Abstract

Abstract-Surveillance systems have become indispensable across homes, institutions, industries, and public spaces, providing continuous monitoring and ensuring safety. However, as digital threats advance, conventional encryption techniques used in video surveillance are increasingly vulnerable to interception, tampering, and future quantum-based attacks. This paper presents a Smart and Secure Video Surveillance System that integrates deep-learning-based face detection with quantum cryptographic key distribution to safeguard sensitive video data. A YOLOv3-based DCNN model is utilized to detect human faces in each frame. Detected facial regions are then scrambled using a block-based transformation technique to prevent unauthorized recognition. To ensure uncompromised security, encryption keys are generated using a simulated BB84 Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocol, offering resistance against eavesdropping and guaranteeing key integrity. The encrypted video is transmitted securely to the monitoring unit, where decryption occurs only with quantum-authenticated keys. Experimental results demonstrate strong privacy protection, robust resistance to key interception, and reliable face detection performance, highlighting the system’s effectiveness in building next-generation, quantum-secure surveillance frameworks. Key Words: Video Surveillance, Quantum Cryptography, QKD, YOLOv3, Face Detection, Secure Transmission, Block Scrambling.

A Secure And Efficient Quantum Adopted Chaotic Cryptosystem For Video Surveillance Applications

T. Janani, Vinod Ramesh Falmari, M. Brindha

The recent advances in digital services such as telehealth, video conferencing, military imaging, and video surveillance require highly reliable, secure storage and transmission of multimedia images and video. Specifically, video surveillance systems are commonly adopted for real-time event detection and video analytics. The video captured by video surveillance cameras often holds personal information, which requires privacy protection. Unlike text, digital images and video frames have many special properties, for instance, pixel correlations, textures, and huge size, which results in conventional cryptosystems like AES, data encryption standard (DES), etc., being appropriate for performing image encryption tasks as they possess very low efficiency when the data size is large. Chaotic cryptosystem has recommended a proficient approach for performing multimedia encryption with special characteristics like randomness and dynamic behavior. Though chaotic cryptosystem provides better security, these frameworks are vulnerable to cryptanalytic attacks with high computation machines. Thus, the recent advancement of quantum methodologies for quantum information processing has gained popularity in many fields such as information security, video processing, etc. 204 In this work, an attempt was made to investigate the proficiency of quantum cryptography in the field of secure video surveillance applications. To ensure the privacy of surveillance video, the proposed framework presented a novel Quantum based video cryptosystem for encrypting the digital video frames. Initially, the video frames are converted into quantum qubit frames by processing the pixel values. Next, to guarantee the secrecy of digital video information, the qubit planes are encrypted by utilizing series of quantum gates such as swap gate, controlled not gate, Toffoli gate and Hadamard gates under confusion and diffusion phases. The secrecy of digital video frames is reinforced by utilizing plain image-based quantum chaos for secret key generation. The traditional chaotic maps are quantized to obtain the quantumbased random sequences and these random sequences are further utilized to construct the secret keys for performing encryption and decryption operation. The numerical simulations and security analysis prove that the proposed system ensures secure video surveillance against cryptanalytic attacks. Also, the proposed quantum-based secure video surveillance system has ensured the effectiveness of quantum image processing in real-time video surveillance applications.

Securing the Future: Advanced Encryption for Quantum-Safe Video Transmission

Yashas Hariprasad, Sitharama S. Iyengar, Naveen Kumar Chaudhary

The rapid growth of digital communication and video transmission has brought about an urgent need for robust encryption methods to ensure the security and integrity of video data. Traditional encryption techniques, while effective, face increasing challenges from advancing computing capabilities. Quantum cryptography has emerged as a promising solution to secure video transmission. In this article, we propose a novel cutting-edge Hybrid Quantum Video Encryption Framework. Our key idea is to integrate the strengths of quantum encryption and the classical video transmission paradigm to enhance the security of video transmission. By combining the proposed quantum encryption framework which uses a pseudorandom number generated key to perform a row-wise XOR operation along with the secure SSL-encrypted HTTP transmission over the internet, this framework provides a robust defense against threats. The experimental simulation conducted under the new computational integrated paradigm shows the strong encryption capability of the proposed method. The superior performance of the proposed method as validated through statistical analysis, outperforms the state-of-the-art video encryption frameworks in terms of Information Entropy and Correlation Coefficient for encrypted plain images offering a significant advancement in the field of secure video transmission.

Secure Authentication Scheme for Large-scale Video Surveillance System Based on Quantum Key

Jinze Li, Yewen Li, Yang Zhang +3 more

With the continuous improvement of computing power, especially the emergence of quantum computers, the key data with long-term value encrypted by traditional encryption techniques in video surveillance systems have been exposed to the risk of quantum attacks. Quantum key distribution is the most mature quantum cryptography technique, which can guarantee the high security of quantum keys. In this paper, we design a secure identity authentication scheme based on quantum key for large-scale video surveillance systems. The experimental results show that the time of the authentication scheme proposed in this paper grows linearly with the increase of the number of users, and the key matching degree can be improved by about 70.16%, which can achieve the performance matching of quantum key distribution with the demand rate of large-scale authentication keys in the video surveillance network.
