M. Inguscio, S. Stringari, Carl Wieman

This work brings together leaders in both theory and experiments on Bose-Einstein condensation in gases. Their lectures provide detailed coverage of the experimental techniques for the creation and study of BEC, as well as the theoretical foundation for understanding the properties of this system.

Ricardo A. Broglia, J. R. Schrieffer, P. F. Bortignon +1 more

These proceedings present a range of topics in the field of many-body physics. These include microscopic systems such as fullerenes and the atomic nucleus, mesoscopic systems like metal clusters with a sizable but still small number of atoms, and condensed matter.

Experimental quantum computation and information : Varenna on Como Lake, Villa Monastero, 17 - 27 July 2001

F. De Martini, Christopher R. Monroe

This Fermi Summer School of Physics on Experimental Quantum Information and Computing represents a primer in an expanding area in physics. In this part, the interest in quantum information (QI) science is due to the discovery that a computer operating on quantum mechanical principles can solve certain important computational problems exponentially faster than any conceivable classical computer. But this interest is also due to the interdisciplinary nature of the field: the rapid growth is attributable, in part, to the stimulating confluence of researchers and ideas from physics, chemistry, mathematics, information theory, and computer science. The lectures cover Quantum Information (QI) processing, spanning quantum optics and laser physics, atomic and molecular physics, physical chemistry, and condensed-matter physics.
