This project introduces the Calahan Theory of Awareness (CTA) — a theoretical framework proposing Conscious Intelligence (CI) as the intrinsic, non-diminishing substrate of reality. The CTA establishes Aesthesis (α) as a pre-arithmetic logic of coherence, redefining physics through resonance rather than computation. This document formalizes the foundations of Qualitative Physics (QP), unifying quantum measurement, consciousness, and cosmological expansion under a single coherence-driven model. Authored by Calahan Murphy (Spectra Labs) — independent research, age 19 — this paper is presented not as definitive fact but as an open proposal for interdisciplinary exploration at the intersection of physics, philosophy, and cognitive science.

This paper proposes a "Consciousness Decoherence Model" grounded in a structured metaphor drawn from quantum decoherence theory. The model frames pre-conscious states as a superposition of multiple possible contents, and characterizes the formation of conscious awareness as a process of decoherence—triggered by internal and external "environments" (including sensory input, interoception, and attention)—that stabilizes one specific classical state into reportable awareness. Through systematic conceptual mapping and comparative analysis with Global Neuronal Workspace Theory, Integrated Information Theory, and other recent decoherence-inspired frameworks, the model unifies diverse cognitive phenomena such as creative insight, decision paralysis, and psychopathological states under a single dynamical logic.
This paper introduces the Consciousness-Structured Field Theory (CSFT), a metaphysical framework arguing that consciousness is the foundational structuring principle of reality. The theory proposes that consciousness precedes physical measurement and organizes the resonant patterns that give rise to excitations in the quantum field. Drawing on field theory, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind, the paper examines the limits of materialist explanations of qualia and offers CSFT as a coherent model for addressing the hard problem of consciousness. Although not yet empirically testable, CSFT is presented as a logically structured philosophical theory intended to guide future interdisciplinary discussion and analysis.
This is a unique text that explores quantum-like modelling frameworks that connect quantum mechanics with cognitive science and consciousness studies to propose a new ontological framework that transcends traditional boundaries between physics, philosophy, and cognitive science. The book develops along two complementary paths. First, it explores quantum-like modelling, an exciting emerging field where researchers apply logical and mathematical structures from quantum mechanics and information theory to cognitive modelling and decision science. Second, it investigates the profound links between quantum science and consciousness studies, incorporating insights from advanced mathematical frameworks such as category theory. By synthesizing these two approaches, the authors propose a novel framework termed 'quantum-like reality' that moves beyond pragmatic modelling to offer deeper ontological thinking that can enrich both foundational understanding and applied research. This will be an interesting read for students and researchers working at the intersection of quantum physics, cognitive science, and consciousness studies.
This preprint presents a formal research program at the intersection of quantum foundations, consciousness studies, information theory, thermodynamics, and philosophy of mind. Its central proposal is that consciousness may be modeled not as a passive byproduct of physical determinacy, but as a substrate dependent actualization condition under which quantum potential becomes determinate pointer record reality. The paper develops a formal framework built around a substrate dependent consciousness operator, recursive rendering dynamics, a two time architecture separating rendering order from measured physical time, and a modified Lindblad master equation containing a consciousness coupling channel. The framework also introduces a biologically constrained substrate fidelity parameter, a thermodynamic scaling bound based on Landauer cost, and an anesthesia threshold paradigm as a possible empirical entry point. The work does not claim completion of the mathematical formalism and does not present the theory as experimentally established. Instead, it defines a disciplined theoretical structure, identifies its mathematical obligations, and states the open problems that must be solved for the framework to mature into a viable physical theory. These include the eigenvalue structure of the substrate dependent operator, the formal relationship between the operator and the pointer record channel, the derivation of recursive scaling laws, and the need for empirical discrimination between substrate gated conscious actualization and ordinary neurophysical accounts of anesthesia. The purpose of this paper is to make the central claim precise enough to be challenged. If quantum mechanics supplies potentiality, environmental decoherence supplies stable pointer alternatives, and consciousness supplies actualization, then determinate physical reality may be understood as the rendered outcome of a substrate gated process. This preprint offers that claim as a formal research program for critical analysis, mathematical refinement, and future empirical testing.
This paper inaugurates the first of a three-part exploration into the Quantum Mechanics of Consciousness formulated as QT-Aware 1 , focusing on its mathematical foundations. Building upon von Neumann’s rigorous operator formalism, we reinterpret the Hilbert space framework as an informational architecture that accommodates observer-dependence, self-referential dynamics, and coherence structures.Rather than invoking new metaphysical assumptions, we extend standard quantum mechanics using density operators, spectral projectors, and feedback-based recursion to model consciousness as an emergent, mathematically expressible field. Measurement is treated as a projection operation within a self-correcting system, with entropy and coherence playing central roles in defining informational stability. We introduce recursive tensor dynamics, propose coherence-based attractors as generalized eigenstates of awareness, and validate these structures through formal stability criteria. By preserving mathematical integrity of quantum mechanics, this framework sets the foundation for extending quantum mechanics into domains of cognition, observation, and informational coherence, while remaining fully compatible with established frameworks of modern physics.
