High-Order Limit of Para-Bose and Para-Fermi Fields

Oscar Wallace Greenberg, Albert Messiah

Para-Bose and para-Fermi quantization are schemes of second quantization which generalize the usual Bose and Fermi schemes. The different cases of para-Bose (para-Fermi) quantization are labeled by a positive integer p, which is called the ``order.'' For p = 1, the usual Bose (Fermi) quantization is recovered. The high-p limit of para-Bose (para-Fermi) quantization is studied, and it is shown that, to a large extent, the high-p limit of a para-Bose (para-Fermi) field is a Fermi (Bose) field. The nature of the limit is studied in detail, and a paradox relating to the connection of spin and statistics is resolved.

Effects of impurity and Bose-Fermi interactions on the transition temperature of a dilute dipolar Bose–Einstein condensation in trapped Bose-Fermi mixtures

H. Yavari, M. Mokhtari

The effects of impurity and Bose-Fermi interactions on the transition temperature of a dipolar Bose–Einstein condensation in trapped Bose-Fermi mixture, by using the two-fluid model, are investigated. The shift of the transition temperature consists of four contributions due to contact, Bose-Fermi, dipole-dipole, and impurity interactions. We will show that in the presence of an anisotropic trap, the Bose-Fermi correction to the shift of transition temperature due to the excitation spectra of the thermal part is independent of anisotropy factor. Applying our results to trapped Bose-Fermi mixtures shows that, by knowing the impurity effect, the shift of the transition temperature due to Bose-Fermi interaction could be measured for isotropic trap (dipole-dipole contributions is zero) and Feshbach resonance technique (contact potential contribution is negligible).

Bose–Fermi pair formation in the mixture of cold atomic gases

T. Suzuki

We study the role of the Bose–Fermi (BF) pair correlations in the cold BF-mixture of atomic gases. After summarizing the previous results on the formation of composite BF-pairs in the uniform BF mixture, we present an exactly solvable model where bosons and fermions are distributed over finite number of orbits and interact via attractive pairing-type interaction. We show that, as the interaction strength increases, BF pairs with different quantum numbers are gradually created in the ground state through a series of level crossings, until finally the system becomes a Fermi sea of BF-pairs.
