Abstract

The kinetics of the semi-infinite Ising model in the presence of a time dependent oscillating external field is studied within the framework of the mean-field approach. We use the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics to describe the time evolution of this system. We present a variety of phases in semi infinite cubic ferromagnet with spin 1 at the bulk and spin 12at the surface. The obtained Phase diagrams contains surface ordered phase (BP, SF), completely ordered phase (BF, SF) and completely disordered phase (BP, SP) that strongly depend on interaction parameters. The first or second order nature of the transitions is characterized by studying the thermal behaviors of the dynamic magnetizations. Furthermore, the system exhibits dynamical tricritical phenomenon. The magnetizations and phase space trajectories are given and discussed.

Dynamic phase transitions in the kinetic mixed spin-1/2 and spin-5/2 Ising model under a time-dependent oscillating magnetic field

We calculate the dynamic phase transition (DPT) temperatures and present the dynamic phase diagrams in the kinetic mixed spin-1/2 and spin-5/2 Ising model under the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field. We employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the set of mean-field dynamic equations. The time variation of the average magnetizations and the thermal behavior of the dynamic magnetizations are investigated, extensively. The nature (continuous or discontinuous) of the transitions is characterized by studying the thermal behaviors of the dynamic magnetizations. The DPT points are obtained and the phase diagrams are presented in two different planes. Phase diagrams contain four fundamental phases and three coexistence or mixed phases, which strongly depend on interaction parameters. The phase diagrams are discussed and a comparison is made with the results of the other mixed spin Ising systems.

Dynamic phase transition in the kinetic spin-5/2 Blume–Emery–Griffiths model in an oscillating external magnetic field

Mustafa Keskín, Mehmet Ertaş

Employing a mean-field approach, we study the stationary states of the kinetic spin-5/2 Blume–Emery–Griffiths (BEG) model under the presence of a time-varying (sinusoidal) magnetic field by using the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics. We employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the set of dynamic mean-field equations. We investigate the time variation in average order parameters to find the phases in the system, and the thermal behavior of the dynamic order parameters to characterize the nature (continuous or discontinuous) of the dynamic phase transtions and to the dynamic phase transition temperature. The dynamic phase diagrams are presented in three different planes. The phase diagrams contain the ferromagnetic-5/2, the ferromagnetic-3/2, the ferromagnetic-1/2, the ferroquadrupolar, and disordered fundamental phases. They also include the nine coexisting or mixed phases composed of binary and ternary combinations of fundamental phases that strongly depend on the interaction parameters. The phase diagrams display the critical end point, double critical end point, triple point, quadruple point, and one, two, or three special points and the dynamic tricritical point that depends on the interaction parameters.

Kinetics of a mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising system under a time-dependent oscillating magnetic field

Mustafa Keskín, Ersin Kantar, Osman Canko

We present a study, within a mean-field approach, of the kinetics of the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising model Hamiltonian with bilinear and biquadratic nearest-neighbor exchange interactions and a single-ion potential or crystal-field interaction in the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field. We employ the Glauber transition rates to construct the mean-field dynamical equations. We investigate the time dependence of average magnetizations and the quadrupole moments, and the thermal behavior of the dynamic order parameters. From these studies, we obtain the dynamic phase transition (DPT) points and construct the phase diagrams in three different planes. Phase diagrams contain disordered (d) , ferrimagnetic (i) , the antiquadrupolar or staggered (a) phases, and four coexistence or mixed phase regions, namely, the i+d , i+a , i+a+d , and a+d , that strongly depend on interaction parameters. The system also exhibits the dynamic tricritical behavior in most cases, the reentrant behavior in few cases.

We study the nonequilibrium aspects of the kinetics of a mixed spin-1 and spin-2 Ising system including the biquadratic nearest-neighbor pair interaction ( K ) and crystal-field interaction ( D ) under the presence of a time-dependent oscillating external magnetic field within a mean-field approach. In particular, we calculate the dynamic phase transition (DPT) temperatures and present dynamic phase diagrams. The set of mean-field dynamic equations is obtained by employing Glauber transition rates. We investigate the time variations of average order parameters to find the phases in the system. DYNAMIC DIPOLE AND QUADRUPOLE PHASE TRANSITIONS IN THE KINETIC SPIN-1 MODEL

Mustafa Keskín, Osman Canko, Ersin Kantar

The dynamic phase transitions have been studied, within a mean-field approach, in the kinetic spin-1 Ising model Hamiltonian with arbitrary bilinear and biquadratic pair interactions in the presence of a time varying (sinusoidal) magnetic field by using the Glauber-type stochastic dynamics. The nature (first- or second-order) of the transition is characterized by investigating the behavior of the thermal variation of the dynamic order parameters. The dynamic phase transitions (DPTs) are obtained and the phase diagrams are constructed in the temperature and magnetic field amplitude plane and found six fundamental types of phase diagrams. Phase diagrams exhibit one or two dynamic tricritical points depending on the biquadratic interaction (K). Besides the disordered (D) and ferromagnetic (F) phases, the FQ + D, F + FQ and F + D coexistence phase regions also exist in the system and the F and F + D phases disappear for high values of K.

Phase transitions in a three-dimensional kinetic spin-1/2 Ising model with random field: Effective-field-theory study

Emanuel Costabile, J. Ricardo de Sousa

The dynamical phase transitions of the kinetic Ising model in the presence of a random magnetic field with a bimodal probability distribution is studied by using effective-field theory (EFT) with correlations. We have used a Glauber-type stochastic dynamic to describe the time evolution of the system, where the system strongly depends on the H≡√<H(i)(2)>(c) root mean square deviation of the magnetic field. The EFT dynamic equation is given for the simple cubic lattice (z=6), and the dynamic order parameter is calculated. The system presents ferromagnetic and paramagnetic states for low and high temperatures, respectively. Our results predict first-order transitions at low temperatures and large disorder strengths, which corresponds to the existence of a nonequilibrium tricritical point (TCP) in a phase diagram in the T-H plane. We compare the results with the equilibrium phase diagram, where only the first-order line is different. Our qualitative results are compatible with recent Monte Carlo simulations.
