Abstract

Abstract The evolution of twenty-first-century science has increasingly relied on interdisciplinary exploration, where boundaries between traditional disciplines blur to foster new innovations. Quantum computing has emerged as a leading area of modern innovation, uniting concepts from physics, mathematics, engineering, and computer science. Using quantum-mechanical properties like entanglement and superposition, these systems are capable of addressing complex problems that traditional computers cannot efficiently handle. This chapter examines the interdisciplinary nature of quantum computing, focusing on how it integrates theoretical physics with computational models to push the frontiers of human knowledge. Through this synthesis, quantum computing not only expands the limits of computation but also demonstrates how collaboration across disciplines can yield transformative technologies that redefine our understanding of science and information. Quantum Computing: Principles, Applications and Future Scope

Narendhiran R, Dharani prasath.R, Mrs. K. Gowri

ABSTRACT Quantum computing represents a fundamental shift in the way computational problems are approached and solved. Unlike classical computing systems that rely on binary bits to process information, quantum computing utilizes quantum bits, or qubits, which exploit principles of quantum mechanics such as superposition and entanglement. This transition from classical bits to qubits has opened new possibilities for solving complex problems that are computationally infeasible for traditional systems. This paper explores the evolution of computing paradigms from classical architectures to quantum-based models, highlighting the theoretical foundations and technological advancements that have driven this transformation. It discusses the core concepts of quantum computing, including qubit representation, quantum gates, and computational models, along with an overview of current quantum hardware architectures. Furthermore, the paper examines key application areas such as cryptography, optimization, artificial intelligence, and scientific simulations, where quantum computing demonstrates significant potential. Despite its promise, quantum computing faces substantial challenges related to hardware stability, error correction, scalability, and resource requirements, which are also analyzed. Finally, the paper outlines future research directions and the potential impact of quantum computing on next-generation information processing systems, emphasizing its role in redefining the boundaries of modern computation. Quantum Computing: Navigating the Future of Computation, Challenges, and Technological Breakthroughs

Qurban Ali Memon, Mahmoud Al Ahmad, MICHAEL G. PECHT

Quantum computing stands at the precipice of technological revolution, promising unprecedented computational capabilities to tackle some of humanity’s most complex problems. The field is highly collaborative and recent developments such as superconducting qubits with increased scaling, reduced error rates, and improved cryogenic infrastructure, trapped-ion qubits with high-fidelity gates and reduced control hardware complexity, and photonic qubits with exploring room-temperature quantum computing are some of the key developments pushing the field closer to demonstrating real-world applications. However, the path to realizing this promise is fraught with significant obstacles across several key platforms, including sensitivity to errors, decoherence, scalability, and the need for new materials and technologies. Through an exploration of various quantum systems, this paper highlights both the potential and the challenges of quantum computing and discusses the essential role of middleware, quantum hardware development, and the strategic investments required to propel the field forward. With a focus on overcoming technical hurdles through innovation and interdisciplinary research, this review underscores the transformative impact quantum computing could have across diverse sectors.

The Future of Quantum Computing

Yaash Sahnan

Quantum Computing often described as one of the most exciting frontiers of modern science—a field that does not just push the boundaries of technology but also reshapes how we think about solving problems. Unlike classical computers, which process information in simple 0s and 1s, quantum mechanics, allowing a single qubit to explore multiple possibilities at the same time. This gives them the potential to perform calculations that would take even today’s most powerful supercomputers thousands of years. In recent years, progress has been rapid, with breakthroughs in hardware, algorithms and applications that range from developing new medicines to strengthening artificial intelligence and tackling climate change. Yet, enormous challenges remain, such as stabilizing fragile qubits, reducing error rates, and making these systems accessible beyond a handful of elite labs. This paper explores both the promises and the pitfalls of quantum computing, offering a closer look at how it could reshape industries, global security and even the pace of human innovation in the decades ahead.

Aayush Manish Chitnis

Quantum computing isn't merely another step forward in technology; it represents a leap into an entirely new paradigm for understanding information. By harnessing the strange but powerful principles of quantum mechanics, quantum computers use qubits that can exist in multiple states at once, connect instantly through entanglement, and solve certain problems far faster than any classical machine. This paper explores the fundamentals of quantum computing, from its theoretical roots to the breakthroughs and setbacks shaping its present. We examine the engineering and scientific challenges - from fragile qubits to daunting scalability issues - and the immense promise they hold for fields like cryptography, artificial intelligence, drug discovery, and materials science. Finally, we consider the future impact of this technology, both its opportunities and its risks, and how it may redefine industries, research methods, and even our approach to solving humanity's hardest problems. The purpose of this paper is to examine the fundamental principles, developmental trajectory, current challenges, and prospective impacts of quantum computing across scientific, industrial, and societal domains. Given its potential to reshape computational capabilities and address complex global challenges, this study holds significance for researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders seeking to understand and navigate the transition toward quantum technologies.
