Abstract

We present a Bethe-ansatz-solvable dissipative model of one-dimensional hard-core anyons under dephasing, where the particles obey fractional statistics. We establish an exact mapping between the Liouvillian and a non-Hermitian Hubbard model with special twisted boundary conditions. With the help of string hypothesis, we rigorously calculate the finite-size corrections and the Liouvillian gap in terms of the statistical parameter, total particle number, lattice size, and dissipation strength. The statistical parameter breaks the $\ensuremath{\eta}$-pairing symmetry of the system, partially lifts out the degeneracy of the spectrum, and contributes to the Liouvillian gap in finite-size corrections. We also derive the general form of the equation of motion for expectation values of the $2w$-point correlator of hard-core anyons and present a proposal for experimentally measuring the correlation function. Our results shed light on the Liouvillians of exactly solvable dissipative models of anyonic particles that obey the fractional statistics.

Exact Bethe Ansatz Spectrum of a Tight-Binding Chain with Dephasing Noise

Mariya V. Medvedyeva, Fabian H. L. Eßler, Tomaž Prosen

We construct an exact map between a tight-binding model on any bipartite lattice in the presence of dephasing noise and a Hubbard model with imaginary interaction strength. In one dimension, the exact many-body Liouvillian spectrum can be obtained by application of the Bethe ansatz method. We find that both the nonequilibrium steady state and the leading decay modes describing the relaxation at late times are related to the η-pairing symmetry of the Hubbard model. We show that there is a remarkable relation between the time evolution of an arbitrary k-point correlation function in the dissipative system and k-particle states of the corresponding Hubbard model.

Fractional Statistics in One-Dimension: View From An Exactly Solvable Model

One-dimensional fractional statistics is studied using the Calogero-Sutherland model (CSM) which describes a system of non-relativistic quantum particles interacting with inverse-square two-body potential on a ring. The inversesquare exchange can be regarded as a pure statistical interaction and this system can be mapped to an ideal gas obeying the fractional exclusion and exchange statistics. The details of the exact calculations of the dynamical correlation functions for this ideal system is presented in this paper. An effective low-energy one-dimensional "anyon" model is constructed; and its correlation functions are found to be in agreement with those in the CSM; and this agreement provides an evidence for the equivalence of the first-and the second-quantized construction of the 1D anyon model at least in the long wave-length limit.Furthermore, the finite-size scaling applicable to the conformally invariant systems is used to obtain the complete set of correlation exponents for the CSM.

Exact dynamical correlations of hard-core anyons in one-dimensional lattices

Qing-Wei Wang

The dynamical correlations of a strongly correlated system are an essential ingredient to describe its nonequilibrium properties. We present a general method to calculate exactly the dynamical correlations of hard-core anyons in one-dimensional lattices, valid for any type of confining potential and any temperature. We obtain exact explicit expressions of the Green's function, the spectral function, and the out-of-time-ordered correlators (OTOCs). We find that the anyonic spectral function displays three main singularity lines which can be explained as a double spectrum in analogy to the Lieb-Liniger gas. The dispersion relations of these lines can be given explicitly and they cross at a hot point $({q}_{m},{\ensuremath{\omega}}_{m})$, which induces a peak in the momentum distribution function at ${q}_{m}$ and a power-law singularity in the local spectral function at ${\ensuremath{\omega}}_{m}$. We also find that the anyonic statistics can induce spatial asymmetry in the Green's function, its spectrum, and the OTOC. Moreover, the information spreading characterized by the OTOCs shows light-cone dynamics, asymmetric for general statistics and low temperatures, but symmetric at infinite temperature. Our results pave the way toward studying the nonequilibrium dynamics of hard-core anyons and experimentally probing anyonic statistics through spectral functions.

Ground-state properties of anyons in a one-dimensional lattice

Guixin Tang, Sebastian Eggert, Axel Pelster

Using the Anyon–Hubbard Hamiltonian, we analyze the ground-state properties of anyons in a one-dimensional lattice. To this end we map the hopping dynamics of correlated anyons to an occupation-dependent hopping Bose–Hubbard model using the fractional Jordan–Wigner transformation. In particular, we calculate the quasi-momentum distribution of anyons, which interpolates between Bose–Einstein and Fermi–Dirac statistics. Analytically, we apply a modified Gutzwiller mean-field approach, which goes beyond a classical one by including the influence of the fractional phase of anyons within the many-body wavefunction. Numerically, we use the density-matrix renormalization group by relying on the ansatz of matrix product states. As a result it turns out that the anyonic quasi-momentum distribution reveals both a peak-shift and an asymmetry which mainly originates from the nonlocal string property. In addition, we determine the corresponding quasi-momentum distribution of the Jordan–Wigner transformed bosons, where, in contrast to the hard-core case, we also observe an asymmetry for the soft-core case, which strongly depends on the particle number density.

Symmetry and integrability in the anyon-Hubbard model

Martin Bonkhoff, Grennon Gurney, Friethjof Theel +3 more

Recent cold atom experiments have realized one-dimensional anyons and enabled the tuning of 1D~statistics between bosons and fermions. Here, we analyze the symmetries, integrability, and resulting degeneracies of the underlying anyon-Hubbard model of finite length. Our results reveal a switching between symmetry classes AI, BDI, and CI in dependence on system size, particle number, and boundary conditions, and show that two anyons with periodic boundaries are integrable, while two anyons with open boundary conditions are not. We include a comprehensive analysis of all model limits, especially of interacting bosons and pseudofermions and resolve spectral signatures. We additionally reveal an exactly solvable doublon state that hides in the continuum of scattering states and the exact solution of the nullspace of two noninteracting anyons. The uncovered symmetries shape the fundamental properties of the one-dimensional anyons at hand, and the predicted states are accessible in state-of-the-art experiments.

Beyond braid statistics: Constructing a lattice model for anyons with exchange statistics intrinsic to one dimension

Sebastian Nagies, Botao Wang, Adam Knapp +2 more

Anyons obeying fractional exchange statistics arise naturally in two dimensions: Hard-core two-body constraints make the configuration space of particles not simply-connected. The braid group describes how topologically-inequivalent exchange paths can be associated to non-trivial geometric phases for abelian anyons. Braid-anyon exchange statistics can also be found in one dimension (1D), but this requires broken Galilean invariance to distinguish different ways for two anyons to exchange. However, recently it was shown that an alternative form of exchange statistics can occur in 1D because hard-core three-body constraints also make the configuration space not simply-connected. Instead of the braid group, the topology of exchange paths and their associated non-trivial geometric phases are described by the traid group. In this article we propose a first concrete model realizing this alternative form of anyonic exchange statistics. Starting from a bosonic lattice model that implements the desired geometric phases with number-dependent Peierls phases, we then define anyonic operators so that the kinetic energy term in the Hamiltonian becomes local and quadratic with respect to them. The ground-state of this traid-anyon-Hubbard model exhibits several indications of exchange statistics intermediate between bosons and fermions, as well as signs of emergent approximate Haldane exclusion statistics. The continuum limit results in a Galilean invariant Hamiltonian with eigenstates that correspond to previously constructed continuum wave functions for traid anyons. This provides not only an a-posteriori justification of our lattice model, but also shows that our construction serves as an intuitive approach to traid anyons, i.e. anyons intrinsic to 1D.
