We derive the Born rule (Pn=∣cn∣2) as a physical consequence of gravitational decoherence, without presupposing the probability rule of quantum mechanics. Working within standard quantum mechanics (unitary evolution, Hilbert space structure), we assume only that the system couples to a gravitational vacuum with spectral density S(ω)∝ω3e−ω/ωc via a quadrupolar interaction. The derivation establishes three key results: Quadratic Scaling: The energy radiated into the gravitational bath during decoherence is proportional to the square of the amplitude (∣cn∣2), reflecting the spin-2 structure of gravitational radiation. Operational Probability: By adopting a "Gravitational Darwinism" perspective, where probability is defined by the redundancy of environmental records, we recover the Born rule as the equation of state for a system in equilibrium with a spin-2 vacuum. The Equal Coupling Theorem: We prove that pointer states of the same total mass have equal gravitational coupling strength to within 10−30, ensuring the Born rule holds with extraordinary precision for macroscopic objects due to the Equivalence Principle. Experimental Connection: This framework predicts material-dependent decoherence rates for levitated nanospheres, specifically that diamond should heat ∼500× slower than silica of equal mass. This prediction provides a falsifiable test distinguishing this gravitational mechanism from mass-intrinsic collapse models.

The Born rule, assigning probabilities via |ψ|², is traditionally introduced as an independent axiom of quantum mechanics. Despite its empirical success, its foundational origin remains unresolved. In this paper we derive the Born rule as a necessary consequence of configurational stability in a timeless, pre-metric configuration space. Physical states are described by field configurations Φ, weighted by a stability functional S[Φ]. Quantum states ψ arise as representational coordinates encoding relative stability rather than as ontological wave objects. We show that requiring: projective invariance, factorizability for independent subsystems, and classical additivity under phase degradation, uniquely selects the quadratic probability map |ψ|², without assuming Hilbert space structure, Gleason-type theorems, or temporal dynamics. Measurement is identified as a topological transition at a stability threshold Σ*, where the Hessian spectrum becomes marginally stable. This leads to a distinctive, non-analytic “kink” in decoherence behavior. Unlike stochastic collapse models, the framework predicts pure dephasing without energy injection, avoiding existing experimental heating constraints. The theory yields explicit, falsifiable experimental signatures, including structure-dependent decoherence effects in mesoscopic systems, accessible to current matter-wave interferometry and levitated nanosphere experiments. The framework is fully timeless at the fundamental level; laboratory time emerges only as an epistemic ordering parameter. This work is self-contained and does not rely on gravitational, cosmological, or dark-matter assumptions. The Born rule—that measurement probabilities equal the squared amplitude of the wavefunction—has been treated as a fundamental postulate of quantum mechanics since 1926. Every major interpretation either assumes it or struggles to derive it from other postulates. This paper derives the Born rule as the uniform-coupling limit of a physical measurement interaction within the Field Intrinsic Gravity Induced Density (FIGID) framework. A companion paper [1] established that quantum measurement is gradient-driven localization: the field density gradient of a macroscopic apparatus forces a diffuse field condensation to concentrate at the point of strongest interaction. Here we formalize this mechanism as an interaction Hamiltonian coupling the apparatus gradient profile G(x) to the system’s condensation density ρ₂(x) = |ψ(x)|². The apparatus gradient is a macroscopic, static field configuration—the system responds to it as a background potential, not as a propagating quantum exchange. This static-coupling structure, which parallels FIGID’s treatment of gravitational interactions, yields a measurement law with the transition rate linear in G. In the uniform-coupling limit—when the apparatus gradient varies negligibly across the system’s coherence length—the measurement probabilities reduce exactly to the Born rule. Deviations from Born statistics are predicted when the dimensionless parameter L₂|∇G|/G₀ approaches unity, where L₂ is the coherence length determined by the inverse-roughness law L₂ = Kₗₐₘ/Rₙ [2]. The derivation requires one structural assumption—local scalar coupling between apparatus and system—and produces the Born rule as its leading-order consequence, with quantitative correction terms that are experimentally testable.
We propose that the quantum measurement problem is a frame problem, resolved by recognizing that coherence is relative to a choice of coherence frame—analogous to the relativity of simultaneity in special relativity. We introduce coherence relativity, a geometric framework in which physical reality is described on a joint manifold M×Σ, where M is emergent spacetime and Σ is a coherence manifold whose points represent distinct observational perspectives. In this framework, wave function collapse is not a dynamical process but a transformation between coherence frames induced by measurement interactions. We present a derivation of the Born rule—that measurement probabilities equal squared amplitudes—as the unique probability measure invariant under coherence-frame relabelings and splittings, given additivity and continuity. This derivation unifies insights from Gleason's theorem, Zurek's envariance, and operational reconstruction programs within a single geometric structure. We demonstrate the framework with the double-slit experiment in two coherence frames and identify six experimentally testable signatures distinguishing Coherence Relativity from standard quantum mechanics: non-linear visibility scaling, frame-transformation hysteresis, coherence-space curvature effects, modified gravitational decoherence, measurable transformation timescales, and coherence revival. The most accessible predictions—erasure hysteresis and transformation timescales—are testable with current superconducting qubit and trapped ion platforms. v4 (April 2026): Adds three new paradox resolutions (Quantum Zeno with D_f completion interpretation, Sleeping Beauty via CR-internal derivation from axioms A1+A3, and a unifying meta-theorem characterizing all quantum paradoxes as non-Born-compliant frame transport). Introduces Prediction 7 (Zeno/anti-Zeno crossover at τ_meas ≈ τ_transform with pointer-basis dependence). Total experimentally testable signatures increased from six to seven. 21 pages.
The Born rule — P(outcome i) = |⟨i|ψ⟩|2 — is the only postulate of quantum mechanicswithout a derivation from deeper principles within the standard framework. Existingderivations (Gleason 1957, Zurek 2003, Deutsch 1999) recover the rule from assumptionsabout Hilbert space structure, symmetry, or decision theory, but none derive it from amechanical substrate. This paper derives the Born rule within the Cohesion UnifiedField Theory from two results already established in the series: (1) torsion density —the energy density of the recursion field — is quadratic in the recursion field amplitude, following from E = pr applied to a linear recursion field; and (2) a macroscopicmeasuring device responds to torsion density (energy deposited in each pointer stateconfiguration), not to field amplitude directly, because its structural time rate is slowrelative to the system’s recursion frequency and it averages over rapid field oscillations. The squared modulus in the Born rule is therefore not a postulate: it is a consequenceof wave energy being quadratic in amplitude, applied to the moment of structural timesynchronisation between system and device. The derivation is complete at the level ofwave mechanics; the remaining open problem is an explicit derivation of the recursionfield wave equation from the Cohesion UFT field equations, rather than an appeal tothe universal quadratic property of wave energy. This paper closes the primary openproblem of the quantum measurement paper and the quantum field paper of this series.

Abstract:The quantum measurement problemthe fundamental conict between the deterministic, unitary evolution described by the Schrödinger equation and the stochastic, irreversible outcomes observed in experimentshas remained unresolved since the inception of quantum mechanics nearly a century ago. Here we demonstrate that the Chrono-Singularity Unication (CSU) framework provides a complete, rst-principles resolution of all ve components of the measurement problem with zero adjustable parameters. From a minimal informational substrate ΨI characterized by three internally-calibrated constants (α = ln 2, β = ln 2, w = −1), we derive: (i) the Born rule P = |ψ| 2 as a mathematical necessity via the GNS construction and spectral theorem; (ii) the emergence of the preferred (position) basis through Dobrushin concentration bounds on redundant environmental records; (iii) single denite outcomes from the sampled-history ontology without dynamical collapse; (iv) full compatibility with special relativity through topological linking that preserves no-signaling while permitting Bell-inequality violation; and (v) unique, falsi- able experimental predictions including a mass-dependent gravitational decoherence oor testable in near-future molecular interferometry experiments. Significance:This framework provides the exact geometric scaling required to resolve the Hubble tension and derives the Diósi-Penrose gravitational decoherence floor (τ=ℏ/ΔEG) strictly as a low-energy macroscopic limit. This paper serves as the theoretical foundation for a fully deterministic, parameter-free unification of quantum mechanics and general relativity.
