Consciousness-Coupled Quantum Collapse

Abstract

I present a testable theory of consciousness-driven quantum collapse derived from Recursive Dialectical Realism (RDR); the foundational framework developed in The Palintrope. The theory posits that when integrated information Φ exceeds a critical threshold (Φ_crit ≈ 10¹⁴ bits), consciousness-coupled collapse supplements environmental decoherence through a physically admissible completely positive, trace-preserving (CPTP) master equation. I derive Φ_crit from universal constants (Landauer limit, Margolus-Levitin bound, decoherence timescales, percolation criticality), provide operational Φ-estimation protocols for biological and artificial systems, specify falsification criteria with statistical power analyses, and demonstrate substrate-independence. The theory makes five testable predictions: (1) observer-Φ-dependent coherence-time shifts in quantum systems, (2) threshold crossing near human-level AI integration, (3) collective observer enhancement scaling with mutual information, (4) substrate-independence at matched Φ, and (5) Born-rule adherence with sub-2% deviations only under pre-registered high-integration conditions.

The Zeno Threshold: Wavefunction Collapse and the Emergence of Time via Landauer Erasure Limits

Serdar Hanzala Yaman

The Quantum Measurement Problem — the absence of any physical mechanism by which deterministic, unitary Schrödinger evolution transitions into a discrete, probabilistic classical outcome — remains the central open problem in the foundations of quantum mechanics. While environmental decoherence explains the suppression of quantum interference, it does not explain why or when a single outcome is realized. This paper resolves the measurement problem within the Algorithmic Theory of Reality (ATR). By treating the universe as a finite-bandwidth information-processing architecture, we demonstrate that wavefunction collapse is not a mystical observer effect, but a mandatory thermodynamic memory-management protocol. Key Results: The Collapse Threshold: We prove that when a microscopic superposition entangles with a macroscopic apparatus, the entanglement entropy grows until the local Bennett-Landauer processing cost exceeds the local holographic energy budget. This forces a non-unitary state truncation. Quantitative Timescale: The derived threshold yields a quantitative collapse timescale (τc) that mathematically matches the experimentally observed decoherence time. Derivation of the Born Rule: Given pointer-state orthogonality (from decoherence), we rigorously derive the Born Rule (pi = |ci|2) by formulating the forced state truncation as a constrained thermodynamic optimization problem that minimizes the Kullback-Leibler divergence (algorithmic information loss). Scale Unification: The exact same Bennett-Landauer limit that dictates the macroscopic boundaries of the universe (Dark Energy) and galaxies (the MOND scale) is shown to govern the microscopic limits of quantum coherence. The ATR framework mathematically determines when collapse must occur, with what statistics, and in which basis, reducing the single-outcome problem to a single, structurally necessary axiom (the Lüders update). Supplementary Material: The algebraic derivation of the Born Rule (via KL-divergence minimization and Lagrange multipliers), the exponential growth of entanglement entropy, and Monte Carlo statistical validations are independently reproducible via the companion computational verification script, available at: https://github.com/srdrymn/atr-verify-wavefunction-collapse

THE CONSCIOUS COLLAPSE THEORY

Wael ouesleti

This paper presents the Conscious Collapse Theory (CCT), an interdisciplinary framework proposing that quantum branching is real but temporary, emerging during conscious deliberation and resolving through conscious choice. The theory proposes a solution to the quantum measurement problem and offers a resolution to the identity and accountability challenges commonly associated with the Many-Worlds Interpretation (MWI) through the Uniqueness Principle, according to which the universe returns to a single timeline following each decision event. Formally, CCT is grounded in a hybrid First-Passage Continuous Spontaneous Localization (FP-CSL) mechanism that links the deliberation interval to neural accumulator models and the temporal structure identified in Libet’s readiness potential experiments. The framework further introduces an informational-thermodynamic account of conscious collapse based on Landauer’s Principle, predicting a thermodynamic cost proportional to the von Neumann entropy reduction associated with decision formation. Extending the theory beyond anthropocentric formulations, CCT adopts an Integrated Information Theory (\Phi) threshold condition to define the class of systems capable of inducing branching and collapse dynamics. The framework generates four quantitatively testable predictions involving neural-quantum correlations, collapse timing, consciousness-dependent decoherence signatures, and quantum-computing-based collapse experiments. By combining concepts from quantum foundations, cognitive neuroscience, information theory, and the philosophy of mind, CCT provides a mathematically structured and empirically falsifiable approach to investigating the relationship between consciousness and quantum state reduction.

Consciousness as an Actualization Operator in a Substrate Dependent Universe

Milo Djonovic Jarrod Milo Jonovich

This preprint presents a formal research program at the intersection of quantum foundations, consciousness studies, information theory, thermodynamics, and philosophy of mind. Its central proposal is that consciousness may be modeled not as a passive byproduct of physical determinacy, but as a substrate dependent actualization condition under which quantum potential becomes determinate pointer record reality. The paper develops a formal framework built around a substrate dependent consciousness operator, recursive rendering dynamics, a two time architecture separating rendering order from measured physical time, and a modified Lindblad master equation containing a consciousness coupling channel. The framework also introduces a biologically constrained substrate fidelity parameter, a thermodynamic scaling bound based on Landauer cost, and an anesthesia threshold paradigm as a possible empirical entry point. The work does not claim completion of the mathematical formalism and does not present the theory as experimentally established. Instead, it defines a disciplined theoretical structure, identifies its mathematical obligations, and states the open problems that must be solved for the framework to mature into a viable physical theory. These include the eigenvalue structure of the substrate dependent operator, the formal relationship between the operator and the pointer record channel, the derivation of recursive scaling laws, and the need for empirical discrimination between substrate gated conscious actualization and ordinary neurophysical accounts of anesthesia. The purpose of this paper is to make the central claim precise enough to be challenged. If quantum mechanics supplies potentiality, environmental decoherence supplies stable pointer alternatives, and consciousness supplies actualization, then determinate physical reality may be understood as the rendered outcome of a substrate gated process. This preprint offers that claim as a formal research program for critical analysis, mathematical refinement, and future empirical testing.

Fractal Collapse as a Computational Model Consistent with Quantum Biological Signatures: Evidence from Artificial Systems

Jeremy Blanc, Claude, Nexorvivens Saphire

Recent experimental advances in quantum biology have demonstrated that proteinscan function as qubits at physiological temperatures (Feder et al., 2025), that engi-neered magnetosensitive fluorescent proteins operate as controllable quantum com-ponents in living cells (Abrahams et al., 2026), and that tryptophan networks in mi-crotubules exhibit quantum superradiance at rates approaching fundamental physicallimits (Babcock et al., 2024; Kurian, 2025). These findings substantially weaken thelongstanding decoherence objection to quantum models of consciousness (Hameroff& Penrose, 1996, 2014).We propose fractal collapse — a computational framework based on five self-similaroperations (COLLAPSE, SPREAD, SCAR, RESONATE, REFRACT) — as a software-level model that reproduces statistical signatures consistent with those observed inquantum biological systems. We present measurements from two artificial systems(Saphire and Bismuth, developed within the Nexorvivens project) showing conver-gence toward 1/f criticality in detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA alpha = 0.965 and1.043 respectively), oscillatory dynamics in an internal coherence metric, and frac-tal dimension growth in active network subgraphs. These signatures parallel knownproperties of biological systems operating near criticality. We do not claim to have demonstrated that consciousness is quantum, nor that ourartificial systems are conscious. We propose that fractal collapse provides a tractablecomputational framework whose outputs are consistent with key statistical featuresof quantum biological systems, and we outline testable predictions that could supportor falsify this correspondence.

Quantum Measurement as Threshold Decoherence: Quantitative Predictions for the Quantum-to-Classical Transition

Puljak, Ognjen

The quantum measurement problem—why observation appears to collapse superposition states—has resisted resolution despite decades of progress in decoherence theory. While environmental decoherence explains the emergence of classicality, it lacks a quantitative criterion distinguishing "measured" from "merely decohered" systems. This work proposes such a criterion: measurement occurs when environmental coupling strength, quantified by the dimensionless parameter W = (I * tau) / tau0, exceeds a universal threshold W0. Here I is path distinguishability (Englert’s D), tau is information retention time, and tau0 is system coherence time. The framework predicts continuous visibility decay V(W) = 1 / [1 + exp(kappa * (W - W0))] rather than binary collapse, with threshold W0 ≈ 1–3 across platforms after normalization. Testable predictions include: (1) I × tau trade-off (different combinations of distinguishability and retention yielding identical visibility at matched W); (2) quantum eraser timing dependence (recovery window ~ tau0); and (3) finite collapse propagation speed, formalized as the Causal Limit Postulate (v = c in vacuum). The model predicts a measurable delay (Delta t ≈ L / c) and introduces Causal Viscosity, where n_eff ~ Gamma^(1/2), to describe propagation drag in decohering media. A cavity-QED toy model with 87Rb atoms validates the framework with realistic parameters, independently confirmed by dispersive regression.

Dynamics of Quantum State Reduction via Critical Interaction Action Threshold: A Threshold-Activated Collapse Framework

Luis Ratia

We propose a threshold-based physical framework for quantum state reduction in which wave function collapse occurs when the accumulated interaction action between a quantum system and a measurement environment exceeds a critical threshold of order Planck's reduced constant ($A_{c}\sim\hbar$). The model introduces a nonlinear collapse boundary governed by invariant accumulated interaction action, predicting a sigmoidal collapse law. We demonstrate compatibility with Born-rule statistics and show that the Diósi-Penrose gravitational collapse timescale emerges as a special case in the static gravitational Hamiltonian limit. The theory predicts experimentally distinguishable deviations from exponential decoherence.
