mechanics and the Physical Interpretation of the Wave Function

Shuming Wen

Abstract The theoretical results of quantum mechanics (QM) have been verified by experiments, but the probabilistic Copenhagen interpretation is still controversial, and many counterintuitive phenomena are still difficult to understand. To trace the origin of probability in QM, we construct the superimposed amplitudes of a space-time position in a multiparticle quantum objective system and find that the probability in QM originates from the particle number distribution rate in a unit volume near position r at time t in the multiparticle quantum objective system. Based on the origin of probability, We find that the state function of an elementary particle (hereinafter called particle for short) has precise physical meaning; that is, the particle periodically and alternately exhibits the particle state and wave state in time and space, obtain the localized and nonlocalized spatiotemporal range of the particle, the apparent trajectory of the particle motion. Based on this, through rigorous mathematical derivation and analysis, we propose new physical interpretations of the quantum superposition state, wave-particle duality, the double-slit experiment, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and the quantum tunnelling effect, and these interpretations are physically logical and not counterintuitive.
