Abstract

Abstract The dynamics of autonomous matter waves in two-component Bose–Einstein condensates subject to P T -symmetric potentials are investigated within the framework of coupled Gross–Pitaevskii equations. Families of nonlinear modes are obtained through analytical and numerical methods, and their stability properties are systematically characterized. The results demonstrate that P T -symmetric potentials play a crucial role in controlling the shape and interaction of matter waves, allowing for robust solitary-wave dynamics. The coexistence of a P T -symmetric Scarf-II potential and a δ -function potential further induces distinctive dynamical behaviors in multi-component condensates. These findings may provide a theoretical foundation for future experimental realizations and applications in autonomous matter-wave systems.

Three-component soliton states in spinor F = 1 Bose–Einstein condensates with P T -symmetric generalized Scarf-II potentials

Zhang-Lei Han, Jun-Yi Lao, Jia-Rui Zhang +1 more

Abstract Introducing P T -symmetric generalized Scarf-II potentials into the three-coupled nonlinear Gross–Pitaevskii equations offers a new way to seek stable soliton states in quasi-one-dimensional spin-1 Bose–Einstein condensates. In scenarios where the spin-independent parameter c 0 and the spin-dependent parameter c 2 vary, we use both analytical and numerical methods to investigate the three-coupled nonlinear Gross–Pitaevskii equations with P T -symmetric generalized Scarf-II potentials. We obtain analytical soliton states and find that simply modulating c 2 may change the analytical soliton states from unstable to stable. Additionally, we obtain numerically stable double-hump soliton states propagating in the form of periodic oscillations, exhibiting distinct behavior in energy exchange. For further investigation, we discuss the interaction of numerical double-hump solitons with Gaussian solitons and observe the transfer of energy among the three components. These findings may contribute to a deeper understanding of solitons in Bose–Einstein condensates with P T -symmetric potentials and may hold significance for both theoretical understanding and experimental design in related physics experiments.

Localized nonlinear matter waves in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with time- and space-modulated nonlinearities

Deng‐Shan Wang, Xinghua Hu, W.-M. Liu

We investigate the localized nonlinear matter waves in the two-component Bose-Einstein condensates with time- and space-modulated nonlinearities analytically and numerically. The similarity transformations are developed to solve the coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations and two families of explicitly exact solutions are derived. Our results show that not only the attractive spatiotemporal inhomogeneous interactions but the repulsive ones support novel localized nonlinear matter waves in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates. The dynamics of these matter waves, including the breathing solitons, quasibreathing solitons, resonant solitons, and moving solitons, is discussed. We confirm the stability of the exact solutions by adding various initial stochastic noise and study the general cases of the interaction parameters numerically. We also provide the experimental parameters to produce these phenomena in future experiments.

Controlled Fission and Superposition of Vector Solitons in an Integrable Model of Two-Component Bose–Einstein Condensates

Vaduganathan Ramesh Kumar, Rajadurai Vijayan, Boris A. Malomed

We investigate the dynamics of vector solitons in a two-component Bose–Einstein condensates governed by the system of Gross–Pitaevskii equations. Using a gauge-transformation approach, we construct a four-soliton solution and analyze their interactions, including superposition states, fission, and shape-preserving collisions. We explore the ability of time-dependent parameters, such as the intra- and intercomponent interaction coefficients and trapping potential, to control the soliton properties. In particular, we demonstrate controlled four-soliton fission, highlighting its potential applications to quantum data processing and coherent matter-wave transport. The results suggest experimental realization in BEC systems and provide insights into nonlinear wave interactions in multicomponent quantum fluids.

Dynamics of Analytical Matter-Wave Solutions in One-Dimensional Bose-Einstein Condensates with Two- and Three-Body Interactions

Hai-Qin Jin, Jun-Rong He, Bin Xu +1 more

Using the F-expansion method, we present analytical matter-wave solutions to Bose-Einstein condensates with two- and three-body interactions through the generalized onedimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation with time-dependent coefficients, for the experimentally relevant quadratic potential strength. Various shapes of the analytical matter-wave solutions which have important applications of physical interest are studied in detail. In particular, the matter-wave solitons are obtained in the quintic Gross-Pitaevskii equation model, which may be produced by tuning the cubic nonlinearity to zero via the Feschbach resonance technique. Direct numerical simulation has been performed to show the stable region of the matter-wave soliton.

Localized nonlinear matter waves in a Bose–Einstein condensate with spatially inhomogeneous two- and three-body interactions

Deng‐Shan Wang, Xiang‐Gui Li

We investigate the profiles and stability of the localized nonlinear matter waves in a Bose–Einstein condensate with spatially inhomogeneous two- and three-body interactions in various external potentials both analytically and numerically. Several families of localized stationary solutions of the one-dimensional mean-field Gross–Pitaevskii equation with cubic–quintic nonlinearities are obtained by similarity transformation. It is shown that the whole Bose–Einstein condensate can have an infinite number of localized nonlinear matter waves determined by certain non-negative integers. The linear and dynamical stabilities of the localized stationary solutions are studied numerically, and some stable localized nonlinear matter waves are found. We demonstrate that the attractive inhomogeneous two- and three-body interactions support linearly and dynamically stable localized nonlinear matter waves, but attractive two-body interaction along with repulsive three-body interaction destroys the linear stability. Moreover, an anharmonic potential is proposed to stabilize the localized nonlinear matter waves in the Bose–Einstein condensate with spatially inhomogeneous interactions.

Non-autonomous bright–dark solitons and Rabi oscillations in multi-component Bose–Einstein condensates

Thambithurai Kanna, R Babu Mareeswaran, F Tsitoura +2 more

We study the dynamics of non-autonomous bright-dark matter-wave solitons in two- and three- component Bose-Einstein condensates. Our setting includes a time-dependent parabolic potential and scattering length, as well as Rabi coupling of the separate hyperfine states. By means of a similarity transformation, we transform the non-autonomous coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations into the completely integrable Manakov model with defocusing nonlinearity, and construct the explicit form of the non-autonomous soliton solutions. The propagation characteristics for the one-soliton state, and collision scenarios for multiple soliton states are discussed in detail for two types of time-dependent nonlinearities: a kink-like one and a periodically modulated one, with appropriate time-dependence of the trapping potential. We find that in the two-component condensates the nature of soliton propagation is determined predominantly by the nature of the nonlinearity, as well as the temporal modulation of the harmonic potential; switching in this setting is essentially due to Rabi coupling. We also perform direct numerical simulation of the non-autonomous two-component coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations to corroborate our analytical predictions. More interestingly, in the case of the three-component condensates, we find that the solitons can lead to collision-induced energy switching (energy-sharing collision), that can be profitably used to control Rabi switching or vice-versa. An interesting possibility of reversal of the nature of the constituent soliton, i.e., bright (dark) into dark (bright) due to Rabi coupling is demonstrated in the three-component setting.
