From Bandage Ultralocality to an Essentially Unique Covariant Transactional Noise Kernel. Strong Markov Coarse–Graining, Padmanabhan's Zero–Point Length, and No–Signalling
We present a mathematically controlled construction of a covariant transactional noise kernel C_q(x,y) for relativistic CSL/open-system dynamics within a TUCSL/RTI programme. The aim is to eliminate the large functional freedom normally allowed by covariance and positivity. We model the fundamental “bandage” noise as an ultralocal Colombeau net C_ε associated with κ δ^(4), with ε purely technical. Physical coarse-graining is instead carried by a map K(x,y;s) required to be a strong Markov (Chapman–Kolmogorov) semigroup that is covariant, positivity preserving, normalized, and (naturally) symmetric. Imposing a minimality principle—selecting the lowest-order local covariant generator with no drift—forces K to be the q-heat kernel built from Padmanabhan’s zero-point-length deformation 2Σ_q = 2σ + L_0^2. Consequently the emergent kernel is essentially unique: C_q = κ (K_s * K_s) = κ K_{2s}, yielding quasi-local Gaussian bounds and UV regularization. Fixing conventions by letting the CSL smearing length label K gives r_c^2 = 4s and an induced correlation width √2 r_c. Finally, microcausality together with covariant Tomonaga–Schwinger evolution ensures no superluminal signalling, and the kernel freedom collapses to the finite set {κ, r_c, L_0}.

This paper develops a constructive bridge between Transactional Unimodular Continuous Spontaneous Localization (TUCSL) and Causal Set Theory (CST) in the Benincasa–Dowker / Benincasa–Dowker–Glaser (BD/BDG) setting. From the TUCSL “minimal backbone” we take (i) a uniquely selected Markov semigroup (q-heat kernel) K_s and (ii) the induced noise correlator C_q(x,y)=κ K_{2s}(x,y) with r_c^2=4s. We then show how the same correlator arises within CST when “incipient transactions” are modeled as a covariant Poisson random measure on 4-volume whose marked events are diffusion-smeared by K_s. Using Campbell’s theorem, the shot-noise construction reproduces the TUCSL correlator and yields the microscopic identification κ = k σ_m^2, where k is the event density (dimension L^-4) and σ_m^2 the mark variance. This immediately provides operational, parameter-free definitions of the effective correlation cell:V_cell(s;x) := [K_{2s}(x,x)]^{-1} = κ / C_q(x,x),so that in quasi-flat 4D one finds V_cell ≃ 4π^2 r_c^4 and k ≃ (4π^2 r_c^4)^-1. The resulting “cell counting” dovetails with unimodular closure as fixed-N sectors and supports a causal-diamond patch bookkeeping, while remaining compatible with the additive Weyl channel introduced in Paper XVI (with Weyl-sensitive effects confined to the emergent Lorentzian phase). Finally, the paper reframes the sum-over-causal-sets measure as a TUCSL prior: a diffeomorphism-invariant weighting that suppresses entropy-dominated/non-manifoldlike causets by imposing TUCSL’s semigroup/diagonal constraints (and fixed-N structure) rather than by adding new independent couplings. Concrete computations—BDG kernel diagonals, spectral-dimension flow, and cosmological closure tests—are outlined to make the TUCSL–CST synthesis falsifiable.
This deposit collects Papers I–XIII of an ongoing research programme developing a “Transactional Unimodular CSL” (TUCSL) framework: a non-perturbative approach to quantum gravity and cosmology that combines (i) a version of relativistic direct–action / transactional interpretation (RTI/QDAT) of quantum fields, (ii) Continuous Spontaneous Localization (CSL) collapse dynamics, and (iii) unimodular gravity with an emergent, fluctuating cosmological constant. We differ from standard RTI or transactional approach because we do not see classic, lorentzian spacetime as just an emerging property. The central idea is a dual ontology. We consider psi-ontic description valid in the unitary quantum regime and the classic spacetime as equally valid in the lorentzian regime. As we will see, there is a bandage region connecting the two regimes: this is where the CSL "noise" comes from. At the fundamental level there is a prespacetime Hilbert space of offer and confirmation waves; actualized transactions pick out events, which, after coarse-graining, appear as an effective Lorentzian spacetime with metric and causal structure. A single covariant noise kernel C(x,y) (or its q-metric version C_q) links the two levels: it drives CSL-type decoherence, encodes the statistics of failed transactions, and generates an intrinsic arrow of time and entropy production. The early papers construct such kernels in flat and curved spacetimes, relate their strength to standard CSL parameters, and show how Diósi–Penrose–like gravitational decoherence, unimodular Λ-fluctuations and an effective dark-energy component arise from the same noise sector. The q-metric / zero-point-length geometry of Padmanabhan and Kothawala is used to implement a minimal area and a discrete four-volume structure, tying TUCSL to causal-set ideas and generalized quantum mechanics. Later papers apply this framework to black holes and cosmology. For black holes, the noise-modified field equations and a stochastic Raychaudhuri equation yield de Sitter–like regular cores, horizon thermodynamics and an obstruction to Penrose-type singularities compatible with QFC/QNEC-style bounds. For cosmology, a transactional “bandage region” between prespacetime and minisuperspace selects a most probable inflaton potential via two effective parameters: β, a geometric–entropic count of unimodular four-volume cells (naturally modelled by Tsallis-type entropy), and α_eff, the integrated CSL noise power constrained by information-theoretic bounds. Their competition produces a sharply peaked inflationary scale V^(1/4) ~ 10¹⁵–10¹⁶ GeV, in line with CMB data, without ad hoc tuning. Overall, Papers I–XIII offer a coherent scenario in which the arrow of time, black-hole thermodynamics, Λ-fluctuations and the inflationary scale are different faces of a single transactional CSL noise sector implemented in a unimodular setting.
Transactional Unimodular CSL Theory XVI refines the “Weyl-controlled” sector of the TUCSL programme by formulating it as an additive, Weyl-activated Lindblad channel on the emergent 3+1 Lorentzian spacetime, while keeping intact the three structural pillars fixed in Papers XIII–XV. The construction preserves (i) the essentially unique covariant noise kernel inherited from the Markov–minimal semigroup on the Euclidean q-domain, C_q(x,y)=κ K_{2s}(x,y), together with the fixed identification r_c^2=4s; (ii) the unimodular closure mechanism that absorbs only the canonical longitudinal projection of the coarse-grained conservation defect into an effective spacetime-dependent Λ(x); and (iii) the cosmological meaning of the parameters (α,β) controlling the effective Euclidean action used in tunnelling-type history selection. The Weyl sector is introduced as a second independent dissipative channel weighted by an activation map η(w) built from the local Weyl invariant w(x)=I_W(x)/I_*, constrained by rigid asymptotics η(0)=0, η(w)≈a w^2 for w≪1, and η(w)→1 for w≫1. We provide a fully covariant master equation, prove complete positivity and trace preservation, show that unimodular closure applies channel-wise, and reinterpret earlier “r_c-fragmentation” language as an operational effective coherence length extracted from one-parameter fits—without modifying the fixed kernel scale.
This deposit gathers a series of twelve technical papers developing what I call a Transactional Unimodular CSL theory: a unified framework that connects relativistic collapse models, the Relativistic Transactional Interpretation (RTI), unimodular gravity, and stochastic gravity–like noise kernels. The starting point is a direct–action / RTI–inspired picture of quantum fields, where the fundamental objects are source currents J(x) and time–symmetric propagators. On top of this, I construct a fully relativistic Continuous Spontaneous Localization (CSL) dynamics in 3+1 dimensions by deriving the collapse noise kernel directly from standard QFT correlators, instead of postulating it at the level of a phenomenological master equation. A key technical ingredient is the use of Padmanabhan’s q–metric and of a minimal zero–point length to define covariant smearing functions and noise kernels that remain of Hadamard type. This allows one to build a positive, Lorentz–invariant CSL kernel both in Minkowski spacetime and in curved backgrounds (Rindler, de Sitter), and to connect microscopic collapse dynamics with macroscopic gravitational backreaction. In the second part of the project, the CSL–induced non–conservation of the energy–momentum tensor is absorbed into an unimodular description of gravity, where fluctuations of an effective Λ(x) arise from the same transactional noise that drives collapse. This leads to a set of applications and exploratory results, including: gravity–related decoherence in a DP–like regime; stochastic corrections to the Raychaudhuri equation and a thermodynamic derivation of the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy with noisy kernels; regular “core” geometries for Schwarzschild and Kerr–Newman–like black holes, supported by the effective noise stress–energy; a possible selection mechanism for inflationary scales and de Sitter vacua driven by unimodular Λ fluctuations. The aim of this collection is not to present a final theory, but a coherent research programme, with all intermediate steps (including long derivations and side calculations) transparently documented. The PDF contains the full sequence of Papers I–XII, with a consistent notation and cross–references, so that the reader can follow the logical thread from the original 1+1–dimensional prototype up to the cosmological and black–hole applications.
We address critical "patch-susceptible" junctions in the Transactional Unimodular CSL (TUCSL) synthesis with Causal Set Theory (CST) introduced our previous papers. Four potential vulnerabilities are converted into falsifiable diagnostics: (i) the diffusion/semigroup bridge between BD/BDG causal-set dynamics and the TUCSL q-heat kernel is reformulated as explicit convergence criteria with computable error functionals E_diag(s) and spectral dimension flow d^C_s(s); (ii) the Poisson-to-Gaussian passage is proven as Theorem 4.1 via cumulant expansion, with the dimensionless control parameter χ := kV_cell tracking the high-intensity/small-mark scaling limit; (iii) the apparent freedom in event density k and transactional energy E_⋆ is eliminated by operational definitions tying k to the semigroup diagonal and bounding E_⋆ through laboratory CSL constraints; (iv) the sum-over-causal-sets measure is implemented as a microcanonical admissibility prior Ω^TUCSL_N (support restriction) rather than phenomenological weighting, avoiding new continuous couplings. We provide an explicit assumption ledger (A1–A5), a "no-hidden-knobs" parameter accounting (Table 1), and four decisive failure modes (F1–F4) that would falsify the bridge. The correlation cell volume V_cell(s;x) := [K_2s(x,x)]^(-1) emerges as the unique non-geometric operational notion linking TUCSL coarse-graining to causal-set sprinkling density. A roadmap to "hard results" specifies: numerical computation of BDG diagnostics on manifoldlike causal-set ensembles, extraction and comparison of discrete vs continuum V_cell, and propagation of experimental bounds through the Paper XIV closure formula to derive tight E_⋆ intervals.
Markovian open quantum theory assumes evolution with respect to an external classical time parameter, yet no preferred notion of time exists fundamentally in relativistic physics. We resolve this tension by formulating relativistic open quantum dynamics relationally through finite-resolution quantum clocks. Using the Schwinger-Tomonaga formalism, we derive a covariant master equation directly on spacetime hypersurfaces and show that the resulting reduced dynamics is generically non-Markovian even for local interactions. Environmental correlations and clock fluctuations jointly generate the memory kernel, while the Gorini-Kossakowski-Lindblad-Sudarshan (GKLS) structure emerges only after relational coarse-graining, implying that exact Markovian evolution is effective rather than fundamental. In the sharp-clock limit, the formalism reduces to the Anastopoulos-Hu gravitational decoherence equation.
